In this article, we compare three residuals based on the deviance component in generalised log-gamma regression models with censored observations. For different parameter settings, sample sizes and censoring percentages, various simulation studies are performed and the empirical distribution of each residual is displayed and compared with the standard normal distribution. For all cases studied, the empirical distributions of the proposed residuals are in general symmetric around zero, but only a martingale-type residual presented negligible kurtosis for the majority of the cases studied. These studies suggest that the residual analysis usually performed in normal linear regression models can be straightforwardly extended for the martingale-type residual in generalised log-gamma regression models with censored data. A lifetime data set is analysed under log-gamma regression models and a model checking based on the martingale-type residual is performed.  相似文献

We introduce the log-odd Weibull regression model based on the odd Weibull distribution (Cooray, 2006). We derive some mathematical properties of the log-transformed distribution. The new regression model represents a parametric family of models that includes as sub-models some widely known regression models that can be applied to censored survival data. We employ a frequentist analysis and a parametric bootstrap for the parameters of the proposed model. We derive the appropriate matrices for assessing local influence on the parameter estimates under different perturbation schemes and present some ways to assess global influence. Further, for different parameter settings, sample sizes and censoring percentages, some simulations are performed. In addition, the empirical distribution of some modified residuals are given and compared with the standard normal distribution. These studies suggest that the residual analysis usually performed in normal linear regression models can be extended to a modified deviance residual in the proposed regression model applied to censored data. We define martingale and deviance residuals to check the model assumptions. The extended regression model is very useful for the analysis of real data.  相似文献

In applications of survival analysis, the failure rate function may frequently present a unimodal shape. In such cases, the log-normal and log-logistic distributions are used. In this paper, we shall be concerned only with parametric forms, so a location-scale regression model based on the odd log-logistic Weibull distribution is proposed for modelling data with a decreasing, increasing, unimodal and bathtub failure rate function as an alternative to the log-Weibull regression model. For censored data, we consider a classic method to estimate the parameters of the proposed model. We derive the appropriate matrices for assessing local influences on the parameter estimates under different perturbation schemes and present some ways to assess global influences. Further, for different parameter settings, sample sizes and censoring percentages, various simulations are performed. In addition, the empirical distribution of some modified residuals is determined and compared with the standard normal distribution. These studies suggest that the residual analysis usually performed in normal linear regression models can be extended to a modified deviance residual in the new regression model applied to censored data. We analyse a real data set using the log-odd log-logistic Weibull regression model.  相似文献

The failure rate function commonly has a bathtub shape in practice. In this paper we discuss a regression model considering new Weibull extended distribution developed by Xie et al. (2002) that can be used to model this type of failure rate function. Assuming censored data, we discuss parameter estimation: maximum likelihood method and a Bayesian approach where Gibbs algorithms along with Metropolis steps are used to obtain the posterior summaries of interest. We derive the appropriate matrices for assessing the local influence on the parameter estimates under different perturbation schemes, and we also present some ways to perform global influence. Also, some discussions on case deletion influence diagnostics are developed for the joint posterior distribution based on the Kullback–Leibler divergence. Besides, for different parameter settings, sample sizes and censoring percentages, are performed various simulations and display and compare the empirical distribution of the Martingale-type residual with the standard normal distribution. These studies suggest that the residual analysis usually performed in normal linear regression models can be straightforwardly extended to the martingale-type residual in log-Weibull extended models with censored data. Finally, we analyze a real data set under a log-Weibull extended regression model. We perform diagnostic analysis and model check based on the martingale-type residual to select an appropriate model.  相似文献

We introduce a new class of heteroscedastic log-exponentiated Weibull (LEW) regression models. The class of regression models can be applied to censored data and be used more effectively in survival analysis. Maximum likelihood estimation of the model parameters with censored data as well as influence diagnostics for the new regression model is investigated. For different parameter settings, sample sizes and censoring percentages, various simulation studies are performed and compared to the performance of the heteroscedastic LEW regression model. The normal curvatures for studying local influence are derived under various perturbation schemes. An empirical application to a real data set is provided to illustrate the usefulness of the new class of heteroscedastic regression models.  相似文献

In survival analysis applications, the presence of failure rate functions with non monotone shapes is common. Therefore, models that can accommodate such different shapes are needed. In this article, we present a location regression model based on the complementary exponentiated exponential geometric distribution as an alternative to the usual bathtub, increasing, and decreasing failure rates in lifetime data. Assuming censored data, we consider the maximum likelihood inference for analysis, graphical verification for residuals, and test statistics for influential points.  相似文献

Beta regression is often used to model the relationship between a dependent variable that assumes values on the open interval (0, 1) and a set of predictor variables. An important challenge in beta regression is to find residuals whose distribution is well approximated by the standard normal distribution. Two previous works compared residuals in beta regression, but the authors did not include the quantile residual. Using Monte Carlo simulation techniques, this article studies the behavior of certain residuals in beta regression in several scenarios. Overall, the results suggest that the distribution of the quantile residual is better approximated by the standard normal distribution than that of the other residuals in most scenarios. Three applications illustrate the effectiveness of the quantile residual.  相似文献

