编译在软新闻汉译英中的应用

摘    要:翻译实践中常常看到一些译者在英译汉语软新闻时并未遵从传统的翻译理论 ,而进行了大胆编译 (删除或增加某些内容 )。本文从软新闻的文本特点及其传播功能出发 ,通过对中英文化差异制约软新闻宣传效应的实例分析 ,认为软新闻独特的文本特点、中英文化差异的客观存在以及软新闻对宣传效应的刻意追求 ,使得传统的翻译标准和翻译方法有时在英译汉语软新闻时失效 ,而编译则在此领域有用武之地

Abstract:In the soft news C-E translation practice, some translators edit out/in some contents in the translated version, hence called "editing translation"in this paper, which does not comply with the traditional translation criteria. In this article, the author makes analysis on the textual features and communication functions of soft news, the incompetence of the propag anda effect re-creation of the source text in the target text due to the cultural differences between the Chinese and English people, thus, he draws the conclusion that it is the distinctive textual features of soft news, much emphasis laid on the propaganda effect of soft news, and the cultural differences that make the traditional translation criteria and techniques sometimes come to failure in soft news C-E translation, and that editing translation has much of its utility in this area.
