Managerialism in Public Administration:Reflexion and Criticism

Managerialism in public administration is a popular theory and movement of governance developed under particular circumstances after the 1970s.It offers a different view over management,reform of the government and the study of public administration.However,the author points out that Managerialism has many defects that are worthy of critical reflexion.Among these are:skewed basic values,superstitious belief of marketing mechanism,chaotic mixture of private and public management,improper consumer metaphor and so on.Reconstruction of public administration in the 21th century calls upon concerns in publicness of public administration,and in the interaction between government and the society,as well as between the market and the citizens,so that pitfalls can be avoided.
