Introduction
This is an introduction to a collection of articles ‐‐ “Affecting Global Movement: The Emotional Terrain of Transnationality” ‐‐ that explores discourses of emotion related to global movement. Research on migration rarely captures the affective and emotional dimensions of global processes. This issue is part of an emergent body of scholarship that bridges work on transnational migration with examinations of affect and emotion. Here, we discuss several common themes that the papers collectively address: how emotion shapes, negotiates, and mediates connectedness and disconnectedness along lines of nation, community, and/or kin; the relationship between emotionality and materiality; and the emotional aspects of structural power dynamics in diverse contexts. Such study can inform and aid in the development of policies that incorporate emotional experiences, thereby improving transnational lives.  相似文献

ABSTRACT

The paper considers the levels of coherence and dissonance between the education and training needs of social work practitioners working in a virtual environment and the focus of the requirements and learning and teaching approaches currently in use on social work programmes within education settings in England. The paper argues a gap exists in the way information and communication skills are currently conceptualised to support the education and training of social workers. It appears that e-learning is often considered in relation to its functional advantages and that similarly ICT skills are considered in terms of computer program literacy. The much wider question of the development of competence for virtual practice and how e-learning may support this development require much greater consideration and application.  相似文献

Introduction
Abstract

The author shares some practice experience and personal reflection on her introduction to working with people with disabilities. Recognizing that the construct of “disability” is in the eye of the beholder, she shares an outline for one approach to an introductory course in working with people with physical, cognitive and developmental, and psychiatric disabilities. Common themes in practice and service delivery are discussed, as well as the unique role social workers can play in interagency collaboration.  相似文献
