The paper considers the goodness of fit tests with right censored data or doubly censored data. The Fredholm Integral Equation (FIE) method proposed by Ren (1993) is implemented in the simulation studies to estimate the null distribution of the Cramér-von Mises test statistics and the asymptotic covariance function of the self-consistent estimator for the lifetime distribution with right censored data or doubly censored data. We show that for fixed alternatives, the bootstrap method does not estimate the null distribution consistently for doubly censored data. For the right censored case, a comparison between the performance of FIE and the η out of η bootstrap shows that FIE gives better estimation for the null distribution. The application of FIE to a set of right censored Channing House data and to a set of doubly censored breast cancer data is presented.  相似文献

Clustered interval‐censored survival data are often encountered in clinical and epidemiological studies due to geographic exposures and periodic visits of patients. When a nonnegligible cured proportion exists in the population, several authors in recent years have proposed to use mixture cure models incorporating random effects or frailties to analyze such complex data. However, the implementation of the mixture cure modeling approaches may be cumbersome. Interest then lies in determining whether or not it is necessary to adjust the cured proportion prior to the mixture cure analysis. This paper mainly focuses on the development of a score for testing the presence of cured subjects in clustered and interval‐censored survival data. Through simulation, we evaluate the sampling distribution and power behaviour of the score test. A bootstrap approach is further developed, leading to more accurate significance levels and greater power in small sample situations. We illustrate applications of the test using data sets from a smoking cessation study and a retrospective study of early breast cancer patients.  相似文献

In biomedical studies, correlated failure time data arise often. Although point and confidence interval estimation for quantiles with independent censored failure time data have been extensively studied, estimation for quantiles with correlated failure time data has not been developed. In this article, we propose a nonparametric estimation method for quantiles with correlated failure time data. We derive the asymptotic properties of the quantile estimator and propose confidence interval estimators based on the bootstrap and kernel smoothing methods. Simulation studies are carried out to investigate the finite sample properties of the proposed estimators. Finally, we illustrate the proposed method with a data set from a study of patients with otitis media.  相似文献

In medical research, it is common to have doubly censored survival data: origin time and event time are both subject to censoring. In this paper, we review simple and probability-based methods that are used to impute interval censored origin time and compare the performance of these methods through extensive simulations in the one-sample problem, two-sample problem and Cox regression model problem. The use of a bootstrap procedure for inference is demonstrated.  相似文献

The currently existing estimation methods and goodness-of-fit tests for the Cox model mainly deal with right censored data, but they do not have direct extension to other complicated types of censored data, such as doubly censored data, interval censored data, partly interval-censored data, bivariate right censored data, etc. In this article, we apply the empirical likelihood approach to the Cox model with complete sample, derive the semiparametric maximum likelihood estimators (SPMLE) for the Cox regression parameter and the baseline distribution function, and establish the asymptotic consistency of the SPMLE. Via the functional plug-in method, these results are extended in a unified approach to doubly censored data, partly interval-censored data, and bivariate data under univariate or bivariate right censoring. For these types of censored data mentioned, the estimation procedures developed here naturally lead to Kolmogorov-Smirnov goodness-of-fit tests for the Cox model. Peto and Peto (1972) have studied rank invariant tests to compare two survival curves for right censored data. We apply their tests, including the logrank test and the generalized Wilcoxon test, to left truncated and interval censored data. The significance levels of the tests are approximated by Monte Carlo permutation tests. Simulation studies are conducted to show their size and power under different distributional differences. In particular, the logrank test works well under the Cox proportional hazards alternatives, as for the usual right censored data. The methods are illustrated by the analysis of the Massachusetts Health Care Panel Study dataset.  相似文献

The article focuses mainly on a conditional imputation algorithm of quantile-filling to analyze a new kind of censored data, mixed interval-censored and complete data related to interval-censored sample. With the algorithm, the imputed failure times, which are the conditional quantiles, are obtained within the censoring intervals in which some exact failure times are. The algorithm is viable and feasible for the parameter estimation with general distributions, for instance, a case of Weibull distribution that has a moment estimation of closed form by log-transformation. Furthermore, interval-censored sample is a special case of the new censored sample, and the conditional imputation algorithm can also be used to deal with the failure data of interval censored. By comparing the interval-censored data and the new censored data, using the imputation algorithm, in the view of the bias of estimation, we find that the performance of new censored data is better than that of interval censored.  相似文献

