Supersaturated designs (SSDs) offer a potentially useful way to investigate many factors with only few experiments in the preliminary stages of experimentation. This paper explores how to construct E(fNOD)E(fNOD)-optimal mixed-level SSDs using k-cyclic generators. The necessary and sufficient conditions for the existence of mixed-level k-circulant SSDs with the equal occurrence property are provided. Properties of the mixed-level k  -circulant SSDs are investigated, in particular, the sufficient condition under which the generator vector produces an E(fNOD)E(fNOD)-optimal SSD is obtained. Moreover, many new E(fNOD)E(fNOD)-optimal mixed-level SSDs are constructed and listed. The method here generalizes the one proposed by Liu and Dean [2004. kk-circulant supersaturated designs. Technometrics 46, 32–43] for two-level SSDs and the one due to Georgiou and Koukouvinos [2006. Multi-level k-circulant supersaturated designs. Metrika 64, 209–220] for the multi-level case.  相似文献

The purpose of the present work is to extend the work of Gupta et al. (2010) to s  -level column balanced supersaturated designs. Addition of runs to an existing E(χ2)-optimalE(χ2)-optimal supersaturated design and to study the optimality of the resulting design is an important issue. This paper considers the study of the optimality of the resulting design. A lower bound to E(χ2)E(χ2) has been obtained for the extended supersaturated designs. Some examples and a small catalogue of E(χ2)-optimalE(χ2)-optimal supersaturated designs are also presented.  相似文献

The purpose of this article is to introduce a new class of extended E(s2)-optimal two level supersaturated designs obtained by adding runs to an existing E(s2)-optimal two level supersaturated design. The extended design is a union of two optimal SSDs belonging to different classes. New lower bound to E(s2) has been obtained for the extended supersaturated designs. Some examples and a small catalogue of E(s2)-optimal SSDs are also included.  相似文献

Supersaturated designs are an increasingly popular tool for screening factors in the presence of effect sparsity. The advantage of this class of designs over resolution III factorial designs or Plackett–Burman designs is that n, the number of runs, can be substantially smaller than the number of factors, m. A limitation associated with most supersaturated designs produced thus far is that the capability of these designs for estimating g active effects has not been discussed. In addition to exploring this capability, we develop a new class of model-robust supersaturated designs that, for a given n and m, maximizes the number g   of active effects that can be estimated simultaneously. The capabilities of model-robust supersaturated designs for model discrimination are assessed using a model-discrimination criterion, the subspace angle. Finally, we introduce the class of partially supersaturated designs, intended for use when we require a specific subset of m1m1 core factors to be estimable, and the sparsity of effects principle applies to the remaining (m-m1m-m1) factors.  相似文献

This article proposes an algorithm to construct efficient balanced multi-level k-circulant supersaturated designs with m factors and n runs. The algorithm generates efficient balanced multi-level k-circulant supersaturated designs very fast. Using the proposed algorithm many balanced multi-level supersaturated designs are constructed and cataloged. A list of many optimal and near optimal, multi-level supersaturated designs is also provided for m ≤ 60 and number of levels (q) ≤10. The algorithm can be used to generate two-level k-circulant supersaturated designs also and some large optimal two-level supersaturated designs are presented. An upper bound to the number of factors in a balanced multi-level supersaturated design such that no two columns are fully aliased is also provided.  相似文献

Optimal k-circulant supersaturated designs have been constructed in literature using computer intensive methods. A systematic method of construction for multi-level experiments based on balanced incomplete block designs is presented in this paper. The method is also applicable to two-level experiments. Illustrative examples are also given.  相似文献

In this paper, we propose the application of group screening methods for analyzing data using E(fNOD)-optimal mixed-level supersaturated designs possessing the equal occurrence property. Supersaturated designs are a large class of factorial designs which can be used for screening out the important factors from a large set of potentially active variables. The huge advantage of these designs is that they reduce the experimental cost drastically, but their critical disadvantage is the high degree of confounding among factorial effects. Based on the idea of the group screening methods, the f factors are sub-divided into g “group-factors”. The “group-factors” are then studied using the penalized likelihood statistical analysis methods at a factorial design with orthogonal or near-orthogonal columns. All factors in groups found to have a large effect are then studied in a second stage of experiments. A comparison of the Type I and Type II error rates of various estimation methods via simulation experiments is performed. The results are presented in tables and discussion follows.  相似文献

