| Abstract: | By observing the construction and translation of euphemisms,with examples excerpted from Hong Lou Meng,this paper attempts to illustrate the importance of pragmatic rules,especially the Politeness Principle,over the construction and translation of euphemisms,and to provide some appropriate translation strategies by making use of a comparative analysis of different translated versions. |
