On the Benevolence Thoughts of Chu Hsi and Zhangshi

This article researches several questions about the benevolence thought of Zhang Shi. These questions include the source, the evolution, the establishment and structure of the benevolence thought. The author considers that the theory structure can be divided into three parts: the theory of human around the law of heart, the method of self-control to reach the benevolence realm, and the covers and penetrate of benevolence. The paper also discusses the influence and comparison between Zhu Xi''s benevolence thought and Zhang Shi''s benevolence thought; and considers that the different understanding about "cosmic spirit" is the cause of the differences about the benevolence thought between Zhang Shi and Zhu Xi.
