A stylized fact is that realized variance has long memory. We show that, when the instantaneous volatility is a long memory process of order d, the integrated variance is characterized by the same long-range dependence. We prove that the spectral density of realized variance is given by the sum of the spectral density of the integrated variance plus that of a measurement error, due to the sparse sampling and market microstructure noise. Hence, the realized volatility has the same degree of long memory as the integrated variance. The additional term in the spectral density induces a finite-sample bias in the semiparametric estimates of the long memory. A Monte Carlo simulation provides evidence that the corrected local Whittle estimator of Hurvich et al. (2005 Hurvich , C. M. , Moulines , E. , Soulier , P. ( 2005 ). A variety of statistical approaches have been suggested in the literature for the analysis of bounded outcome scores (BOS). In this paper, we suggest a statistical approach when BOSs are repeatedly measured over time and used as predictors in a regression model. Noting that many economic variables display occasional shifts in their second order moments, we investigate the performance of homogenous panel unit root tests in the presence of permanent volatility shifts. It is shown that in this case the test statistic proposed by Herwartz and Siedenburg (2008 Herwartz, H., Siedenburg, F. (2008). For the linear mixed model the approach leads to easily interpretable and computationally convenient expressions, not only highlighting influential subjects, but also which aspect of their profile leads to undue influence on the model's fit [17 E. Given the model's nonlinear structure, these authors did not derive interpretable components but rather focused on a graphical depiction of influence. In this paper, we consider GLMMs for binary, count, and time-to-event data, with the additional feature of accommodating overdispersion whenever necessary. For each situation, three approaches are considered, based on: (1) purely numerical derivations; (2) using a closed-form expression of the marginal likelihood function; and (3) using an integral representation of this likelihood. Unlike when case deletion is used, this leads to interpretable components, allowing not only to identify influential subjects, but also to study the cause thereof. This paper presents a new variable weight method, called the singular value decomposition (SVD) approach, for Kohonen competitive learning (KCL) algorithms based on the concept of Varshavsky et al. Integrating the weighted fuzzy c-means (FCM) algorithm with KCL, in this paper, we propose a weighted fuzzy KCL (WFKCL) algorithm. The goal of the proposed WFKCL algorithm is to reduce the clustering error rate when data contain some noise variables. Compared with the k-means, FCM and KCL with existing variable-weight methods, the proposed WFKCL algorithm with the proposed SVD's weight method provides a better clustering performance based on the error rate criterion. In this article, a generalized Lévy model is proposed and its parameters are estimated in high-frequency data settings. An infinitesimal generator of Lévy processes is used to study the asymptotic properties of the drift and volatility estimators. They are consistent asymptotically and are independent of other parameters making them better than those in Chen et al. (2010 Chen, S. X., Delaigle, A., Hall, P. (2010). Competing models arise naturally in many research fields, such as survival analysis and economics, when the same phenomenon of interest is explained by different researcher using different theories or according to different experiences. The model selection problem is therefore remarkably important because of its great importance to the subsequent inference; Inference under a misspecified or inappropriate model will be risky. Existing model selection tests such as Vuong's tests [26 Q.H. This article presents a new class of realized stochastic volatility model based on realized volatilities and returns jointly. We generalize the traditionally used logarithm transformation of realized volatility to the Box–Cox transformation, a more flexible parametric family of transformations. A two-step maximum likelihood estimation procedure is introduced to estimate this model on the basis of Koopman and Scharth (2013 Koopman, S.J., Scharth, M. (2013), The Analysis of Stochastic Volatility in the Presence of Daily Realised Measures, Journal of Financial Econometrics, 11, 76115.[Crossref], [Web of Science ®] [Google Scholar]). Simulation results show that the two-step estimator performs well, and the misspecified log transformation may lead to inaccurate parameter estimation and certain excessive skewness and kurtosis. This allows constructing joint confidence intervals of all such locally ordered break dates. We extend the results of Qu and Perron (2007 Qu, Z., Perron, P. (2007). First, we allow the covariates to be any mix of trends and stationary or integrated regressors. Second, we allow for breaks in the variance-covariance matrix of the errors. Via some simulation experiments, we show first that the limit distributions derived provide good approximations to the finite sample distributions. Several numerical examples also demonstrate the effectiveness and accuracy of the proposed clustering method, especially the robustness to initial values and noise. This article proposes a new likelihood-based panel cointegration rank test which extends the test of Örsal and Droge (2014 Örsal, D. D. K., Droge, B. (2014). Panel cointegration testing in the presence of a time trend.
