Discussion on the Interculture Theory of Translation with Lin Yutang as the Case

The interculture theory of translation is considered as one of guiding philosophies of culture translation study.However,there are still some ambiguous ideas on its theoretical origin to be expounded clear till present.This thesis first explores the origin of the theory and the deep logic it contains,and then deals with the impact of the very thoughts on the translator through analysis of Lin Yutang’s translation of Six Chapters of a Floating Life.Finally,it reveals that the interculture philosophy in relation to translation is beyond texts,is the idea of cultural communication in which relevance is specially stressed,and is to advocate multicultural dialogues based on equality,hoping that cultural order should be re-established.
