Statistical design is applied to a multivariate exponentially weighted moving average (MEWMA) control chart. The chart parameters are control limit H and smoothing constant r. The choices of the parameters depend on the number of variables p and the size of the process mean shift δ. The MEWMA statistic is modeled as a Markov chain and the Markov chain approach is used to determine the properties of the chart. Although average run length has become a traditional measure of the performance of control schemes, some authors have suggested other measures, such as median and other percentiles of the run length distribution to explain run length properties of a control scheme. This will allow a thorough study of the performance of the control scheme. Consequently, conclusions based on these measures would provide a better and comprehensive understanding of a scheme. In this article, we present the performance of the MEWMA control chart as measured by the average run length and median run length. Graphs are given so that the chart parameters of an optimal MEWMA chart can be determined easily.  相似文献

The usual practice in using a Bayesian control chart to monitor a process is done by taking samples from the process with fixed sampling intervals. Recent studies on traditional control charts have shown that variable sampling interval (VSI) scheme compared to classical scheme (fixed ratio sampling, FRS) helps practitioners to detect process shifts more quickly. In this paper, the effectiveness of VSI scheme on performance of Bayesian control chart has been studied, based on economic (ED) and economic–statistical designs (ESD). Monte Carlo method and artificial bee colony algorithm have been utilized to obtain optimal design parameters of Bayesian control chart (sample size, sampling intervals, warning limit and control limit) since the statistic of this approach does not have any specified distribution. Finally, VSI Bayesian control chart has been compared to FRS Bayesian and VSI X-bar approaches based on ED and ESD, separately. According to the results, it has been found that the performance of VSI Bayesian scheme is better than FRS Bayesian and VSI X-bar approaches.  相似文献

A multivariate extension of the adaptive exponentially weighted moving average (AEWMA) control chart is proposed. The new multivariate scheme can detect small and large shifts in the process mean vector effectively. The proposed scheme can be viewed as a smooth combination of a multivariate exponentially weighted moving average (MEWMA) chart and a Shewhart χ2-chart. The optimal design of the proposed chart is given according to a pre-specified in-control average run length and two shift sizes; a small and large shift each measured in terms of the non centrality parameter. The signal resistance of the newly proposed multivariate chart is also given. Comparisons among the new chart, the MEWMA chart, and the combined Shewhart-MEWMA (S-MEWMA) chart in terms of the standard and worst-case average run length profiles are presented. In addition, the three charts are compared with respect to their worst-case signal resistance values. The proposed chart gives somewhat better worst-case ARL and signal resistance values than the competing charts. It also gives better standard ARL performance especially for moderate and large shifts. The effectiveness of our proposed chart is illustrated through an example with simulated data set.  相似文献

In an accelerated hybrid censoring scheme several stress factors can be accelerated to make the products to respond to fail more quickly than under normal operating conditions. In such situations, the control charts available in the literature cover the attribute characteristics only to monitor the performance of the process over time. This study extends the idea by proposing an optimal mixed attribute-variable control chart for Weibull distribution under an accelerated hybrid censoring scheme keeping the advantages of both attribute and variable control charts. It first monitors the number of defectives under accelerated conditions and switches to the variable control chart to investigate the mean failure times when the process stability is dubious. The performance of the proposed chart is evaluated by using run-length characteristics, and the optimality of the design parameter is achieved by minimizing the out-of-control average run length. The simulation study depicted better performance of the proposed control chart than the traditional charts in detecting shifts in the process. A real-life application is also included.KEYWORDS: Mixed control chart, attribute chart, variable chart, Weibull distribution, accelerated hybrid censoring  相似文献

A new process monitoring scheme is proposed by using the Storey procedure for controlling the positive false discovery rate in multiple testing. For the 2-span control scheme, it is shown numerically that the proposed method performs better than X-bar chart in terms of the average run length. Some simulations are accomplished to evaluate the performance of the proposed scheme in terms of the average run length and the conditional expected delay. The results are compared with those of the existing monitoring schemes including the X-bar chart. The false discovery rate is also estimated and compared with the target control level.  相似文献

