A Gaussian random function is a functional version of the normal distribution. This paper proposes a statistical hypothesis test to test whether or not a random function is a Gaussian random function. A parameter that is equal to 0 under Gaussian random function is considered, and its unbiased estimator is given. The asymptotic distribution of the estimator is studied, which is used for constructing a test statistic and discussing its asymptotic power. The performance of the proposed test is investigated through several numerical simulations. An illustrative example is also presented.  相似文献

In socioeconomic areas, functional observations may be collected with weights, called weighted functional data. In this paper, we deal with a general linear hypothesis testing (GLHT) problem in the framework of functional analysis of variance with weighted functional data. With weights taken into account, we obtain unbiased and consistent estimators of the group mean and covariance functions. For the GLHT problem, we obtain a pointwise F-test statistic and build two global tests, respectively, via integrating the pointwise F-test statistic or taking its supremum over an interval of interest. The asymptotic distributions of test statistics under the null and some local alternatives are derived. Methods for approximating their null distributions are discussed. An application of the proposed methods to density function data is also presented. Intensive simulation studies and two real data examples show that the proposed tests outperform the existing competitors substantially in terms of size control and power.  相似文献

Abstract

The main goal of this paper is to study the estimation of the conditional hazard function of a scalar response variable Y given a hilbertian random variable X in functional single-index model. We construct an estimator of this nonparametric function and we study its asymptotic properties, under quasi-associated structure. Precisely, we establish the asymptotic normality of the constructed estimator. We carried out simulation experiments to examine the behavior of this asymptotic property over finite sample data.  相似文献

Many estimators of the extreme value index of a distribution function F that are based on a certain number k n of largest order statistics can be represented as a statistical tail function al, that is a functional T applied to the empirical tail quantile function Q n. We study the asymptotic behaviour of such estimators with a scale and location invariant functional T under weak second order conditions on F . For that purpose first a new approximation of the empirical tail quantile function is established. As a consequence we obtain weak consistency and asymptotic normality of T ( Q n) if T is continuous and Hadamard differentiable, respectively, at the upper quantile function of a generalized Pareto distribution and k pn tends to infinity sufficiently slowly. Then we investigate the asymptotic variance and bias. In particular, those functionals T re characterized that lead to an estimator with minimal asymptotic variance. In this paper, we propose and study a new global test, namely, GPF test, for the one‐way anova problem for functional data, obtained via globalizing the usual pointwise F‐test. The asymptotic random expressions of the test statistic are derived, and its asymptotic power is investigated. The GPF test is shown to be root‐n consistent. It is much less computationally intensive than a parametric bootstrap test proposed in the literature for the one‐way anova for functional data. Via some simulation studies, it is found that in terms of size‐controlling and power, the GPF test is comparable with two existing tests adopted for the one‐way anova problem for functional data. A real data example illustrates the GPF test.  相似文献

We consider the testing problems of the structural parameters for the multivariate linear functional relationship model. We treat the likelihood ratio test statistics and the test statistics based on the asymptotic distributions of the maximum likelihood estimators. We derive their asymptotic distributions under each null hypothesis respectively. A simulation study is made to evaluate how we can trust our asymptotic results when the sample size is rather small.  相似文献

We consider the recursive estimation of a regression functional where the explanatory variables take values in some functional space. We prove the almost sure convergence of such estimates for dependent functional data. Also we derive the mean quadratic error of the considered class of estimators. Our results are established with rates and asymptotic appear bounds, under strong mixing condition. Finally, the feasibility of the proposed estimator is illustrated throughout an empirical study.  相似文献

Using the empirical characteristic function, we derive a Cramér-von Mises test for symmetry of the error distribution in a class of nonlinear parametric heteroscedastic models. We study the convergence of the residual-based empirical distribution function. We establish a functional limit theorem for an empirical process of residuals, and investigate the asymptotic null distribution function of our test statistic. A simulation experiment is conducted to evaluate small-sample performances of our test.  相似文献

In this article, we study a goodness-of-fit (GOF) test in the presence of length-biased sampling. For this purpose, we introduce a smoothed estimator of distribution function (d.f.) and we investigate its asymptotic behaviors, such as uniform consistency and asymptotic normality. Based on this estimator, we define a one-sample Kolmogorov type of GOF test for length-biased data. We conduct Monte Carlo simulations to evaluate the performance of the proposed test statistic and compare it with the one-sample Kolmogorov type of GOF test obtained by the non smoothed estimator of d.f.  相似文献

This paper proposes a working estimating equation which is computationally easy to use for spatial count data. The proposed estimating equation is a modification of quasi-likelihood estimating equations without the need of correctly specifying the covariance matrix. Under some regularity conditions, we show that the proposed estimator has consistency and asymptotic normality. A simulation comparison also indicates that the proposed method has competitive performance in dealing with over-dispersion data from a parameter-driven model.  相似文献

In this paper, we study the Gerber–Shiu (G-S) function for the classical risk model, in which the discount rate is generalized from a constant to a random variable. The discounted interest force accumulated process is modeled by a Poisson process and a Gaussian process for the G-S function. In terms of the standard techniques in ruin theory, we derive the integro-differential equation and the defective renewal equation satisfied by the G-S function. Then, the asymptotic formula for the G-S function is obtained using the renewal theory.  相似文献

