In this article, we consider estimating the bivariate cause-specific distribution function when both components are subject to double censoring. We propose two types of estimators as generalizations of the Dabrowska and Campbell and Földes estimators. The asymptotical properties of the proposed estimators are established. A simulation study is conducted to investigate the performance of the proposed estimators.  相似文献

Summary. Consider a pair of random variables, both subject to random right censoring. New estimators for the bivariate and marginal distributions of these variables are proposed. The estimators of the marginal distributions are not the marginals of the corresponding estimator of the bivariate distribution. Both estimators require estimation of the conditional distribution when the conditioning variable is subject to censoring. Such a method of estimation is proposed. The weak convergence of the estimators proposed is obtained. A small simulation study suggests that the estimators of the marginal and bivariate distributions perform well relatively to respectively the Kaplan–Meier estimator for the marginal distribution and the estimators of Pruitt and van der Laan for the bivariate distribution. The use of the estimators in practice is illustrated by the analysis of a data set.  相似文献

Doubly truncated data appear in a number of applications, including astronomy and survival analysis. For double-truncated data, the lifetime T is observable only when UTV, where U and V are the left-truncated and right-truncated time, respectively. In some situations, the lifetime T also suffers interval censoring. Using the EM algorithm of Turnbull [The empirical distribution function with arbitrarily grouped censored and truncated data, J. R. Stat. Soc. Ser. B 38 (1976), pp. 290–295] and iterative convex minorant algorithm [P. Groeneboom and J.A. Wellner, Information Bounds and Nonparametric Maximum Likelihood Estimation, Birkhäuser, Basel, 1992], we study the performance of the nonparametric maximum-likelihood estimates (NPMLEs) of the distribution function of T. Simulation results indicate that the NPMLE performs adequately for the finite sample.  相似文献

The Cox proportional frailty model with a random effect has been proposed for the analysis of right-censored data which consist of a large number of small clusters of correlated failure time observations. For right-censored data, Cai et al. [3] proposed a class of semiparametric mixed-effects models which provides useful alternatives to the Cox model. We demonstrate that the approach of Cai et al. [3] can be used to analyze clustered doubly censored data when both left- and right-censoring variables are always observed. The asymptotic properties of the proposed estimator are derived. A simulation study is conducted to investigate the performance of the proposed estimator.  相似文献

Double censoring often occurs in registry studies when left censoring is present in addition to right censoring. In this work, we examine estimation of Aalen's nonparametric regression coefficients based on doubly censored data. We propose two estimation techniques. The first type of estimators, including ordinary least squared (OLS) estimator and weighted least squared (WLS) estimators, are obtained using martingale arguments. The second type of estimator, the maximum likelihood estimator (MLE), is obtained via expectation-maximization (EM) algorithms that treat the survival times of left censored observations as missing. Asymptotic properties, including the uniform consistency and weak convergence, are established for the MLE. Simulation results demonstrate that the MLE is more efficient than the OLS and WLS estimators.  相似文献

In medical research, it is common to have doubly censored survival data: origin time and event time are both subject to censoring. In this paper, we review simple and probability-based methods that are used to impute interval censored origin time and compare the performance of these methods through extensive simulations in the one-sample problem, two-sample problem and Cox regression model problem. Right, left or interval censored multivariate data can be represented by an intersection graph. Focussing on the bivariate case, the authors relate the structure of such an intersection graph to the support of the nonparametric maximum likelihood estimate (NPMLE) of the cumulative distribution function (CDF) for such data. They distinguish two types of non‐uniqueness of the NPMLE: representational, arising when the likelihood is unaffected by the distribution of the estimated probability mass within regions, and mixture, arising when the masses themselves are not unique. It is well-known that, under Type II double censoring, the maximum likelihood (ML) estimators of the location and scale parameters, θ and δ, of a twoparameter exponential distribution are linear functions of the order statistics. In contrast, when θ is known, theML estimator of δ does not admit a closed form expression. It is shown, however, that theML estimator of the scale parameter exists and is unique. Moreover, it has good large-sample properties. In addition, sharp lower and upper bounds for this estimator are provided, which can serve as starting points for iterative interpolation methods such as regula falsi. Explicit expressions for the expected Fisher information and Cramér-Rao lower bound are also derived. In the Bayesian context, assuming an inverted gamma prior on δ, the uniqueness, boundedness and asymptotics of the highest posterior density estimator of δ can be deduced in a similar way. In longitudinal studies, the additive hazard model is often used to analyze covariate effects on the duration time, defined as the elapsed time between the first and the second event. In this article, we consider the situation when the first event suffers partly interval censoring and the second event suffers left truncation and right-censoring. We proposed a two-step estimation procedure for estimating the regression coefficients of the additive hazards model. A simulation study is conducted to investigate the performance of the proposed estimator. The proposed method is applied to the Centers for Disease Control acquired immune deficiency syndrome blood transfusion data.  相似文献

