姚江文化是地域文化的典型范例，是长江文化最典型的代表，这里相继产生的河姆渡文化、虞舜文化和严子陵、虞世南、王阳明、朱舜水、黄宗羲等文化名人，都是国家级、世界级的。姚江本身构成了一部涌流不息的文化史。

INTRODUCTION TO THE HISTORY OF THE YAOJIANGCULTURE

As a typical example of regional culture, the Yaojiang culture represents the Yangtse culure. Such cultural figures as Yan Ziling, Yu Shinan, Wang Yangming, Zhu Shunshui and Huang Zongxi were born along the river . As the birthplace of the Hemudu culture and the culture during Emperor Yu and Emperor Shun, the Yaojiang river constitues a powerful and continuous flow of the Chinese culture.
