Financial Globalization and Its Dual Impacts on Developing Countries

Financial globalization is the result of such factors as rapid development of science and technology, financial liberalization and economic integration. Because of its intrinsic traits it will exert a dual impact on the developing countries. The positive side is that the developing countries can absorb the capital from the international market and learn of advanced experience on financial operations; whereas, the negative effect is that the local financial market will be under greater competition pressure and risks. Hence, in terms of pace of opening up, financial regulation, interest and exchange rates policy and upgrading of the competitiveness of financial institutions, the developing countries should develop active strategies so as to make best use of this process and maximize economic development and financial security.
