符际翻译再思考——以严复翻译实践为例

从卡特福德翻译理论的“转移”和“转换”观念出发，以符号的物质性和非物质性为标准，将雅克布逊的符际翻译划分为符际转移和符际转换两类。其中：符际转移要求符号属性在翻译前后保持一致，强调各感官符号及空符号间的转移，拓宽了广义翻译研究的范围；符际转换凸显了翻译前后符号属性的变化，又可进一步分为影响翻译选材的一级转换、解构原文的二级转换和决定译文生成的三级转换。严复翻译实践的考察证明了上述分类的可行性，也为严复以及翻译的解读提供了新的视角。

Further Discussion on the Definition of Intersemiotic Translation: A Case Study of Yan Fu's Translation Activities

Based on terms borrowed from Catford''s theory,this paper is to redefine Jakobson''s concept of intersemiotic translation by dividing it into two subtle types called intersemiotic transference and intersemiotic shift respectively.The former requires the properties of signs to remain unchanged during the translation process and emphasizes transference among different sensory signs or null symbols,which extends the scope of translation studies in a broad sense;the latter pays attention to the change of sign properties during translation activities and can be further classified into three stages which influence the selection of ST,deconstruct the ST and generate the way in which TT is produced.The case study of Yan Fu''s translation has proved the rationality of such classification while proving us with a new perspective to investigate Yan Fu and his translations.