The np control chart is used widely in Statistical Process Control (SPC) for attributes. It is difficult to design an np chart that simultaneously satisfies a requirement on false alarm rate and has high detection effectiveness. This is mainly because one is often unable to make the in-control Average Run Length ARL0 of an np chart close to a specified or desired value. This article proposes a new np control chart which is able to overcome the problems suffered by the conventional np chart. It is called the Double Inspection (DI) np chart, because it uses a double inspection scheme to decide the process status (in control or out of control). The first inspection decides the process status according to the number of non-conforming units found in a sample; and the second inspection makes a decision based on the location of a particular non-conforming unit in the sample. The double inspection scheme makes the in-control ARL0 very close to a specified value and the out-of-control Average Run Length ARL1 quite small. As a result, the requirement on a false alarm rate is satisfied and the detection effectiveness also achieves a high level. Moreover, the DI np chart retains the operational simplicity of the np chart to a large degree and achieves the performance improvement without requiring extra inspection (testing whether a unit is conforming or not).  相似文献

A new control scheme is proposed by borrowing the idea of the Benjamini–Hochberg procedure for controlling the false discovery rate in multiple testing. It is shown theoretically that the proposed 2-span control scheme outperforms the Shewhart X-bar chart in terms of the average run length under any size of mean shifts. Some simulations are carried out to demonstrate that the proposed scheme having various span sizes always outperforms the X-bar chart in terms of the average run lengths.  相似文献

The monitoring of process/product profiles is presently a growing and promising area of research in statistical process control. This study is aimed at developing monitoring schemes for nonlinear profiles with random effects. We utilize the technique of principal components analysis to analyze the covariance structure of the profiles and propose monitoring schemes based on principal component (PC) scores. The number of the PC scores used in constructing control charts is crucial to the detecting power. In the Phase I analysis of historical data, due to the dependency of the PC-scores, we adopt the usual Hotelling T 2 chart to check the stability. For Phase II monitoring, we study individual PC-score control charts, a combined chart scheme that combines all the PC-score charts, and a T 2 chart. Although an individual PC-score chart may be perfect for monitoring a particular mode of variation, a chart that can detect general shifts, such as the T 2 chart and the combined chart scheme, is more feasible in practice. The performances of the schemes under study are evaluated in terms of the average run length.  相似文献

Recently, three-level control chart has been developed for monitoring situations in which an appropriate quality measure uses three discrete levels to classify a product characteristic. In this paper, the variable parameters control charts for multinomial data are developed with a three-level classification scheme. We compare it with various adaptive charts to show that this modified scheme can improve the performance. In order to evaluate and compare the performance of this scheme, adjusted average time to signal is used as the performance measure. Results indicate that the proposed chart has improved performance and is relatively sensitive to small shifts.  相似文献

Although the classical Shewhart np control chart has been widely used to detect an out-of-control status of manufacturing process, it is static and there is lack of responsiveness to slight process changes. In this paper, an adaptive np control chart with a joint sampling strategy combining double sampling (DS) and variable sampling interval (VSI) is developed. The multiple dependent state sampling scheme is adopted to further improve the performance of the control chart. An economical design model to minimize the general cost of using the proposed chart is established and solved by a genetic algorithm. The numerical results show that comparing to traditional static np control chart, the proposed np chart yields better performance in terms of shorter time to signal an out-of-control process and less expected cost per unit of time. Comparisons are made to show the capability of the proposed chart in yielding average reductions of 5.01% and 8.89%, in the cost of the proposed model compared to situations in which either the DSVSI np chart or the traditional np chart is used.  相似文献

In this paper, exponentially weighted moving average (EWMA) control charts for multinomial data are developed with a three-level classification scheme. The lower and upper control limits of the proposed EWMA control chart are evaluated using Markov chain approximation. Compared with the three-level Shewhart control chart, numerical results indicate that the proposed EWMA control chart is relatively sensitive to small shifts in a three-level multinomial process. A figure and a table are provided for practitioners to select the value of chart limit coefficient that gives the desired in-control average run length.  相似文献

The Shiryayev-Roberts control chart has been proposed as a powerful competitor of the Shewhart control chart and the CUSUM procedure, on theoretical grounds. We demonstrate here the application of a Shiryayev-Roberts control chart to a non-homogeneous Poisson process. We show that, from a data-analytic point of view, the Shiryayev-Roberts surveillance scheme has several advantages over classical CUSUM charts. A case study of power failure times in a computer centre is used to illustrate our main points.  相似文献

In this article, we propose a double-sampling (DS) np control chart. We assume that the time interval between samples is fixed. The choice of the design parameters of the proposed chart and also comparisons between charts are based on statistical properties, such as the average number of samples until a signal. The optimal design parameters of the proposed control chart are obtained. During the optimization procedure, constraints are imposed on the in-control average sample size and on the in-control average run length. In this way, required statistical properties can be assured. Varying some input parameters, the proposed DS np chart is compared with the single-sampling np chart, variable sample size np chart, CUSUM np and EWMA np charts. The comparisons are carried out considering the optimal design for each chart. For the ranges of parameters considered, the DS scheme is the fastest one for the detection of increases of 100% or more in the fraction non-conforming and, moreover, the DS np chart is easy to operate.  相似文献

