A Review of Research on Prose Art of Meng zi in the 20th Century

Abstract: Meng zi, being one of the Confucian classical works, was studied extensively in the 20th century. Literary research, which was one of the research fields on Meng Zi, achieved much but failed in some aspects in last century. In this essay the prose art of literary research on Meng Zi is reviewed briefly in three aspects: using art character and skill of language, debating art and imposing style, and logicality and style character. Its achievement and failure is reviewed, and prospected for the research in the 21st century is also mentioned
