| Abstract: | The paper focuses on three idioms "aee, xia, zhai", which refer to the narrowness in Chinese language. It investigates the frequency and reason of their appearance in historical documents from west Zhou to Ming and Qing Dynasties. And combined with their regional distribution in modem Chinese, it discusses the displacement and reasons of these three words. |