In this article, we propose several goodness-of-fit methods for location–scale families of distributions under progressively Type-II censored data. The new tests are based on order statistics and sample spacings. We assess the performance of the proposed tests for the normal and Gumbel models against several alternatives by means of Monte Carlo simulations. It has been observed that the proposed tests are quite powerful in comparison with an existing goodness-of-fit test proposed for progressively Type-II censored data by Balakrishnan et al. [Goodness-of-fit tests based on spacings for progressively Type-II censored data from a general location–scale distribution, IEEE Trans. Reliab. 53 (2004), pp. 349–356]. Finally, we illustrate the proposed goodness-of-fit tests using two real data from reliability literature.  相似文献

A criterion for choosing an estimator in a family of semi-parametric estimators from incomplete data is proposed. This criterion is the expected observed log-likelihood (ELL). Adapted versions of this criterion in case of censored data and in presence of explanatory variables are exhibited. We show that likelihood cross-validation (LCV) is an estimator of ELL and we exhibit three bootstrap estimators. A simulation study considering both families of kernel and penalized likelihood estimators of the hazard function (indexed on a smoothing parameter) demonstrates good results of LCV and a bootstrap estimator called ELLbboot . We apply the ELLbboot criterion to compare the kernel and penalized likelihood estimators to estimate the risk of developing dementia for women using data from a large cohort study.  相似文献

Four distribution-free tests are developed for use in matched pair experiments when data may be censored: a bootstrap based on estimates of the median difference, and three rerandomization tests. The latter include a globally almost most powerful (GAMP) test which uses the original data and two modified Gilbert-Gehan tests which use the ranks. Computation time is reduced by using a binary count to generate subsamples and by restricting subsampling to the uncensored pairs. In Monte Carlo simulations against normal alternatives, mixed normal alternatives, and exponential alternatives, the GAMP test is most powerful with light censoring, the rank test is most powerful with heavy censoring. The bootstrap degenerates to the sign test and is least powerful.  相似文献

Accelerated life testing is widely used in product life testing experiments since it provides significant reduction in time and cost of testing. In this paper, assuming that the lifetime of items under use condition follow the two-parameter Pareto distribution of the second kind, partially accelerated life tests based on progressively Type-II censored samples are considered. The likelihood equations of the model parameters and the acceleration factor are reduced to a single nonlinear equation to be solved numerically to obtain the maximum-likelihood estimates (MLEs). Based on normal approximation to the asymptotic distribution of MLEs, the approximate confidence intervals (ACIs) for the parameters are derived. Two bootstrap CIs are also proposed. The classical Bayes estimates cannot be obtained in explicit form, so we propose to apply Markov chain Monte Carlo method to tackle this problem, which allows us to construct the credible interval of the involved parameters. Analysis of a simulated data set has also been presented for illustrative purposes. Finally, a Monte Carlo simulation study is carried out to investigate the precision of the Bayes estimates with MLEs and to compare the performance of different corresponding CIs considered.  相似文献

Stute (1993, Consistent estimation under random censorship when covariables are present. Journal of Multivariate Analysis 45, 89–103) proposed a new method to estimate regression models with a censored response variable using least squares and showed the consistency and asymptotic normality for his estimator. This article proposes a new bootstrap-based methodology that improves the performance of the asymptotic interval estimation for the small sample size case. Therefore, we compare the behavior of Stute's asymptotic confidence interval with that of several confidence intervals that are based on resampling bootstrap techniques. In order to build these confidence intervals, we propose a new bootstrap resampling method that has been adapted for the case of censored regression models. We use simulations to study the improvement the performance of the proposed bootstrap-based confidence intervals show when compared to the asymptotic proposal. Simulation results indicate that, for the new proposals, coverage percentages are closer to the nominal values and, in addition, intervals are narrower.  相似文献

We propose a new procedure for combining multiple tests in samples of right-censored observations. The new method is based on multiple constrained censored empirical likelihood where the constraints are formulated as linear functionals of the cumulative hazard functions. We prove a version of Wilks’ theorem for the multiple constrained censored empirical likelihood ratio, which provides a simple reference distribution for the test statistic of our proposed method. A useful application of the proposed method is, for example, examining the survival experience of different populations by combining different weighted log-rank tests. Real data examples are given using the log-rank and Gehan-Wilcoxon tests. In a simulation study of two sample survival data, we compare the proposed method of combining tests to previously developed procedures. The results demonstrate that, in addition to its computational simplicity, the combined test performs comparably to, and in some situations more reliably than previously developed procedures. Some simple point estimators are proposed for the three-parameter Weibull distribution. Both complete and type II censored sampling are considered. The biases and variances of these estimators are studied by Monte Carlo simulation.

