The paper adopts both macro and micro perspectives to discuss interpretation and transfer of cultural images in Lu Ding Ji.Plentiful cultural images contained in the novel reflect unique Chinese traditional culture and show people a mystic and fancy world of martial arts.The transformation of these cultural images,due to great differences between Chinese and Western cultures,has been a difficult point of translation.It is discussed that in the case of The Deer and the Cauldron,the translator transmits and interprets unique cultural images of martial arts with flexible use of translating strategies to try his best to achieve integration of transmission of culture and clear paraphrasing of meanings for the purpose of attractingTL readers with Chinese culture.

Abstract： Thomas Piketty＇s research on capital in the 21st century mainly has made some a- nalysis on the accumulation and distribution of wealth in Europe and America in the past 250 years. His conclusion is that social inequality will intensify when the income value by capital grows faster than the value of economic growth and human capital was defeated by financial cap- ital and real estate capital. Inequality is not coincidental but an internal logic of capitalism. If the capitalism system is not changed, the meritocratic value which is capitalism faith will be under punch, and the capitalism democratic order and so--called ＂justice＂ will be threatened.     

Birds of Passage in Australian Colonial Context

By means of context analysis,the essay aims at constructing the connections between Australian colonial and post-colonial periods suggested in the novel Birds of Passage written by Australian writer,Brain Castro. Through a comparative analysis of its fictional characters,a macro panorama of the Australian colonial history and its post-colonial status quo is built up in three dimensions of context: culture,situation and co-text. With a special attention to the co-text of the novel,the gap between the colonial and the post-colonial periods is bridged,revealing that the earlier immigrants and their descendants are both lost on their way.

A Solitary Pilgrimage to Awakening

In this article Kate Chopin＇s The Awakening is analyzed in psychoanalytic feminist terms,focusing on the themes of maternity versus paternity.These themes are explored in terms of Edna＇s awakening pilgrimage.The interactions with those people around her make her awakening undergo two stages： the first one is that she awakens to want a true self as a human being;the second one is that she finds that as a female she can never be herself,because she refuses to compromise to the false selves reflected in those people around her.Thus she can only complete her pilgrimage from bewilderment to awakening by suicide,which is regarded as a victory to protect herself in the article rather than a defeat.     

The Motivation for the Conversation——Rationality

In 1957, Grice suggested the theory of meaning-nn as a theory of communication. Later, he developed Cooperative Principle (CP) as guidelines for the efficient and effective use of language in conversation. Some philosophers and linguists try to develop and modify the Grice's Cooperative Principle or attempt to challenge the validity of this and suggest some other principles. However, very few try to explore the driving force behind conversation. What is the mechanism underlying the use of a sentence to convey extra meaning? After a more detailed examination of Grice's work on philosophy and language, we discover that the importance of rationality is shown throughout his work. Therefore we can conclude that rationality, not the cooperation, is the real motivation, though Grice invents the Cooperative Principle. Cooperation is the realization of rationality applied at the level of discourse.
