Race Celebrates Women's Conference

ON the morning of February 26, a sea of enthusiastic women dressed in running suits converged upon Tiananmen Square for the start of the "Go to Beijing" distance race to celebrate the 85th anniversary of International Women's Day and to welcome the UN Fourth World Conference on Women (FWCW). The crowd included thousands of women from China and abroad. Vice President Rong Yiren, Qian Qichen, Vice-Premier and Minister of Foreign Affairs, Chen Muhua, Vice-Chairperson of National People's Congress (NPC) and President of the All-China Women's Federation, Lei Jieqiong, Vice-Chairperson of the NPC, and Peng Peiyun, State Councillor and Chairperson of the FWCW China Organizing Committee,

March 8 marks International Women's Day each year.To commemorate the occasion this year,Chinese President Xi Jinping on March 6 extended festive greetings and best wishes to Chinese women,from all ethnic groups,and from all walks of life,when he participated in a joint group meeting during the fifth session of the 13th National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference(CPPCC),the nation's top political advisory body.     

Splendid Arts Fram Ancient Capitals

IT was in the golden autumn in Beijing, when the sky was high and the air clear, that I hurried to Zhongshan Park to witness the display of the songs and dances of the seven Chinese ancient capitals. The flower beds arranged for the celebration of National Day were still there and the colorful blooms looked especially bright in the sunshine. What Are the‘2 NPAs’?什么是"两纲"? The"2 NPAs"refer to the National Program for Women's Development (2001-2010) and the National Program for Children's Development (2001-2010). Prior to the 2 NPAs,China had issued the National Program for Women's Development (1995-2000) and the National Program of Action for Child Development in China in the 1990s.
