| Abstract: | Almost a quarter of Pu Songling's Strange Tales from a Lonely Studio describe love affairs and marriages among boys and girls. An important theme of these stories is the author's longing for and admiring bosom friends. Through his creation of these stories the author achieved self consolation after having suffered from many setbacks and tribulations in his personal life and his disillusionment with his cherished expectation that his personal value could be acknowledged someday. |