We consider the problem of estimating the two parameters of the discrete Good distribution. We first show that the sufficient statistics for the parameters are the arithmetic and the geometric means. The maximum likelihood estimators (MLE's) of the parameters are obtained by solving numerically a system of equations involving the Lerch zeta function and the sufficient statistics. We find an expression for the asymptotic variance-covariance matrix of the MLE's, which can be evaluated numerically. We show that the probability mass function satisfies a simple recurrence equation linear in the two parameters, and propose the quadratic distance estimator (QDE) which can be computed with an ineratively reweighted least-squares algorithm. the QDE is easy to calculate and admits a simple expression for its asymptotic variance-covariance matrix. We compute this matrix for the MLE's and the QDE for various values of the parameters and see that the QDE has very high asymptotic efficiency. Finally, we present a numerical example.  相似文献

Abstract.  For a class of vector-valued non-Gaussian stationary processes, we develop the Cressie–Read power-divergence (CR) statistic approach which has been proposed for the i.i.d. case. The CR statistic includes empirical likelihood as a special case. Therefore, by adopting this CR statistic approach, the theory of estimation and testing based on empirical likelihood is greatly extended. We use an extended Whittle likelihood as score function and derive the asymptotic distribution of the CR statistic. We apply this result to estimation of autocorrelation and the AR coefficient, and get narrower confidence intervals than those obtained by existing methods. We also consider the power properties of the test based on asymptotic theory. Under a sequence of contiguous local alternatives, we derive the asymptotic distribution of the CR statistic. The problem of testing autocorrelation is discussed and we introduce some interesting properties of the local power.  相似文献

We have considered the functional linear model with scalar response and functional explanatory variable. One of the most popular methodologies for estimating the model parameter is based on functional principal components analysis (FPCA). In recent literature, weak convergence for a wide class of FPCA-type estimates has been proved, and consequently asymptotic confidence sets can be built. In this paper, we have proposed an alternative approach in order to obtain pointwise confidence intervals by means of a bootstrap procedure, for which we have obtained its asymptotic validity. Besides, a simulation study allows us to compare the practical behaviour of asymptotic and bootstrap confidence intervals in terms of coverage rates for different sample sizes.  相似文献

In this article, we propose a class of additive transformation models for recurrent event data, which includes the additive rates model as a special case. The new models offer great flexibility in formulating the effects of covariates on the mean function of recurrent events. Estimating equation approaches are developed for the model parameters, and asymptotic properties of the resulting estimators are established. In addition, a model checking procedure is presented to assess the adequacy of the model. The finite sample performance of the proposed estimators is examined through simulation studies, and an application to a bladder cancer study is presented.  相似文献

In this paper, we investigate the problem of testing for the equality of two distributions. We employ a two-sample Jackknife Empirical Likelihood (JEL) approach to construct a test statistic whose limiting distribution is Chi-square distribution with degree of freedom 1, no matter what the data dimension (fixed) is. A variety of synthetic data experiments demonstrate that our JEL test statistic performs very well, with a very neat asymptotic distribution under the null hypothesis. Furthermore, we apply the test procedure to a real dataset to obtain competitive results.  相似文献

Abstract. We propose a non‐parametric test for the equality of the covariance structures in two functional samples. The test statistic has a chi‐square asymptotic distribution with a known number of degrees of freedom, which depends on the level of dimension reduction needed to represent the data. Detailed analysis of the asymptotic properties is developed. Finite sample perfo‐rmance is examined by a simulation study and an application to egg‐laying curves of fruit flies.  相似文献

Our concern in this paper is a group sequential test design for which the sample sizes between interim analyses are not identical. First, we consider a repeated significance test for comparing two treatments in a clinical trial, and study asymptotic properties of the test statistic. Using the arguments developed by Siegmund (1985, Chapters 8 and 9), we then obtain approximations for the overall significance level of the test and for the error level at each interim analysis. Simulation studies are performed to assess the accuracy of the approximations and the robustness of the approximations are examined using numerical examples.  相似文献

The threshold diffusion model assumes a piecewise linear drift term and a piecewise smooth diffusion term, which constitutes a rich model for analyzing nonlinear continuous-time processes. We consider the problem of testing for threshold nonlinearity in the drift term. We do this by developing a quasi-likelihood test derived under the working assumption of a constant diffusion term, which circumvents the problem of generally unknown functional form for the diffusion term. The test is first developed for testing for one threshold at which the drift term breaks into two linear functions. We show that under some mild regularity conditions, the asymptotic null distribution of the proposed test statistic is given by the distribution of certain functional of some centered Gaussian process. We develop a computationally efficient method for calibrating the p-value of the test statistic by bootstrapping its asymptotic null distribution. The local power function is also derived, which establishes the consistency of the proposed test. The test is then extended to testing for multiple thresholds. We demonstrate the efficacy of the proposed test by simulations. Using the proposed test, we examine the evidence of nonlinearity in the term structure of a long time series of U.S. interest rates.  相似文献
