For each λ > 0 and each n ≥ 1, let An be the interval [λnY, ∞), where γ > 1 is a constant. The number of times that Sn is in An is denoted by N. As λ tends to zero, the asymtotic behavior of N is studied. Specifically under suitable conditions, the expectation of N is shown to be (μλ?1)β + o(λ?β/2 where β = 1/(γ-1) and the variance of N is shown to be (μλ?1)β(βμ1)2σ2 + o(λ) where σ2 is the variance of Xn.  相似文献

Bahadur (1966) obtained the order of rn as n→ ∞ when βo is a one-dimensional location parameter representing the median, and Babu (1989) proved a similar result for the general regression parameter estimated by the LAD (least absolute deviations) method. The authors give easy‐to‐check sufficient conditions for the geometric ergodicity and the finiteness of the moments of a random process xt = ?(xt‐1,…, xt‐p) + ?tσ(xt‐1,…, xt‐q) in which ?: Rp → R, σ Rq → R and (?t) is a sequence of independent and identically distributed random variables. We consider the regression model yi = ?(xi ) + ε in which the function ? or its pth derivative ?(p) may have a discontinuity at some unknown point τ. By fitting local polynomials from the left and right, we test the null that ?(p) is continuous against the alternative that ?(p)(τ?) ≠ ?(p)(τ+). We obtain Darling-Erdös type limit theorems for the test statistics under the null hypothesis of no change, as well as their limits in probability under the alternative. Consistency and asymptotic normality of the maximum likelihood estimator of β in the loglinear model E(yi) = eα+βXi, where yi are independent Poisson observations, 1 iaan, are proved under conditions which are near necessary and sufficient. The asymptotic distribution of the deviance test for β=β0 is shown to be chi-squared with 1 degree of freedom under the same conditions, and a second order correction to the deviance is derived. The paper discusses D-optimal axial designs for the additive quadratic and cubic mixture models σ1≤i≤qixi + βiix2i) and σ1≤i≤qixi + βiix2i + βiiix3i), where xi≥ 0, x1 + . . . + xq = 1. For the quadratic model, a saturated symmetric axial design is used, in which support points are of the form (x1, . . . , xq) = [1 ? (q?1)δi, δi, . . . , δi], where i = 1, 2 and 0 ≤δ2 <δ1 ≤ 1/(q ?1). It is proved that when 3 ≤q≤ 6, the above design is D-optimal if δ2 = 0 and δ1 = 1/(q?1), and when q≥ 7 it is D-optimal if δ2 = 0 and δ1 = [5q?1 ? (9q2?10q + 1)1/2]/(4q2). Similar results exist for the cubic model, with support points of the form (x1, . . . , xq) = [1 ? (q?1)δi, δi, . . . , δi], where i = 1, 2, 3 and 0 = δ3 <δ2 < δ1 ≤1/(q?1). The saturated D-optimal axial design and D-optimal design for the quadratic model are compared in terms of their efficiency and uniformity.  相似文献

In partly linear models, the dependence of the response y on (x T, t) is modeled through the relationship y=x T β+g(t)+?, where ? is independent of (x T, t). We are interested in developing an estimation procedure that allows us to combine the flexibility of the partly linear models, studied by several authors, but including some variables that belong to a non-Euclidean space. The motivating application of this paper deals with the explanation of the atmospheric SO2 pollution incidents using these models when some of the predictive variables belong in a cylinder. In this paper, the estimators of β and g are constructed when the explanatory variables t take values on a Riemannian manifold and the asymptotic properties of the proposed estimators are obtained under suitable conditions. We illustrate the use of this estimation approach using an environmental data set and we explore the performance of the estimators through a simulation study.  相似文献

Though the Pareto distribution is important to actuaries and economists, an exact expression for the distribution of the sum of n i.i.d. Pareto variates has been difficult to obtain in general. This article considers Pareto random variables with common probability density function (pdf) f(x) = (α/β) (1 + x/β)α+1 for x > 0, where α = 1,2,… and β > 0 is a scale parameter. To date, explicit expressions are known only for a few special cases: (i) α = 1 and n = 1,2,3; (ii) 0 < α < 1 and n = 1,2,…; and (iii) 1 < α < 2 and n = 1,2,…. New expressions are provided for the more general case where β > 0, and α and n are positive integers. Laplace transforms and generalized exponential integrals are used to derive these expressions, which involve integrals of real valued functions on the positive real line. An important attribute of these expressions is that the integrands involved are non oscillating.  相似文献

The results established here are developed in two directions. Next, for the case λ1 = ??? = λn = γ1 = ??? = γn = λ, we obtain some results concerning the reversed hazard rate and hazard rate orders between series and parallel systems based on the weak submajorization between the vectors of (p1, …, pn) and (q1, …, qn). The authors propose a new nonparametric diagnostic test for checking the constancy of the conditional variance function σ2(x) in the regression model Yi = m(xi) + σ(xi)?i, i = 1,…, m. Their test, which does not assume a known parametric form for the conditional mean function m(x), is inspired by a recent asymptotic theory in the analysis of variance when the number of factor levels is large. The random variable σni=nk+1xi, called the selection differential by geneticists, is of particular interest in genetic selection and related areas. In this paper we give results concerning a conjecture of Tong (1982) on the distribution of this random variable as a function of ρ.