A popular measure to assess 2-level supersaturated designs is the E(s2)E(s2) criterion. In this paper, improved lower bounds on E(s2)E(s2) are obtained. The same improvement has recently been established by Ryan and Bulutoglu [2007. E(s2)E(s2)-optimal supersaturated designs with good minimax properties. J. Statist. Plann. Inference 137, 2250–2262]. However, our analysis provides more details on precisely when an improvement is possible, which is lacking in Ryan and Bulutoglu [2007. E(s2)E(s2)-optimal supersaturated designs with good minimax properties. J. Statist. Plann. Inference 137, 2250–2262]. The equivalence of the bounds obtained by Butler et al. [2001. A general method of constructing E(s2)E(s2)-optimal supersaturated designs. J. Roy. Statist. Soc. B 63, 621–632] (in the cases where their result applies) and those obtained by Bulutoglu and Cheng [2004. Construction of E(s2)E(s2)-optimal supersaturated designs. Ann. Statist. 32, 1662–1678] is established. We also give two simple methods of constructing E(s2)E(s2)-optimal designs.  相似文献

In this paper, a new lower bound to A2-optimality measure is derived and is applied to multi-level and mixed-level column balanced designs. A2-optimal multi-level and mixed-level designs are obtained by the application of the new lower bound.  相似文献

The present paper analyzes the linear regression model with a nonzero intercept term on the vertices of a d-dimensional unit cube. This setting may be interpreted as a model of weighing d objects on a spring balance with a constant bias. We give analytic formulas for E-optimal designs, as well as their minimal efficiencies under the class of all orthogonally invariant optimality criteria, proving the criterion-robustness of the E-optimal designs. We also discuss the D- and A-optimal designs for this model.  相似文献

Inspired by the ideas of column and row juxtaposition in Liu and Lin (2009) and level transformation in Yamada and Lin (1999), this paper presents a new method for constructing optimal supersaturated designs (SSDs). This method provides a convenient way to construct mixed-level designs with relatively large numbers of levels, avoiding the blind search and numerous calculations by computers. The goodness of the resulting SSDs is judged by the χ2 (Yamada and Lin, 1999 and Yamada and Matsui, 2002) and J2 (Xu, 2002) criteria. Some nice properties of the new designs are also provided.  相似文献

We introduce a new class of supersaturated designs using Bayesian D-optimality. The designs generated using this approach can have arbitrary sample sizes, can have any number of blocks of any size, and can incorporate categorical factors with more than two levels. In side by side diagnostic comparisons based on the E(s2)E(s2) criterion for two-level experiments having even sample size, our designs either match or out-perform the best designs published to date. The generality of the method is illustrated with quality improvement experiment with 15 runs and 20 factors in 3 blocks.  相似文献

The q-Bernstein basis, used in the definition of the q-Bernstein polynomials, is shown to be the probability mass function of a q-binomial distribution. This distribution is defined on a sequence of zero–one Bernoulli trials with probability of failure at any trial increasing geometrically with the number of previous failures. A modification of this model, with the probability of failure at any trial decreasing geometrically with the number of previous failures, leads to a second q-binomial distribution that is also connected to the q-Bernstein polynomials. The q-factorial moments as well as the usual factorial moments of these distributions are derived. Further, the q-Bernstein polynomial Bn(f(t),q;x) is expressed as the expected value of the function f([Xn]q/[n]q) of the random variable Xn obeying the q-binomial distribution. Also, using the expression of the q-moments of Xn, an explicit expression of the q-Bernstein polynomial Bn(fr(t),q;x), for fr(t) a polynomial, is obtained.  相似文献