Percentage points for the estimator of the shape parameter are also obtained by Monte Carlo simulation, which enables interval estimation and tests of hypotheses to be carried out for the shape parameter.  相似文献

Several types of asymptotic confidence bands have been proposed in the literature when the data are randomly censored on the right. Introducing new classes of bands, we place the old bands and their relationship to one another within a comprehensive theory of bands. A thorough analysis yields narrower bands and two kinds of modifications which are asymptotically distribution- and censor-free. One of these is useful when the interval on which the bands are constructed is predetermined and the width of the bands is random; the other, when there is a predetermined bound on the width and the interval is random. We illustrate our bands on the Szeged pacemaker data. These methods also provide a general modification of the Kolmogorov band in the uncensored case.  相似文献

Kundu and Gupta [Analysis of hybrid life-tests in presence of competing risks. Metrica. 2007;65:159–170] provided the analysis of Type-I hybrid censored competing risks data, when the lifetime distributions of the competing cause of failures follows exponential distribution. In this paper, we consider the analysis of Type-II hybrid censored competing risks data. It is assumed that latent lifetime distributions of the competing causes of failures follow independent exponential distributions with different scale parameters. It is observed that the maximum likelihood estimators of the unknown parameters do not always exist. We propose the modified estimators of the scale parameters, which coincide with the corresponding maximum likelihood estimators when they exist, and asymptotically they are equivalent. We obtain the exact distribution of the proposed estimators. Using the exact distributions of the proposed estimators, associated confidence intervals are obtained. The asymptotic and bootstrap confidence intervals of the unknown parameters are also provided. Further, Bayesian inference of some unknown parametric functions under a very flexible Beta-Gamma prior is considered. Bayes estimators and associated credible intervals of the unknown parameters are obtained using the Monte Carlo method. Extensive Monte Carlo simulations are performed to see the effectiveness of the proposed estimators and one real data set has been analysed for the illustrative purposes. It is observed that the proposed model and the method work quite well for this data set.  相似文献

In this article, we consider some nonparametric goodness-of-fit tests for right censored samples, viz., the modified Kolmogorov, Cramer–von Mises–Smirnov, Anderson–Darling, and Nikulin–Rao–Robson χ2 tests. We also consider an approach based on a transformation of the original censored sample to a complete one and the subsequent application of classical goodness-of-fit tests to the pseudo-complete sample. We then compare these tests in terms of power in the case of Type II censored data along with the power of the Neyman–Pearson test, and draw some conclusions. In this article, the general test statistic introduced by Alizadeh Noughabi and Balakrishnan [Goodness of fit using a new estimate of Kullback-Leibler information based on Type II censored data. IEEE Trans Reliab. 2015;64:627–635.] is applied for testing goodness of fit of lifetime distributions based on Type II censored data. The test statistic is constructed based on an estimate of Kullback–Leibler (KL) information. We investigate the properties of the proposed test statistic such as the test statistic is nonnegative, just like KL information. We apply this test statistic to following distributions: Exponential, Weibull, Log-normal and Pareto. The critical values and Type I error of the proposed tests are obtained. It is shown that the proposed tests have an excellent Type I error and hence can be used confidently in practice. Then, by Monte Carlo simulations, the power values of the proposed tests are computed against several alternatives and compared with those of the existing tests. Finally, some real-world reliability data are used for illustrative purpose.  相似文献

Clinical trials involving multiple time‐to‐event outcomes are increasingly common. In this paper, permutation tests for testing for group differences in multivariate time‐to‐event data are proposed. Unlike other two‐sample tests for multivariate survival data, the proposed tests attain the nominal type I error rate. A simulation study shows that the proposed tests outperform their competitors when the degree of censored observations is sufficiently high. When the degree of censoring is low, it is seen that naive tests such as Hotelling's T2 outperform tests tailored to survival data. Computational and practical aspects of the proposed tests are discussed, and their use is illustrated by analyses of three publicly available datasets. Implementations of the proposed tests are available in an accompanying R package.  相似文献

Abstract.  Several testing procedures are proposed that can detect change-points in the error distribution of non-parametric regression models. Different settings are considered where the change-point either occurs at some time point or at some value of the covariate. Fixed as well as random covariates are considered. Weak convergence of the suggested difference of sequential empirical processes based on non-parametrically estimated residuals to a Gaussian process is proved under the null hypothesis of no change-point. In the case of testing for a change in the error distribution that occurs with increasing time in a model with random covariates the test statistic is asymptotically distribution free and the asymptotic quantiles can be used for the test. This special test statistic can also detect a change in the regression function. In all other cases the asymptotic distribution depends on unknown features of the data-generating process and a bootstrap procedure is proposed in these cases. The small sample performances of the proposed tests are investigated by means of a simulation study and the tests are applied to a data example.  相似文献
