Let {Xt} be the stationary AR(p) process satisfying the difference equation Xt=β1Xt−1 + … + βpXtp+εt, where {εt} is a sequence of iid random variables with mean zero and finite variance. Motivated by a goodness of fit test on the true errors {εt}, we are led to study the asymptotic behavior of the quantile process based on residuals (the residual quantile process). Particularly, we concentrate on the deviations between the residual quantile process and the empirical process based on the true errors. In this asymptotic study, it is shown that the deviations converge to zero in probability uniformly over certain intervals with specific order as sample size increases. Here, these intervals are allowed to vary with the sample size n and converge to the unit interval as n goes to infinity. Then, based on our result and the strong approximation result of Csörgö and Révész (1978), we propose a goodness of fit test statistic of which limiting distribution is the same as of a functional form of a standard Brownian bridge.  相似文献

Let X = (Xj : j = 1,…, n) be n row vectors of dimension p independently and identically distributed multinomial. For each j, Xj is partitioned as Xj = (Xj1, Xj2, Xj3), where pi is the dimension of Xji with p1 = 1,p1+p2+p3 = p. In addition, consider vectors Yji, i = 1,2j = 1,…,ni that are independent and distributed as X1i. We treat here the problem of testing independence between X11 and X13 knowing that X11 and X12 are uncorrected. A locally best invariant test is proposed for this problem.  相似文献

Let X1, X2…,Xn be a random sample from [ILM0001] and let Y1, …,Yn be a random sample from [ILM0002]. Then instead of observing a complete sample X1,…Xn, we can only observe the pairs Zi. = min(Xi.,Yi) and [ILM0003] In this paper, we consider estimation of survival function [ILM0004] when [ILM0005], where β is an unknown positive real number.

The probability density function (pdf) of a two parameter exponential distribution is given by f(x; p, s?) =s?-1 exp {-(x - ρ)/s?} for x≥ρ and 0 elsewhere, where 0 < ρ < ∞ and 0 < s?∞. Suppose we have k independent random samples where the ith sample is drawn from the ith population having the pdf f(x; ρi, s?i), 0 < ρi < ∞, 0 < s?i < s?i < and f(x; ρ, s?) is as given above. Let Xi1 < Xi2 <… < Xiri denote the first ri order statistics in a random sample of size ni, drawn from the ith population with pdf f(x; ρi, s?i), i = 1, 2,…, k. In this paper we show that the well known tests of hypotheses about the parameters ρi, s?i, i = 1, 2,…, k based on the above observations are asymptotically optimal in the sense of Bahadur efficiency. Our results are similar to those for normal distributions.  相似文献

Let X1,…,Xr?1,Xr,Xr+1,…,Xn be independent, continuous random variables such that Xi, i = 1,…,r, has distribution function F(x), and Xi, i = r+1,…,n, has distribution function F(x?Δ), with -∞ <Δ< ∞. When the integer r is unknown, this is refered to as a change point problem with at most one change. The unknown parameter Δ represents the magnitude of the change and r is called the changepoint. In this paper we present a general review discussion of several nonparametric approaches for making inferences about r and Δ.  相似文献

Let (Xi, Yi), i = 1, 2,…, n, be n independent observations from a bivariate population and let X(n) = max Xi and Y(n) = max Yi. This article gives a necessary and sufficient condition for the weak convergence of the distribution function of (X(n), Y(n)) to a nondegenerate distribution.  相似文献

Let π1,…,πp be p independent normal populations with means μ1…, μp and variances σ21,…, σ2p respectively. Let X(ni) be a simple random sample of size ni from πi, i = 1,…,p. Given the simple random samples X(n1),…, X(np) from π1,…,πp respectively, a test has been proposed for testing the homogeneity of variances H0: σ21=…σ2p, against the restricted alternative, H1: σ21≥…≥σ2p, with at least one strict inequality. Some properties of the test are discussed and critical values are tabulated.  相似文献

ABSTRACT

In this article, we consider a (k + 1)n-dimensional elliptically contoured random vector (XT1, X2T, …, XTk, ZT)T = (X11, …, X1n, …, Xk1, …, Xkn, Z1, …, Zn)T and derive the distribution of concomitant of multivariate order statistics arising from X1, X2, …, Xk. Specially, we derive a mixture representation for concomitant of bivariate order statistics. The joint distribution of the concomitant of bivariate order statistics is also obtained. Finally, the usefulness of our result is illustrated by a real-life data.  相似文献

