作为明代杰出的地理学家和旅行家,王士性与徐霞客在全国范围内进行了长期而广泛的旅行和游历,但他们的旅行情况不尽相同.宦游与私游这两种不同的旅行方式使两人在出游时间、旅行路线、交通工具及饮食、住宿等方面存在较大差异,而这些旅行上的差异又对他们的著述和成就产生了不同的影响.两人著述对后世的影响和社会对他们的评价大不相同,这与中国重经验轻理论的文化传统有关.

The Culture Tradition Reflected from Theory and Experience--The Comparison between Wang Shixing and Xu Xiake's Travel

As excellent geographers and travelers in Ming dynasty,Wang Shixing and Xu Xiake traveled all around our country for a very long time. However,the cases of their travels are not the same.Two ways of travel make their travels different in time,line,transport means,board and lodging.Then the differences influence their writings and achievements.Their writings' influence and people's appraisals to them are different because of culture tradition in China which people pay more attention to experience but less to theory.
