| 摘 要： | 英语情态动词除了语法特征基本相同外,在语义和语用上存在着细微的差别.根据语义差别,英语情态动词可以分为判断情态动词和非判断情态动词,而后者又可以分为主语指向和话语指向两种情态动词.情态动词在使用中具有某种言外之意,能够表达一定的言语行为.理解和使用情态动词,必须考虑语境因素.

| Abstract: | Apart from the common grammatical features,English modals show subtle differences in their meanings and uses. Based on their semantic differences, English modals can be classified into two types: epistemic and non_epistemic. The latter consists of subject_oriented modals and discourse_oriented modals. When used in utterances, modals can convey some implicature and express certain speech acts. Contextual and situational factors must be taken into account in using and understanding modals. |
