公共领域中的慈善、福音与民族主义——以近代杭州麻风病救治为例

在医疗社会史领域,对于疾病与社会、文化乃至殖民主义、民族主义关系的研究,正在引起学术界的巨大兴趣。本文以近代杭州的麻风救治为例,旨在探讨福音医学与近代中国社会文化的关联性。文章认为,在近代中国,福音医学是麻风病救治的绝对主导,通过为麻风病患筑家园、求福音和谋国族,传教士为近代中国带来了不同于明、清时期中国麻风救治传统的卫生现代性,即传教士抛弃了中国明清时期的强制隔离制度,在人道隔离中,疗身与疗灵并举,使麻风病患在卫生慈善机构中得到有效救治与养老。
