We present influence diagnostics for linear measurement error models with stochastic linear restrictions using the corrected likelihood of Nakamura in 1990. The case deletion and mean shift outlier models are developed to identify outlying and influential observations. We derive a corrected score test statistic for outlier detection based on mean shift outlier models. The analogs of Cook's distance and likelihood distance are proposed to determine influential observations based on case deletion models. A parametric bootstrap procedure is used to obtain empirical distributions of the test statistics and a simulation study has been used to evaluate the performance of the proposed estimators based on the mean squares error criterion and the score test statistic. Finally, a numerical example is given to illustrate the theoretical results.  相似文献

The portmanteau statistic is commonly used for testing goodness-of-fit of time series models. However, this lack of fit test may depend on one or several atypical observations in the series. We investigate the sensitivity of the portmanteau statistic in the presence of additive outliers. Diagnostics are developed to assess both local and global influence. Three practical examples demonstrate the usefulness of the proposed diagnostics.  相似文献

When performing the Wald-Wolfowitz runs test, observations from two samples are combined and ordered, and the test statistic is the number of sequences of observations from the same sample. This test statistic is equivalent to the number of links between observations from different samples, if we consider each observation to be linked to the next higher and next lower observations. While it is known that the Wald-Wolfowitz runs test is not very powerful, what would be the effect on the power of the Wald-Wolfowitz runs test if all observations within a specified Euclidean distance or “tolerance” were linked instead? This question is motivated by the simulation results of Whaley and Quade (1985), who found that for normal data, the power of the multi-dimensional runs test using a linkage tolerance compared favorably to Hotelling's T2 in some instances. The results of a similar simulation procedure show that the power of the Wald-Wolfowitz runs test does indeed improve when observations are linked using a tolerance. The results also suggest that a better large sample approximation to the distribution of the test statistic needs to be found.  相似文献

The locally most powerful rank test is derived for testing independence of two random variables with possible missing observations on both responses. The test statistic has a simple form and can be easily obtained. For the purpose of practical use, the asymptotic null distribution of the test statistic is also provided.  相似文献

Five widely used test statistics for detecting outliers and influential observations were studied using Monte Carlo method . The test statistic based on Studentized residuals, with critical values given by Tietjen, Moore and Beckman (1973), appears to be the best procedure for detecting a single outlier in simple linear regression.  相似文献

This paper presents the results of a small sample simulation study designed to evaluate the performance of a recently proposed test statistic for the analysis of correlated binary data. The new statistic is an adjusted Mantel-Haenszel test, which may be used in testing for association between a binary exposure and a binary outcome of interest across several fourfold tables when the data have been collected under a cluster sampling design. Al- though originally developed for the analysis of periodontal data, the proposed method may be applied to clustered binary data arising in a variety of settings, including longitu- dinal studies, family studies, and school-based research. The features of the simulation are intended to mimic those of a research study of periodontal health, in which a large number of observations is made on each of a relatively small number of patients. The simulation reveals that the adjusted test statistic performs well in finite samples, having empirical type I error rates close to nominal and empirical power similar to that of more complicated marginal regression methods. Software for computing the adjusted statistic is also provided.  相似文献

A distribution‐free test is proposed for the symmetry of a continuous distribution about a specified median. The test is based on a longest run statistic on the upper portion of the sequence of ordered ‘centred’ observations in magnitude. The probability distribution of the longest run statistic is derived, and a computationally simple and accurate approximation of the right‐tail probabilities of this statistic is given. This approximation is based on a partial fraction expansion of the corresponding generating function and is derived for use with large samples. The powers of the proposed test, some variations of the test, and other rival tests are investigated under a wide variety of asymmetric alternatives. Simulations indicate that the proposed test is competitive with other tests in terms of power performance.  相似文献

Summary.  The analysis of covariance is a technique that is used to improve the power of a k -sample test by adjusting for concomitant variables. If the end point is the time of survival, and some observations are right censored, the score statistic from the Cox proportional hazards model is the method that is most commonly used to test the equality of conditional hazard functions. In many situations, however, the proportional hazards model assumptions are not satisfied. Specifically, the relative risk function is not time invariant or represented as a log-linear function of the covariates. We propose an asymptotically valid k -sample test statistic to compare conditional hazard functions which does not require the assumption of proportional hazards, a parametric specification of the relative risk function or randomization of group assignment. Simulation results indicate that the performance of this statistic is satisfactory. The methodology is demonstrated on a data set in prostate cancer.  相似文献

