On Nathaniel Hawthorne's Ethical or Moral Stance

In the so-called era of the"religionary criticismand religious morality"in American literature of the nineteenth,Nathaniel Hawthorne adhered to evil humanity which was commonly accepted,revealing sin and its moral significance in his fictions.Hawthorne takes a middle stand to convey a moral meaning that sin is the spiritual tie and motive force,not passing on the merits of concrete problems,but talking about the feeling of life and special moral rules of the characters.