A new S2 control chart is presented for monitoring the process variance by utilizing a repetitive sampling scheme. The double control limits called inner and outer control limits are proposed, whose coefficients are determined by considering the average run length (ARL) and the average sample number when the process is in control. The proposed control chart is compared with the existing Shewhart S2 control chart in terms of the ARLs. The result shows that the proposed control chart is more efficient than the existing control chart in detecting the process shift.  相似文献

Time Between Events (TBE) charts were proposed to monitor the time between events occur based on exponential distribution, and have been shown to be more effective than monitoring the fraction non conforming directly. In this article, we consider monitoring the TBE data with CUSUM scheme by transformation. The idea behind it is to transform the TBE data to normal, and then apply the CUSUM scheme for the approximate normal data. Several simple transformation methods are examined. The calculation of Average Run Length (ARL) with Markov chain approach is described. Comparative studies on the ARL performance show that the transformed CUSUM is superior to the X-MR (Moving Range) chart with transformation, the Cumulative Quantity Control (CQC) chart, and have comparable performance with exponential CUSUM charts. The design procedures of optimal CUSUM chart are also presented. This study provides another possible alternative for monitoring TBE data with easy design procedures and relatively good performance.  相似文献

The exponentially weighted moving average (EWMA) control chart is efficient in detecting small changes in process parameters but less efficient when the changes are relatively large, due to what is known as the inertia problem. To diminish the inertia, an adaptive EWMA (AEWMA) chart has been proposed for monitoring process locations to improve over the traditional EWMA charts. The basic idea of the AEWMA scheme is to dynamically weight the past observations according to a suitable function of the current prediction error. This article extends the idea of the AEWMA chart for monitoring process locations to the case of monitoring process dispersion. A Markov chain model is established to analyze and design the suggested chart. It is shown that the AEWMA dispersion chart performs better than the EWMA and other dispersion charts in terms of its ability to perform relatively well at both small and large changes in process dispersion.  相似文献

This paper proposes a new adaptive chart based on the Shiryaev–Roberts procedure, by updating the reference value in an adaptive way to achieve the aim of overall good performance over a range of future expected but unknown mean shifts. A two-dimensional Markov chain model is developed to analyze the run length performance. The design guidelines are given. The comparisons of run length performance of the proposed scheme and other charts show that the proposed chart provides quite effective detecting ability over a range of mean shift sizes. The implementation of the new chart is illustrated by a real data example.  相似文献

In this article, we propose a new control chart called the sum of squares generally weighted moving average (SS-GWMA) control chart to simultaneously detect both the increase and decrease in the mean and/or variability. This new scheme is compared with the sum of squares exponentially weighted moving average (SS-EWMA) control chart. A simulation study is conducted to show that SS-GWMA control charts outperform SS-EWMA charts, in terms of the average run length (ARL), standard deviation of run length (SDRL), and diagnostic abilities. The design of SS-GWMA control charts is also discussed.  相似文献

In this paper, a multivariate Bayesian variable sampling interval (VSI) control chart for the economic design and optimization of statistical parameters is designed. Based on the VSI sampling strategy of a multivariate Bayesian control chart with dual control limits, the optimal expected cost function is constructed. The proposed model allows the determination of the scheme parameters that minimize the expected cost per time of the process. The effectiveness of the Bayesian VSI chart is estimated through economic comparisons with the Bayesian fixed sampling interval and the Hotelling's T2 chart. This study is an in-depth study on a Bayesian multivariate control chart with variable parameter. Furthermore, it is shown that significant cost improvement may be realized through the new model.  相似文献

Control charts using repetitive group sampling have attracted a great deal of attention during the last few years. In the present article, we attempt to develop a control chart for the multivariate Poisson distribution using the repetitive group sampling scheme. In the proposed control chart, the monitoring statistic from the multivariate Poisson distribution has been used for the quick detection of the deteriorated process to avoid losses. The control coefficients have been estimated using the specified in-control average run lengths. The procedure of the proposed control chart has been explained by using the real-world example and a simulated data set. It has been observed that the proposed control chart is an efficient development for the quick detection of the nonrandom change in the manufacturing process.  相似文献
