Two sufficient conditions for comparing convolutions of heterogeneous gamma random variables in terms of star order are established. It is further shown that if the scale parameters of heterogeneous gamma random variables are more dispersed in the sense of majorization, then the convolutions are more dispersed according to the right spread order, which generalizes and strengthens the results in Diaconis and Perlman (1987), Kochar and Xu (2010) and Zhao and Balakrishnan (2009).  相似文献

In this paper, we investigate ordering properties of lifetimes of parallel systems with two independent heterogeneous exponential components in terms of the mean residual life order. We establish, among others, that the reciprocal majorization order between parameter vectors implies the mean residual life order between the lifetimes of two parallel systems. This article investigates some properties of the mean residual life function of (nk+1)-out-of-n systems, when the lifetimes of the system components are independent random variables but not necessarily identically distributed and when the joint distribution of the component lifetimes is exchangeable, extending the results of Asadi and Goliforushani (2008) [On the mean residual life function of coherent systems. IEEE Transactions on Reliability 57 (4) 574-580] for the case of independent and identically distributed components. We study two new omnibus goodness of fit tests for exponentiality, each based on a characterization of the exponential distribution via the mean residual life function. The limiting null distributions of the tests statistics are the same as the limiting null distributions of the Kolmogorov-Smirnov and Cramér-von Mises statistics proposed when testing the simple hypothesis that the distribution of the sample variables is uniform on the interval [0, 1].
