The LM test is modified to test any value of the ratio of two variance components in a mixed effects linear model with two variance components. The test is exact, so it can be used to construct exact confidence intervals on this ratio.Exact Neyman-Pearson (NP) tests on the variance ratio are described.Their powers provide attainable upper bounds on powers of tests on the variance ratio.Efficiencies of LM tests, which include ANOVA tests, and NP tests are compared for unbalanced, random, one-way ANOVA models.Confidence intervals corresponding to LM tests and NP tests are described.  相似文献

Summary.  The paper describes a method of estimating the performance of a multiple-screening test where those who test negatively do not have their true disease status determined. The methodology is motivated by a data set on 49927 subjects who were given K =6 binary tests for bowel cancer. A complicating factor is that individuals may have polyps in the bowel, a condition that the screening test is not designed to detect but which may be worth diagnosing. The methodology is based on a multinomial logit model for Pr( S | R 6), the probability distribution of patient status S (healthy, polyps or diseased) conditional on the results R 6 from six binary tests. An advantage of the methodology described is that the modelling is data driven. In particular, we require no assumptions about correlation within subjects, the relative sensitivity of the K tests or the conditional independence of the tests. The model leads to simple estimates of the trade-off between different errors as the number of tests is varied, presented graphically by using receiver operating characteristic curves. Finally, the model allows us to estimate better protocols for assigning subjects to the disease group, as well as the gains in accuracy from these protocols.  相似文献

This paper deals with hypothesis testing for independent time series with unequal length. It proposes a spectral test based on the distance between the periodogram ordinates and a parametric test based on the distance between the parameter estimates of fitted autoregressive moving average models. Both tests are compared with a likelihood ratio test based on the pooled spectra. In all cases, the null hypothesis is that the two series under consideration are generated by the same stochastic process. The performance of the three tests is investigated by a Monte Carlo simulation study.  相似文献

To test the extreme value condition, Cramér-Von Mises type tests were recently proposed by Drees et al. (2006) and Dietrich et al. (2002). Hüsler and Li (2006) presented a simulation study on the behavior of these tests and verified that they are not robust for models in the domain of attraction of a max-semistable distribution function. In this work we develop a test statistic that distinguishes quite well distribution functions which belong to a max-stable domain of attraction from those in a max-semistable one. The limit law is deduced and the results from a numerical simulation study are presented.  相似文献

This article shows the conditions under which endogeneity of a regressor variable does not affect threshold nonlinearity tests. Inference on the values of the parameters derived from standard statistics is also appropriate. Simulation techniques are used to approximate the p-value of the test. Monte Carlo simulations confirm the validity of Wald tests in the presence of endogeneity in the regressors.  相似文献

ABSTRACT

This paper analyses the behaviour of the goodness-of-fit tests for regression models. To this end, it uses statistics based on an estimation of the integrated regression function with missing observations either in the response variable or in some of the covariates. It proposes several versions of one empirical process, constructed from a previous estimation, that uses only the complete observations or replaces the missing observations with imputed values. In the case of missing covariates, a link model is used to fill the missing observations with other complete covariates. In all the situations, Bootstrap methodology is used to calibrate the distribution of the test statistics. A broad simulation study compares the different procedures based on empirical regression methodology, with smoothed tests previously studied in the literature. The comparison reflects the effect of the correlation between the covariates in the tests based on the imputed sample for missing covariates. In addition, the paper proposes a computational binning strategy to evaluate the tests based on an empirical process for large data sets. Finally, two applications to real data illustrate the performance of the tests.  相似文献

We discuss the impact of misspecifying fully parametric proportional hazards and accelerated life models. For the uncensored case, misspecified accelerated life models give asymptotically unbiased estimates of covariate effect, but the shape and scale parameters depend on the misspecification. The covariate, shape and scale parameters differ in the censored case. Parametric proportional hazards models do not have a sound justification for general use: estimates from misspecified models can be very biased, and misleading results for the shape of the hazard function can arise. Misspecified survival functions are more biased at the extremes than the centre. Asymptotic and first order results are compared. If a model is misspecified, the size of Wald tests will be underestimated. Use of the sandwich estimator of standard error gives tests of the correct size, but misspecification leads to a loss of power. Accelerated life models are more robust to misspecification because of their log-linear form. In preliminary data analysis, practitioners should investigate proportional hazards and accelerated life models; software is readily available for several such models.  相似文献

Standard serial correlation tests are derived assuming that the disturbances are homoscedastic, but this study shows that asympotic critical values are not accurate when this assumption is violated. Asymptotic critical values for the ARCH(2)-corrected LM, BP and BL tests are valid only when the underlying ARCH process is strictly stationary, whereas Wooldridge's robust LM test has good properties overall. These tests exhibit similar bahaviour even when the underlying process is GARCH (1,1). When the regressors include lagged dependent variables, the rejection frequencies under both the null and alternative hypotheses depend on the coefficientsof the lagged dependent variables and the other model parameters. They appear to be robust across various disturbance distributions under the null hypothesis.  相似文献

The paper is a review of nonlinear processes used in time series analysis and presents some new original results about stationary distribution of a nonlinear autoregres-sive process of the first order. The following models are considered: nonlinear autoregessive processes, threshold AR processes, threshold MA processes, bilinear models, auto-regressive models with random parameters including double stochastic models, exponential AR models, generalized threshold models and smooth transition autoregressive models, Some tests for linearity of processes are also presented.  相似文献