In many medical studies, patients may experience several events during follow-up. The times between consecutive events (gap times) are often of interest and lead to problems that have received much attention recently. In this work, we consider the estimation of the bivariate distribution function for censored gap times. Some related problems such as the estimation of the marginal distribution of the second gap time and the conditional distribution are also discussed. In this article, we introduce a nonparametric estimator of the bivariate distribution function based on Bayes’ theorem and Kaplan–Meier survival function and explore the behavior of the four estimators through simulations. This paper presents a step-stress accelerated life test for two stress variables to obtain optimal hold times under a Type-I hybrid censoring scheme. An exponentially distributed life and a cumulative exposure model are assumed. The maximum-likelihood estimates are given, from which the asymptotic variance and the Fisher information matrix are obtained. The optimal test plan is determined for each combination of stress levels by minimizing the asymptotic variance of reliability estimate at a typical operating condition. Finally, simulation results are discussed to illustrate the proposed criteria. Simulation results show that the proposed optimum plan is robust, and the initial estimates have a small effect on optimal values.  相似文献

A mixture model is proposed to analyze a bivariate interval censored data with cure rates. There exist two types of association related with bivariate failure times and bivariate cure rates, respectively. A correlation coefficient is adopted for the association of bivariate cure rates and a copula function is applied for bivariate survival times. The conditional expectation of unknown quantities attributable to interval censored data and cure rates are calculated in the E-step in ES (Expectation-Solving algorithm) and the marginal estimates and the association measures are estimated in the S-step through a two-stage procedure. A simulation study is performed to evaluate the suggested method and a real data from HIV patients is analyzed as a real data example.  相似文献

The generalized exponential distribution proposed by Gupta and Kundu [Gupta, R.D and Kundu, D., 1999, Generalized exponential distributions. Australian and New Zealand Journal of Statistics, 41(2), 173–188.] is an important lifetime distribution in survival analysis. In this paper, we consider the maximum likelihood estimation procedure of the parameters of the generalized exponential distribution when the data are left censored. We obtain the maximum likelihood estimators of the unknown para-meters and the Fisher information matrix. In this paper we consider the estimation of the coefficient of tail dependence and of small tail probability under a bivariate randomly censoring mechanism. A new class of generalized moment estimators of the coefficient of tail dependence and the estimator of small tail probability are proposed, respectively. Under the bivariate Hall-type conditions, the asymptotic distributions of these estimators are established. We present a methodology for computing the point and interval maximum likelihood parameter estimation for the two-parameter generalized Pareto distribution (GPD) with censored data. The basic idea underlying our method is a reduction of the two-dimensional numerical search for the zeros of the GPD log-likelihood gradient vector to a one-dimensional numerical search. We describe a computationally efficient algorithm which implement this approach. Two illustrative examples are presented. Simulation results indicate that the estimates derived by maximum likelihood estimation are more reliable against those of method of moments. An evaluation of the practical sample size requirements for the asymptotic normality is also included.  相似文献

This paper proposes a class of nonparametric estimators for the bivariate survival function estimation under both random truncation and random censoring. In practice, the pair of random variables under consideration may have certain parametric relationship. The proposed class of nonparametric estimators uses such parametric information via a data transformation approach and thus provides more accurate estimates than existing methods without using such information. The large sample properties of the new class of estimators and a general guidance of how to find a good data transformation are given. The proposed method is also justified via a simulation study and an application on an economic data set.  相似文献

In this article, we consider some problems of estimation and prediction when progressive Type-I interval censored competing risks data are from the proportional hazards family. The maximum likelihood estimators of the unknown parameters are obtained. Based on gamma priors, the Lindely's approximation and importance sampling methods are applied to obtain Bayesian estimators under squared error and linear–exponential loss functions. Several classical and Bayesian point predictors of censored units are provided. Also, based on given producer's and consumer's risks accepting sampling plans are considered. Finally, the simulation study is given by Monte Carlo simulations to evaluate the performances of the different methods.  相似文献

The purpose of this paper is to present a semi-parametric estimation of a survival function when analyzing incomplete and doubly censored data. Under the assumption that the chance of censoring is not related to the individual's survivorship, we propose a consistent estimation of survival. The derived estimator treats the uncensored observations nonparametrically and uses parametric models for both right and left censored data. Some asymptotic properties and simulation studies are also presented in order to analyze the behavior of the proposed estimator.  相似文献
