It is essential to test the goodness of fit of the model before making inferences based on it. Multilevel modeling of ordinal categorical responses is not as developed as for continuous responses. Assessing model adequacy in terms of the goodness of fit with ordinal categorical responses is still being developed and no satisfactory tests are available so far. As a consequence of that, this study concentrates on developing such a goodness of fit test for Multilevel Proportional Odds models and to study the properties of the test.  相似文献

Analysis of two-phase regression has traditionally been carried out using a variety of likelihood approaches. In this paper we present an alternative procedure based on a goodness of fit criterion.

Exact hypothesis tests for a known switch point are developed. Approximate (conservative) tests for an unknown switch point are also obtained  相似文献

No satisfactory goodness of fit test is available for multilevel survival data which occur when survival data are clustered or hierarchical in nature. Hence the aim of this research is to develop a new goodness of fit test for multilevel survival data and to examine the properties of the newly developed test. Simulation studies were carried out to evaluate the type ? error and the power. The results showed that the type I error holds for every combination tested and that the test is powerful against the alternative hypothesis of nonproportional hazards for all combinations tested.  相似文献

McCullagh (1980) presented a comprehensive review of regression models for ordinal response variables. In these models, the functional relationship between the covariates and the response categories is dependent on the link function. This paper shows that discrimination between links is feasible when the response variable is ordinal. Using the log-gamma distribution of Prentice (1974), a generalized link function is constructed which allows discrimination between the probit, log-log, and complementary log-log links. Sample-size considerations are noted, and examples are presented.  相似文献

A gamma regression model with an exponential link function for the means Is considered. Moment properties of the deviance statistics based on maximum likelihood and weighted least squares fits are used to define modified deviance statistics which provide alternative global goodness of fit tests. The null distribution properties of the deviances and modified deviances are compared with those of the approximating chi-square distribution and It is shown that the use of the modified deviances gives much better control over the significance levels of the tests.  相似文献

In this paper, we introduce a general goodness of fit test based on Phi-divergence. Consistency of the proposed test is established. We then study some special cases of tests for normal, exponential, uniform and Laplace distributions. Through Monte Carlo simulations, the power values of the proposed tests are compared with some known competing tests under various alternatives. Finally, some numerical examples are presented to illustrate the proposed procedure.  相似文献

This paper presents a goodness‐of‐fit test for parametric regression models with scalar response and directional predictor, that is, a vector on a sphere of arbitrary dimension. The testing procedure is based on the weighted squared distance between a smooth and a parametric regression estimator, where the smooth regression estimator is obtained by a projected local approach. Asymptotic behaviour of the test statistic under the null hypothesis and local alternatives is provided, jointly with a consistent bootstrap algorithm for application in practice. A simulation study illustrates the performance of the test in finite samples. The procedure is applied to test a linear model in text mining.  相似文献

This R package implements three types of goodness-of-fit tests for some widely used probability distributions where there are unknown parameters, namely tests based on data transformations, on the ratio of two estimators of a dispersion parameter, and correlation tests. Most of the considered tests have been proved to be powerful against a wide range of alternatives and some new ones are proposed here. The package's functionality is illustrated with several examples by using some data sets from the areas of environmental studies, biology and finance, among others.  相似文献

The proportional hazards regression model of Cox(1972) is widely used in analyzing survival data. We examine several goodness of fit tests for checking the proportionality of hazards in the Cox model with two-sample censored data, and compare the performance of these tests by a simulation study. The strengths and weaknesses of the tests are pointed out. The effects of the extent of random censoring on the size and power are also examined. Results of a simulation study demonstrate that Gill and Schumacher's test is most powerful against a broad range of monotone departures from the proportional hazards assumption, but it may not perform as well fail for alternatives of nonmonotone hazard ratio. For the latter kind of alternatives, Andersen's test may detect patterns of irregular changes in hazards.  相似文献

The authors show how to test the goodness‐of‐fit of a linear regression model when there are missing data in the response variable. Their statistics are based on the L2 distance between nonparametric estimators of the regression function and a ‐consistent estimator of the same function under the parametric model. They obtain the limit distribution of the statistics and check the validity of their bootstrap version. Finally, a simulation study allows them to examine the behaviour of their tests, whether the samples are complete or not.  相似文献

A test for lack of fit in regression is presented. Unlike other methods, this one doesn't require replicates or a prior estimate of variance. It can be used for linear or multiple regression, and would be easy to add to existing computer packages. It is based on comparing a fit over low leverage points with a fit over the entire set of data. Distribution theory results are pre¬sented, with examples of power. A discussion of its use for de¬tecting violations of other regression assumptions is also given.  相似文献

