从数字看遂宁交通

区域性交通枢纽成雏形“十五”期间,遂宁市交通基础设施建设完成投资15.42亿元。全市路网密度由2000年42.5公里/百平方公里提高到46.7公里/百平方公里。公路路网通达深度进一步提高,乡道晴雨通车率75%。公路通乡率达到100%,通村率达到83.5%。实现了市内半小时经济圈的目标,与周边城市的时间距离缩短,区域性交通枢纽的地位正在形成。在公路养护方面,“十五”期间,该市投资3884.6万元完成了国、省、县道大中修工程260.3公里,投资655万元建成GBM工程366公里,投资507.5万元完成危(病)桥改造16座;加强以路面为中心的日常养护,保持了公路路况稳…     

The Hausdorff Space and Applied Statistics: A View from the U.S.S.R.

The article focuses on the debate in the pages of the Soviet statistical journal Vestnik Statistiki as to the existence and relevance of applied statistics as a separate scientific discipline. The contents of four letters to the editor and relevant editorial comments that appeared in this journal between October 1985 and July 1987 are analyzed.     

A Note on the Use of Some Functions of Spacings in the Estimation of Common Scale Parameter of Several Symmetric Distributions

In this article, we consider the problem of best linear unbiased estimation and best linear invariant estimation of the common scale parameter of several symmetric distributions using some functions of spacings of all observations taken from individual samples. We also proved a sufficient condition for the non negativity of the common scale estimator obtained by the above method. Furthermore, we obtained necessary and sufficient conditions for the derived estimators to be constant multiple of the sum of first and last spacings of the pooled sample.
