Rapid agricultural change is often conceptualized in connection with the transformation of socially-embedded peasants into self-interested, individualized farmers. In this ethnographic case study I describe the complex co-operation between farmers that involve local coping strategies in the face of technological challenges and globalization. Furthermore, I want to engage with the argument that suggests that in rural areas the processes of pluralizing life worlds are disconnected from processes of individualization. Lastly, the example I use of an ensiling team acts to explore the relationship between commodification and non-market co-operation.  相似文献

Based on the question, how school quality, academic achievement and health are linked to each other, the paper presents a research model that regards students’ health as a central educational resource that mediates between school quality and students’ academic achievement. The empirical test is based on the most recent data of the “Health Behaviour in School-aged Children” (HBSC) survey by using a structural equation model. The results indicate, that school quality influences students’ academic achievement as well as their health. According to our model, students’ health acts as a mediator between the quality of schools and students’ academic achievement.  相似文献

In an increasingly pluralized society the public administration and its traditional inherent values like rationality, objectivity and impersonality have lost part of their legitimacy. Most citizens no longer accept an authoritarian manner or an approach in which they are subjected to bureaucratic rules and regulations. The new emphasis on customer and service orientation, which emerged in the public administration with the New Public Management reform of the last three decades, reflects the rising importance of new sources of legitimacy like proximity to citizens and procedural justice. However, empirically based research rarely addresses the issue of how this shift of sources of legitimacy affects the daily work of civil servants. This article describes, drawing on qualitative data, how emotional labor is becoming an important resource for the interaction of state and citizens. Moreover, we will show how the forms of emotional labor vary according to the interpretations of statehood and the professional identities of the civil servants.  相似文献