This paper discusses the tests for departures from nominal dispersion in the framework of generalized nonlinear models with varying dispersion and/or additive random effects. We consider two classes of exponential family distributions. The first is discrete exponential family distributions, such as Poisson, binomial, and negative binomial distributions. The second is continuous exponential family distributions, such as normal, gamma, and inverse Gaussian distributions. Correspondingly, we develop a unifying approach and propose several tests for testing for departures from nominal dispersion in two classes of generalized nonlinear models. The score test statistics are constructed and expressed in simple, easy to use, matrix formulas, so that the tests can easily be implemented using existing statistical software. The properties of test statistics are investigated through Monte Carlo simulations.  相似文献

Goodness-of-fit Tests for Mixed Models   总被引:2,自引:1,他引:1
Abstract.  Mixed linear models have become a very useful tool for modelling experiments with dependent observations within subjects, but to establish their appropriateness several assumptions have to be checked. In this paper, we focus on the normality assumptions, using goodness-of-fit tests that make allowance for possible design imbalance. These tests rely on asymptotic results, which are established via empirical process theory. The power of the tests is explored empirically, and examples illustrate some aspects of the usage of the tests.  相似文献

The use of general linear modeling (GLM) procedures based on log-rank scores is proposed for the analysis of survival data and compared to standard survival analysis procedures. For the comparison of two groups, this approach performed similarly to the traditional log-rank test. In the case of more complicated designs - without ties in the survival times - the approach was only marginally less powerful than tests from proportional hazards models, and clearly less powerful than a likelihood ratio test for a fully parametric model; however, with ties in the survival time, the approach proved more powerful than tests from Cox's semi-parametric proportional hazards procedure. The method appears to provide a reasonably powerful alternative for the analysis of survival data, is easily used in complicated study designs, avoids (semi-)parametric assumptions, and is quite computationally easy and inexpensive to employ.  相似文献

Two or more regression models are said to be non-nested if neither can be obtained from the remaining models when parametric restrictions are imposed. Tests for choosing between linear non-nested regression models are found in literature, such as J and MJ tests. In this paper we propose variants of these two tests for the GAMLSS (Generalized Additive Models for Location, Scale and Shape) class of models. We report Monte Carlo evidence on finite sample behaviour of the proposed tests. Bootstrap-based testing inference is also considered. Overall, bootstrap MJ test had the best performance. An empirical application is presented and discussed.  相似文献

We develop and show applications of two new test statistics for deciding if one ARIMA model provides significantly better h-step-ahead forecasts than another, as measured by the difference of approximations to their asymptotic mean square forecast errors. The two statistics differ in the variance estimates used for normalization. Both variance estimates are consistent even when the models considered are incorrect. Our main variance estimate is further distinguished by accounting for parameter estimation, while the simpler variance estimate treats parameters as fixed. Their broad consistency properties offer improvements to what are known as tests of Diebold and Mariano (1995) type, which are tests that treat parameters as fixed and use variance estimates that are generally not consistent in our context. We show how these statistics can be calculated for any pair of ARIMA models with the same differencing operator.  相似文献

We propose goodness-of-fit tests for testing generalized linear models and semiparametric regression models against smooth alternatives. The focus is on models having both continous and factorial covariates. As a smooth extension of a parametric or semiparametric model we use generalized varying-coefficient models as proposed by Hastie and Tibshirani. A likelihood ratio statistic is used for testing. Asymptotic expansions allow us to write the estimates as linear smoothers which in turn guarantees simple and fast bootstrapping of the test statistic. The test is shown to have √ n -power, but in contrast with parametric tests it is powerful against smooth alternatives in general.  相似文献

Using a spectral approach, the authors propose tests to detect multivariate ARCH effects in the residuals from a multivariate regression model. The tests are based on a comparison, via a quadratic norm, between the uniform density and a kernel‐based spectral density estimator of the squared residuals and cross products of residuals. The proposed tests are consistent under an arbitrary fixed alternative. The authors present a new application of the test due to Hosking (1980) which is seen to be a special case of their approach involving the truncated uniform kernel. However, they typically obtain more powerful procedures when using a different weighting. The authors consider especially the procedure of Robinson (1991) for choosing the smoothing parameter of the spectral density estimator. They also introduce a generalized version of the test for ARCH effects due to Ling & Li (1997). They investigate the finite‐sample performance of their tests and compare them to existing tests including those of Ling & Li (1997) and the residual‐based diagnostics of Tse (2002).Finally, they present a financial application.  相似文献

ABSTRACT

We consider independence tests and the methods to evaluate their efficiency. First, we observe that many of the most used independence tests are functions of the empirical copula, which is a sufficient statistic. Hence, the power of these tests, such as the tests based on Spearman's ρ, on Kendall's τ, and on Gini's γ, depend solely on the theoretical copula, and not on the marginal distributions. Then, we consider monotone dependence tests and we propose a parametric model to define the power function. Such a model is based on a path of copulas, from the copula of discordance to the copula of concordance, and can be characterized by the copula of the underlying joint distribution. Moreover, we introduce a consistent estimator of the path of copulas. Finally, we provide some examples of applications, and in particular, a bootstrap-plug-in estimator of the power curve, all useful for power comparison.  相似文献

Usually the variance of independent observations resulting from a linear or a nonlinear relationship is estimated by the Least-Squares residual estimator. In this paper its asymptotic properties are investigated. Further the asymptotic behaviour of tests for one-sided hypotheses on the variance is studied. The paper splits into two parts, the first one concerned with linear and the second one with nonlinear models.  相似文献

The paper invsetigation the size and power of analyticaland computer-based (bootstrap) 8nite=saniple adjustments to score tests in a class of regression models. Our results show that score tests can display substantial size distortions and that small-sample adjustments can be quite effective. Bootstrap corrections typically perform slightly better than analytical ones  相似文献