Let T2 i=z′iS?1zi, i==,…k be correlated Hotelling's T2 statistics under normality. where z=(z′i,…,z′k)′ and nS are independently distributed as Nkp((O,ρ?∑) and Wishart distribution Wp(∑, n), respectively. The purpose of this paper is to study the distribution function F(x1,…,xk) of (T2 i,…,T2 k) when n is large. First we derive an asymptotic expansion of the characteristic function of (T2 i,…,T2 k) up to the order n?2. Next we give asymptotic expansions for (T2 i,…,T2 k) in two cases (i)ρ=Ik and (ii) k=2 by inverting the expanded characteristic function up to the orders n?2 and n?1, respectively. Our results can be applied to the distribution function of max (T2 i,…,T2 k) as a special case.  相似文献

For X1, …, XN a random sample from a distribution F, let the process SδN(t) be defined as where K2N = σNi=1(ci ? c?)2 and R xi, + Δd, is the rank of Xi + Δdi, among X1 + Δd1, …, XN + ΔdN. The purpose of this note is to prove that, under certain regularity conditions on F and on the constants ci and di, SΔN (t) is asymptotically approximately a linear function of Δ, uniformly in t and in Δ, |Δ| ≤ C. The special case of two samples is considered.  相似文献

Let GF(s) be the finite field with s elements.(Thus, when s=3, the elements of GF(s) are 0, 1 and 2.)Let A(r×n), of rank r, and ci(i=1,…,f), (r×1), be matrices over GF(s). (Thus, for n=4, r=2, f=2, we could have A=[11100121], c1=[10], c2=[02].) Let Ti (i=1,…,f) be the flat in EG(n, s) consisting of the set of all the sn?r solutions of the equations At=ci, wheret′=(t1,…,tn) is a vector of variables.(Thus, EG(4, 3) consists of the 34=81 points of the form (t1,t2,t3,t4), where t's take the values 0,1,2 (in GF(3)). The number of solutions of the equations At=ci is sn?r, where r=Rank(A), and the set of such solutions is said to form an (n?r)-flat, i.e. a flat of (n?r) dimensions. In our example, both T1 and T2 are 2-flats consisting of 34?2=9 points each. The flats T1,T2,…,Tf are said to be parallel since, clearly, no two of them can have a common point. In the example, the points of T1 are (1000), (0011), (2022), (0102), (2110), (1121), (2201), (1212) and (0220). Also, T2 consists of (0002), (2010), (1021), (2101), (1112), (0120), (1200), (0211) and (2222).) Let T be the fractional design for a sn symmetric factorial experiment obtained by taking T1,T2,…,Tf together. (Thus, in the example, 34=81 treatments of the 34 factorial experiment correspond one-one with the points of EG(4,3), and T will be the design (i.e. a subset of the 81 treatments) consisting of the 18 points of T1 and T2 enumerated above.)In this paper, we lay the foundation of the general theory of such ‘parallel’ types of designs. We define certain functions of A called the alias component matrices, and use these to partition the coefficient matrix X (n×v), occuring in the corresponding linear model, into components X.j(j=0,1,…,g), such that the information matrix X is the direct sum of the X′.jX.j. Here, v is the total number of parameters, which consist of (possibly μ), and a (general) set of (geometric) factorial effects (each carrying (s?1) degrees of freedom as usual). For j≠0, we show that the spectrum of X′.jX.j does not change if we change (in a certain important way) the usual definition of the effects. Assuming that such change has been adopted, we consider the partition of the X.j into the Xij (i=1,…,f). Furthermore, the Xij are in turn partitioned into smaller matrices (which we shall here call the) Xijh. We show that each Xijh can be factored into a product of 3 matrices J, ζ (not depending on i,j, and h) and Q(j,h,i)where both the Kronecker and ordinary product are used. We introduce a ring R using the additive groups of the rational field and GF(s), and show that the Q(j,h,i) belong to a ring isomorphic to R. When s is a prime number, we show that R is the cyclotomic field. Finally, we show that the study of the X.j and X′.jX.j can be done in a much simpler manner, in terms of certain relatively small sized matrices over R.  相似文献

Let X be a discrete random variable the set of possible values (finite or infinite) of which can be arranged as an increasing sequence of real numbers a1<a2<a3<…. In particular, ai could be equal to i for all i. Let X1nX2n≦?≦Xnn denote the order statistics in a random sample of size n drawn from the distribution of X, where n is a fixed integer ≧2. Then, we show that for some arbitrary fixed k(2≦kn), independence of the event {Xkn=X1n} and X1n is equivalent to X being either degenerate or geometric. We also show that the montonicity in i of P{Xkn = X1n | X1n = ai} is equivalent to X having the IFR (DFR) property. Let ai = i and G(i) = P(X≧i), i = 1, 2, …. We prove that the independence of {X2n ? X1nB} and X1n for all i is equivalent to X being geometric, where B = {m} (B = {m,m+1,…}), provided G(i) = qi?1, 1≦im+2 (1≦im+1), where 0<q<1.  相似文献