Assessment of the adequacy of a proposed linear regression model is necessarily subjective. However, the following three criteria may warrant investigation whether the distributional assumptions for the stochastic portion of the model are satisfied, whether the predictive capability of the model is satisfactory, and whether the deterministic portion of the model is adejuate in a statistical sense. The first two criteria have been reviewed in the literature to some extent. This paper reviews statistical tests and procedures which aid the experimenter in deterrmining lack of fit or functional misspecification associated with the deterministic portion of a proposed linear regression model.  相似文献

Abstract

The regression model with ordinal outcome has been widely used in a lot of fields because of its significant effect. Moreover, predictors measured with error and multicollinearity are long-standing problems and often occur in regression analysis. However there are not many studies on dealing with measurement error models with generally ordinal response, even fewer when they suffer from multicollinearity. The purpose of this article is to estimate parameters of ordinal probit models with measurement error and multicollinearity. First, we propose to use regression calibration and refined regression calibration to estimate parameters in ordinal probit models with measurement error. Second, we develop new methods to obtain estimators of parameters in the presence of multicollinearity and measurement error in ordinal probit model. Furthermore we also extend all the methods to quadratic ordinal probit models and talk about the situation in ordinal logistic models. These estimators are consistent and asymptotically normally distributed under general conditions. They are easy to compute, perform well and are robust against the normality assumption for the predictor variables in our simulation studies. The proposed methods are applied to some real datasets.  相似文献

ABSTRACT

In this paper, a pivot function which is in terms of the sample and the underlying population distribution is introduced. It is assumed that the population distribution is continuous and strictly increasing on its support. Then, the martingale central limit theorem is applied to prove that limiting distribution of the pivot function is the standard normal. Interestingly, this result provides a unified procedure that can be applied for the goodness of fit, and for the purpose of parametric and nonparametric inferences, for the populations having distribution functions that are continuous and strictly increasing on their supports. The method is fairly simple and can be easily applied.  相似文献

The classical chi‐square test of goodness of fit compares the hypothesis that data arise from some parametric family of distributions, against the nonparametric alternative that they arise from some other distribution. However, the chi‐square test requires continuous data to be grouped into arbitrary categories. Furthermore, as the test is based upon an approximation, it can only be used if there are sufficient data. In practice, these requirements are often wasteful of information and overly restrictive. The authors explore the use of the fractional Bayes factor to obtain a Bayesian alternative to the chi‐square test when no specific prior information is available. They consider the extent to which their methodology can handle small data sets and continuous data without arbitrary grouping.  相似文献

The authors discuss a general class of hierarchical ordinal regression models that includes both location and scale parameters, allows link functions to be selected adaptively as finite mixtures of normal cumulative distribution functions, and incorporates flexible correlation structures for the latent scale variables. Exploiting the well‐known correspondence between ordinal regression models and parametric ROC (Receiver Operating Characteristic) curves makes it possible to use a hierarchical ROC (HROC) analysis to study multilevel clustered data in diagnostic imaging studies. The authors present a Bayesian approach to model fitting using Markov chain Monte Carlo methods and discuss HROC applications to the analysis of data from two diagnostic radiology studies involving multiple interpreters.  相似文献

In this paper the problem of assessing the similarity of two cumulative distribution functions F and G is considered. An asymptotic test based on an α-trimmed version of Mallows distance Γα( F , G ) between F and G is suggested, thus demonstrating the similarity of F and G within a preassigned Γα( F , G ) neighbourhood at a controlled type I error rate. The test proposed is applied to the validation of goodness of fit and for the nonparametric assessment of bioequivalence. It is shown that Γα( F , G ) can be interpreted as average and population equivalence. Our approach is illustrated by various examples.  相似文献

Estimating the risk factors of a disease such as diabetic retinopathy (DR) is one of the important research problems among bio-medical and statistical practitioners as well as epidemiologists. Incidentally many studies have focused in building models with binary outcomes, that may not exploit the available information. This article has investigated the importance of retaining the ordinal nature of the response variable (e.g. severity level of a disease) while determining the risk factors associated with DR. A generalized linear model approach with appropriate link functions has been studied using both Classical and Bayesian frameworks. From the result of this study, it can be observed that the ordinal logistic regression with probit link function could be more appropriate approach in determining the risk factors of DR. The study has emphasized the ways to handle the ordinal nature of the response variable with better model fit compared to other link functions.  相似文献
