Media Literacy:A Burgeoning Educational Practice

With the ever-growing influence of mass media on teenagers, the concept of media literacy education was introduced in some western countries in the first half of the twentieth century. The present paper attempts to clarify the concept of media literacy and to discuss some relevant issues, on the basis of which the popularization and practice of media literacy education in some countries are briefed. As research and practice in the field of information literacy education has been quite established in China, a comparative study of the two is also made herein.
