新国家与旧工人:1952年上海私营工厂的民主改革运动

本文通过对上海市各级档案馆所藏档案文献的梳理,详细考察了在1952年上海私营工厂的民主改革运动中,新政权如何通过诉苦、交待、典型示范等动员技术,对旧工人进行思想和组织上的改造,从而为自上而下地重塑一支新的工人阶级队伍奠定基础。对旧工人的改造,不仅是社会主义工业化的需要,也构成了新国家对城市基层社会进行整合的一个方面。

The Old and the New Stability and Growth Pact along with the Main Proposals for Its Reform: An Assessment

In this paper I compare the old and new stability and growth pact along with the main proposals to reform it using the principal component analysis and cluster analysis. Two intuitive questions arise from the analysis. Does the new pact represent a worsening with respect to the old one? Could some reform proposals, timely adopted, have saved the old pact, i.e., could the original fiscal rules of the European Monetary Union have been maintained by reducing or correcting the pact's main flaws? I conclude that if my evaluation of the proposals is reliable, the answer regarding the comparison between the old and the new pact is somewhat complex, but, under a reasonable assumption, the new pact represents a backward step compared with the old one. Moreover, starting from 2001, when the first problems became evident, up to the adoption of the new pact in 2005, more than one hundred proposals have been formulated, and according to our results of a principal-component analysis, many of them were close to an ``ideal pact'', so we can suppose that the original fiscal rules of the European Monetary Union could have been saved by a timely reform.     

Experiences of Biological Parents and Their Older Children in Out-of-Home Care for the First Time

This article will examine the parenting characteristics and challenges that faced a cohort of families participating in an exploratory qualitative research study. This study sought to describe the experiences and characteristics of parents whose children were placed in the child welfare system in early-to-late adolescence (ages 12–18), thus gaining an understanding of the parenting challenges faced as they were able to maintain their children in their homes for a significant portion of their lives. The families of older youths entering care for the first time described how alcohol and drug abuse impacted their relationships with children, significant others, jobs, and their mental health status. A significant issue that emerged in several of the cases were older children who initiated a report to child welfare themselves.     

预处理共轭梯度法在大型供水管网平差计算中的应用

大型供水管网平差计算是进行水力模型校核、优化调度及现状分析的基础,供水系统的科学化管理对平差计算的速度提出了更高要求。文中建立了更为实用的解节点方程法的数学模型,模型中的系数矩阵具有对称正定的性质,因而采用预处理共轭梯度法求解该大型线性方程组,并分析了稀疏矩阵的压缩存储算法,最后结合算例进行验证。     

Helping Respondents Get It Right the First Time: The Influence of Words, Symbols, and Graphics in Web Surveys

We utilize and apply visual design theory to experimentallytest ways to improve the likelihood that web respondents reportdate answers in a particular format desired by the researcher,thus reducing possible deleterious effects of error messagesor requests for corrections. These experiments were embeddedin a series of web surveys of random samples of university students.We seek to examine the sequential and cumulative effects ofvisually manipulating the size and proximity of the answer spaces,the use of symbols instead of words, the verbal language ofthe question stem, and the graphical location of the symbolicinstruction. Our results show that the successive series ofvisual language manipulations improve respondents’ useof the desired format (two digits for the month and four digitsfor the year) from 45 percent to 96 percent. These results suggestthat writing effective questions for web surveys may dependas much or more on the presentation of the answer categories/spacesas the question wording itself.     

The First Hit: a case study of the physical abuse of people with learning disabilities and challenging behaviours in a residential service

This paper describes the circumstances surrounding the physical abuse of persons with learning disabilities and challenging behaviours in a residential service and the general findings of a related inquiry. Evidence is interpreted in relation to wider policy and practice intelligence on the abuse of people with learning disabilities, with lessons for the recognition, reporting and management of abuse identified. The discussion is designed to help those charged with responsibility for the support and protection of people with learning disabilities understand the complex circumstances and conditions which may be associated with an abusive service culture, with the culture of abuse itself examined at four levels. Suggestions for reviewing the development and implementation of adult protection policies and procedures are offered, along with priorities for action and implementation for purchasers and providers.
