ABSTRACT

Suppose F and G are two life distribution functions. It is said that F is more IFRA (increasing failure rate average) than G (written by F ? *G) if G? 1F(x) is star-shaped on (0, ∞). In this paper, the problem of testing H0: F = *G against H1: F ? *G and F*G is considered in both cases when G is known and when G is unknown. We propose a new test based on U-statistics and obtain the asymptotic distribution of the test statistics. The new test is compared with some well-known tests in the literature. In addition, we apply our test to a real data set in the context of reliability.  相似文献

This article considers the properties of a nonparametric estimator developed for a reliability function which is used in many reliability problems. Properties such as asymptotic unbiasedness and consistency are proven for the estimator and using U-statistics, weak convergence of the estimator to a normal distribution is shown. Finally, numerical examples based on an extensive simulation study are presented to illustrate the theory and compare the estimator developed in this article with another based directly on the ratio of two empirical distributions studied in Zardasht and Asadi (2010 Zardasht , V. , Asadi , M. On Testing Equality of Distributions of Technical Efficiency Scores   总被引:5,自引:0,他引:5  
The challenge of the econometric problem in production efficiency analysis is that the efficiency scores to be analyzed are unobserved. Statistical properties have recently been discovered for a type of estimator popular in the literature, known as data envelopment analysis (DEA). This opens up a wide range of possibilities for well-grounded statistical inference about the true efficiency scores from their DEA estimates. In this paper we investigate the possibility of using existing tests for the equality of two distributions in such a context. Considering the statistical complications pertinent to our context, we consider several approaches to adapting the Li test to the context and explore their performance in terms of the size and power of the test in various Monte Carlo experiments. One of these approaches shows good performance for both the size and the power of the test, thus encouraging its use in empirical studies. We also present an empirical illustration analyzing the efficiency distributions of countries in the world, following up a recent study by Kumar and Russell (2002), and report very interesting results.  相似文献

Weak and strong consistency of gn(x) and rates of convergence are obtained. Asymptoticnormality of the estimator is established. Geometric Anisotropic Spatial Point Pattern Analysis and Cox Processes   总被引:1,自引:0,他引:1  
We consider spatial point processes with a pair correlation function, which depends only on the lag vector between a pair of points. Our interest is in statistical models with a special kind of ‘structured’ anisotropy: the pair correlation function is geometric anisotropic if it is elliptical but not spherical. In particular, we study Cox process models with an elliptical pair correlation function, including shot noise Cox processes and log Gaussian Cox processes, and we develop estimation procedures using summary statistics and Bayesian methods. Our methodology is illustrated on real and synthetic datasets of spatial point patterns.  相似文献

In this paper we propose a smooth nonparametric estimation for the conditional probability density function based on a Bernstein polynomial representation. Our estimator can be written as a finite mixture of beta densities with data-driven weights. Using the Bernstein estimator of the conditional density function, we derive new estimators for the distribution function and conditional mean. We establish the asymptotic properties of the proposed estimators, by proving their asymptotic normality and by providing their asymptotic bias and variance. Simulation results suggest that the proposed estimators can outperform the Nadaraya–Watson estimator and, in some specific setups, the local linear kernel estimators. Finally, we use our estimators for modeling the income in Italy, conditional on year from 1951 to 1998, and have another look at the well known Old Faithful Geyser data.  相似文献
