| Abstract: | This paper makes a tentative comparison between Relevance Theory and Gricean Theory,proposes that the principle of relevance in Relevance Theory can replace Grice's co-operative principle with its well-known maxims of conversation,and shows that Relevance Theory is a new systematized and unified theory. |