A new test statistic based on runs of weighted deviations is introduced. Its use for observations sampled from independent normal distributions is worked out in detail. It supplements the classic χ2 test which ignores the ordering of observations and provides additional sensitivity to local deviations from expectations. The exact distribution of the statistic in the non-parametric case is derived and an algorithm to compute p-values is presented. The computational complexity of the algorithm is derived employing a novel identity for integer partitions.  相似文献

The widely-used Tietjen—Moore multiple outlier statistic has a defect as originally proposed in that it may test the wrong observations as outliers. The defect is corrected by redefinition and the statistic extended to make use of possible additional information on underlying variance. Results of simulation of the revised statistic are presented.  相似文献

Classical results on the asymptotic distribution of the likelihood ratio statistic rely on the assumption that the model chosen to construct the test statistic be correct. The model is said to be correct if it contains the true distribution of the observations. In this paper the asymptotic distribution of the likelihood ratio statistic is derived without the condition that the model need be correct.  相似文献

This paper deals with testing equality of variances of observations in the different treatment groups assuming treatment effects are fixed. We study the distribution of a test statistic which is known to perform comparably well with other statistics for the same purpose under normality. The statistic we consider is based on Shannon’s entropy for a distribution function. We will derive the asymptotic expansion for the distribution of the test statistic based on Shannon’s entropy under nonnormality and numerically examine its performance in comparison with the modified likelihood ratio criteria for normal and some nonnormal populations.   相似文献

Hotelling's T2 statistic has many applications in multivariate analysis. In particular, it can be used to measure the influence that a particular observation vector has on parameter estimation. For example, in the bivariate case, there exists a direct relationship between the ellipse generated using a T2 statistic for individual observations and the hyperbolae generated using Hampel's influence function for the corresponding correlation coefficient. In this paper, we jointly use the components of an orthogonal decomposition of the T2 statistic and some influence functions to identify outliers or influential observations. Since the conditional components in the T2 statistic are related to the possible changes in the correlation between a variable and a group of other variables, we consider the theoretical influence functions of the correlations and multiple correlation coefficients. Finite-sample versions of these influence functions are used to find the estimated influence function values.  相似文献

A closed form expression for the distribution of a test statistic for comparing the spectral densities of stationary processes is given. This test statistic was introduced by COATES and DIGGLE ( 1986 ) for the unreplicated case and has been extended to the case of replicated observations by POTSCHER and RESCHENHOFER ( 1988 ). A simple method for computing approximate critical values in case of large numbers of replications is also provided. As a by-product an explicit expression for the distribution function of the range of independent variates each distributed as the logarithm of an F-variate i.e up to a factor of 2 each followin Fishers z-distriution is obtained  相似文献

SUMMARY The local influence method is adapted to investigate the influence of observations on testing the linear hypothesis. The method provides information about individually or jointly influential observations in performing the test, which the usual diagnostic methods do not yield. An example is presented for illustration of the method.  相似文献

The analysis of covariance procedure is considered when the observations in each cell are equicorrelated. A correction procedure is given, A computationally easier conservative test statistic is also given. The conservative test statistic allows one to more readily determine the consequences of ignoring correlations, even slight correlations, in the analysis of covariance procedure. The difference of the corrected test and the conservative test is shown to converge in probability to zero. This conservative test is easy to implement on statistical computer packages, It is shown, that for the general correlation pattern, any test involving the regression coefficients of the covariables is an exact test. An example illustrates the procedure  相似文献

The Lilliefors test, which was developed by Lilliefors (1967), is a well-known test for univariate normality when population parameters are unknown. The main assumption for implementing the test is the independent-data assumption. This paper demonstrates the robustness of the Lilliefors test against equicorrelated observations. More specifically, we show that the null distribution of the Lilliefors test statistic is invariant under the alternate assumption that the observations are equicorrelated.  相似文献

In this study, testing the equality of mean vectors in a one-way multivariate analysis of variance (MANOVA) is considered when each dataset has a monotone pattern of missing observations. The likelihood ratio test (LRT) statistic in a one-way MANOVA with monotone missing data is given. Furthermore, the modified test (MT) statistic based on likelihood ratio (LR) and the modified LRT (MLRT) statistic with monotone missing data are proposed using the decomposition of the LR and an asymptotic expansion for each decomposed LR. The accuracy of the approximation for the Chi-square distribution is investigated using a Monte Carlo simulation. Finally, an example is given to illustrate the methods.  相似文献

An asymptotic expansion is given for the distribution of the α-th largest latent root of a correlation matrix, when the observations are from a multivariate normal distribution. An asymptotic expansion for the distribution of a test statistic based on a correlation matrix, which is useful in dimensionality reduction in principal component analysis, is also given. These expansions hold when the corresponding latent root of the population correlation matrix is simple. The approach here is based on a perturbation method.  相似文献
