In August 2006, Peters, who had once worked as an artist and a teacher in the US, traveled to China. Why? She was searching for a magical coat, which she had seen in a book about textiles when she was a student in Paris. She eventually found the coat in Guizhou, and she quickly realized it was an item of the Miao ethnic groups' traditional clothing. Peters met many Miao people in Guizhou, and she was fascinated by the minority group's history, culture and beautifully made crafts, such as the batik-dyed clothes.  相似文献

Of all the interpersonal relationships a woman will have, the one with her best friend will be the most special friendship. The special friendship between two women who are best friends has oft been discussed and the center of attention in novels and films. In Chinese, a woman's closest friend is called guhni. Perhaps the writers and playwrights were inspired by their own or their friends' stories about guimi, and that prompted them to produce works that addressed the topic. Such works have reminded many people of their own friends. Guimi has become a popular term in recent years. If you search the term guimi on the lnternet, you will find countless entries, and you will notice that many websites and BBS (bulletin board system) include guimi in their names.  相似文献

Qin stood on the stage and smiled. He wore a Qing Dynasty sapphire blue robe with dragon patterns embroidered in gold thread. AS I walk toward the autumn of my life, I begin to realize that everything in the world seems to have moved in a cycle, like the four seasons that continue to change and renew outside my window. But I am still seated in front of my window, observing the floating clouds at the ends of the earth. Some of them float from the future, some from the past. They join at the head and the tail of the universe; it is hard to tell the dragon's head from the dragon's tail. Things are always like this—the beginnings and the endings are sometimes interchangeable; the things that you think have gone by, have gone far away or completely vanished will suddenly appear before you like old acquaintances. Perhaps it might be the second generation accompanied by the shadows of the first.  相似文献

Others twiddled their fingers and lowered their heads. The teacher in charge of the class called a student's name, "Come, you answer it." "A tomato grows on a plate." Dear Women of China Thank you for a wonderful September issue. The cover photo was both sad and uplifting. I was drawn by the little boy's determined face and the title mentioning Zhouqu. I knew it had to be some kind,of disaster, and reading about the relief efforts and the people affected was touching. In the past two years, China has seen quite a few natural disasters. I wonder what may have caused these problems to begin with. I hope that the people in China will have safer futures.  相似文献