Sufficient conditions are derived for the determination of E-optimal designs in the class D(v,b1,b2,k1,k2) of incomplete block designs for v treatments in b1 blocks of size k1 each and b2 blocks of size k2 each. Some constructions for E-optimal designs that satisfy the sufficient conditions obtained here are given. In particular, it is shown that E-optimal designs in D(v,b1,b2,k1,k2) can be constructed by augmenting b2 blocks, with k2k1 extra plots each, of a BIBD(v,b = b1 + b2,k1,λ) and GDD(v,b = b1 + b2,k1,λ1,λ2). It is also shown that equireplicate E-optimal designs in D(v,b1,b2,k1,k2) can be constructed by combining disjoint blocks of BIBD(v,b,k1,λ) and GDD(v,b,k1,λ1,λ2) into larger blocks. As applications of the construction techniques, several infinite series of E-optimal designs with small block sizes differing by at most two are given. Lower bounds for the A-efficiency are derived and it is found that A-efficiency exceeds 99% for v ⩾ 10, and at least 97.5% for 5 ⩽v < 10.  相似文献

In this paper we propose a new criterion, minimum aberration majorization, for comparing non-isomorphic saturated designs. This criterion is based on the generalized word-length pattern proposed by Ma and Fang (Metrika 53 (2001) 85) and Xu and Wu (Ann. Statist. 29 (2001) 1066) and majorization theory. The criterion has been successfully applied to check non-isomorphism and rank order saturated designs. Examples are given through five non-isomorphic L16(215) designs and two L27(313) designs.  相似文献

Two methods to select columns for assigning factors to work on supersaturated designs are proposed. The focus of interest is the degree of non-orthogonality between the selected columns. One method is the exhaustive enumeration of selections of p columns from all k columns to find the exact optimality, while the other is intended to find an approximate solution by applying techniques used in the corresponding analysis, aiming for ease of use as well as a reduction in the large computing time required for large k with the first method. Numerical illustrations for several typical design matrices reveal that the resulting “approximately” optimal assignments of factors to their columns are exactly optimal for any p. Ordering the columns in E(s2)-optimal designs results in promising new findings including a large number of E(s2)-optimal designs.  相似文献

The paper studies the three-parameter generalization of the logarithmic distribution that is obtained as the cluster distribution for the generalized Euler distribution. The diagnostic statistic, R(x)=xpx/[(x-1)px-1]R(x)=xpx/[(x-1)px-1], is constant for the logarithmic distribution. For the new distribution it can decrease, stay constant, or increase as x increases. The relative values of the extra parameters determine the flatness/hollowness of the distribution and its tail behaviour. Kemp's q-logarithmic distribution and the Euler cluster distribution are special cases. Fitted data sets illustrate the properties of the distribution and its limiting forms.  相似文献

Let X1,X2, … be iid random variables with the pdf f(x,θ)=exp(θx?b(θ)) relative to a σ-finite measure μ, and consider the problem of deciding among three simple hypotheses Hi:θ=θi (1?i?3) subject to P(acceptHi|θi)=1?α (1?i?3). A procedure similar to Sobel–Wald procedure is discussed and its asymptotic efficiency as compared with the best nonsequential test is obtained by finding the limit lima→0(EiN(a)/n(a)), where N (a) is the stopping time of the proposed procedure and n(a) is the sample size of the best non-sequential test. It is shown that the same asymptotic limit holds for the original Sobel–Wald procedure. Specializing to N(θ,1) distribution it is found that lima→0(EiN(α)/n(α))=14 (i=1,2) and lima→0 (E3N(α)n(α))=δ21/4δ, where δi=(θi+1?θi) with 0<δ1?δ2. Also, the asymptotic efficiency evaluated when the X's have an exponential distribution.  相似文献

A new class of row-column designs is proposed. These designs are saturated in terms of eliminating two-way heterogeneity with an additive model. The proposed designs are treatment-connected, i.e., all paired comparisons of treatments in the designs are estimable in spite of the existence of row and column effects. The connectedness of the designs is justified from two perspectives: linear model and contrast estimability. Comparisons with other designs are studied in terms of A-, D-, E-efficiencies as well as design balance.  相似文献