Let Sn = X1 + … + Xn, where X1,…, Xn are independent Bernoulli random variables. In this paper, we evaluate probability metrics of the Wasserstein type between the distribution of Sn and a Poisson distribution. Our results show that, if E(Sn) = O(1) and if the individual probabilities of success of the Xi's tend uniformly to zero, then the general rate of convergence of the above mentioned metrics to zero is O(∑ni = 1P2i). We also show that this rate is sharp and discuss applications of these results.  相似文献

Let X1 X2 … XN be independent normal p-vectors with common mean vector $$ = ($$) and common nonsingular covariance matrix $$ = Diag ($sGi) [(1–p) I + pE] Diag ($sGi), $sGi> 0, i = 1… p, 1>p>=1/p–1. This paper develops a conditional approach to testing hypotheses set up after viewing the data. For example, suppose Xi are estimates of location parameters θi, i = 1,…n. We show how to compute p-values for testing whether θ1 is one of the three largest θi after observing that X1 is one of the three largest Xi, or for testing whether θ1 > θ2 > … > θn after observing X1 >X2> … >Xn.  相似文献

Let X1, …, Xn be independent random variables with XiEWG(α, β, λi, pi), i = 1, …, n, and Y1, …, Yn be another set of independent random variables with YiEWG(α, β, γi, qi), i = 1, …, n. The results established here are developed in two directions. First, under conditions p1 = ??? = pn = q1 = ??? = qn = p, and based on the majorization and p-larger orders between the vectors of scale parameters, we establish the usual stochastic and reversed hazard rate orders between the series and parallel systems. Next, for the case λ1 = ??? = λn = γ1 = ??? = γn = λ, we obtain some results concerning the reversed hazard rate and hazard rate orders between series and parallel systems based on the weak submajorization between the vectors of (p1, …, pn) and (q1, …, qn). The results established here can be used to find various bounds for some important aging characteristics of these systems, and moreover extend some well-known results in the literature.  相似文献

Consider an ergodic Markov chain X(t) in continuous time with an infinitesimal matrix Q = (qij) defined on a finite state space {0, 1,…, N}. In this note, we prove that if X(t) is skip-free positive (negative, respectively), i.e., qij, = 0 for j > i+ 1 (i > j+ 1), then the transition probability pij(t) = Pr[X(t)=j | X(0) =i] can be represented as a linear combination of p0N(t) (p(m)(N0)(t)), 0 ≤ m ≤N, where f(m)(t) denotes the mth derivative of a function f(t) with f(0)(t) =f(t). If X(t) is a birth-death process, then pij(t) is represented as a linear combination of p0N(m)(t), 0 ≤mN - |i-j|.  相似文献

Let X1, X2, …, Xm be successive observations on m objects, numbered 1,2, …, m. If X1 belongs to the n largest observations among X1,X2,…,Xi, object i is called a record, i = 1,2,…,m; n?1.In investigating the influence of the ranking of the objects on the expected number of records, a hierarchy of stochastic order relations between random variables arises. It is these order relations and their relationship with known stochastic orderings that are studied in this paper.  相似文献

Consider the process with, cf. (1.2) on page 265 in B1, X1, …, XN a sample from a distribution F and, for i = 1, …, N, R |x 1 , - q 1 ø| , the rank of |X1 - q1ø| among |X1 - q1ø|, …, |XN - qNø|. It is shown that, under certain regularity conditions on F and on the constants pi and qi, TøN(t) is asymptotically approximately a linear function of ø uniformly in t and in ø for |ø| ≤ C. The special case where the pi and the qi, are independent of i is considered.  相似文献

We consider a centered stochastic process {X(t):tT} with known and continuous covariance function. On the basis of observations X(t1), …, X(tn) we approximate the whole path by orthogonal projection and measure the performance of the chosen design d = (t1, …, tn)′ by the corresponding mean squared L2-distance. For covariance functions on T2 = [0, 1]2, which satisfy a generalized Sacks-Ylvisaker regularity condition of order zero, we construct asymptotically optimal sequences of designs. Moreover, we characterize the achievement of a lower error bound, given by Micchelli and Wahba (1981), and study the question of whether this bound can be attained.  相似文献