The focus of this paper is on residual analysis for the lognormal and extreme value or Weibull models, although the proposed methods can be applied to any parametric model. Residuals developed by Barlow and Prentice (1988) for the Cox proportional hazards model are extended to the parametric model setting. Three different residuals are proposed based on this approach with two residuals measuring the impact of survival time and one measuring the impact of the covariates included in the model. In addition, a residual derived from the deviations equality presented in Efron and Johnstone (1990) and the residual proposed by Joergensen (1984) for censored data models are discussed.  相似文献

We derive expansions for the moment generating function which do not depend on complicated functions. The new regression model represents a parametric family of models that includes as sub-models several widely known regression models that can be applied to censored survival data. We employ a frequentist analysis, a jackknife estimator, and a parametric bootstrap for the parameters of the proposed model. We derive the appropriate matrices for assessing local influences on the parameter estimates under different perturbation schemes and present some ways to assess global influences. Further, for different parameter settings, sample sizes, and censoring percentages, several simulations are performed. These studies suggest that the residual analysis usually performed in normal linear regression models can be extended to a modified deviance residual in the proposed regression model applied to censored data. We define martingale and deviance residuals to evaluate the model assumptions. The extended regression model is very useful for the analysis of real data and could give more realistic fits than other special regression models.  相似文献

This paper discusses deviance residual approximations in von Mises regression models. By using a relationship between the von Mises and the wrapped normal distributions, the paper shows that the deviance component of the von Mises distribution is approximately a linear function of the standard normal distribution. Two standardized forms are proposed for the deviance residual, and a simulation study is performed to compare the approximation of the proposed residuals to the standard normal distribution. An illustrative example is given.  相似文献

In this article, dichotomous variables are used to compare between linear and nonlinear Bayesian structural equation models. Gibbs sampling method is applied for estimation and model comparison. Statistical inferences that involve estimation of parameters and their standard deviations and residuals analysis for testing the selected model are discussed. Hidden continuous normal distribution (censored normal distribution) is used to solve the problem of dichotomous variables. The proposed procedure is illustrated by a simulation data obtained from R program. Analyses are done by using R2WinBUGS package in R-program.  相似文献

We present a class of truncated non linear regression models for location and scale where the truncated nature of the data is incorporated into the statistical model by assuming that the response variable follows a truncated distribution. The location parameter of the response variable is assumed to be modeled by a continuous non linear function of covariates and unknown parameters. In addition, the proposed model also allows for the scale parameter of the responses to be characterized by a continuous function of the covariates and unknown parameters. Three particular cases of the proposed models are presented by considering the response variable to follow a truncated normal, truncated skew normal, and truncated beta distribution. These truncated non linear regression models are constructed assuming fixed known truncation limits and model parameters are estimated by direct maximization of the log-likelihood using a non linear optimization algorithm. Standardized residuals and diagnostic metrics based on the cases deletion are considered to verify the adequacy of the model and to detect outliers and influential observations. Results based on simulated data are presented to assess the frequentist properties of estimates, and a real data set on soil-water retention from the Buriti Vermelho River Basin database is analyzed using the proposed methodology.  相似文献

Zero adjusted regression models are used to fit variables that are discrete at zero and continuous at some interval of the positive real numbers. Diagnostic analysis in these models is usually performed using the randomized quantile residual, which is useful for checking the overall adequacy of a zero adjusted regression model. However, it may fail to identify some outliers. In this work, we introduce a class of residuals for outlier identification in zero adjusted regression models. Monte Carlo simulation studies and two applications suggest that one of the residuals of the class introduced here has good properties and detects outliers that are not identified by the randomized quantile residual.  相似文献

Several approaches have been suggested for fitting linear regression models to censored data. These include Cox's proportional hazard models based on quasi-likelihoods. Methods of fitting based on least squares and maximum likelihoods have also been proposed. The methods proposed so far all require special purpose optimization routines. We describe an approach here which requires only a modified standard least squares routine.

We present methods for fitting a linear regression model to censored data by least squares and method of maximum likelihood. In the least squares method, the censored values are replaced by their expectations, and the residual sum of squares is minimized. Several variants are suggested in the ways in which the expectation is calculated. A parametric (assuming a normal error model) and two non-parametric approaches are described. We also present a method for solving the maximum likelihood equations in the estimation of the regression parameters in the censored regression situation. It is shown that the solutions can be obtained by a recursive algorithm which needs only a least squares routine for optimization. The suggested procesures gain considerably in computational officiency. The Stanford Heart Transplant data is used to illustrate the various methods.  相似文献

In this paper, the generalized log-gamma regression model is modified to allow the possibility that long-term survivors may be present in the data. This modification leads to a generalized log-gamma regression model with a cure rate, encompassing, as special cases, the log-exponential, log-Weibull and log-normal regression models with a cure rate typically used to model such data. The models attempt to simultaneously estimate the effects of explanatory variables on the timing acceleration/deceleration of a given event and the surviving fraction, that is, the proportion of the population for which the event never occurs. The normal curvatures of local influence are derived under some usual perturbation schemes and two martingale-type residuals are proposed to assess departures from the generalized log-gamma error assumption as well as to detect outlying observations. Finally, a data set from the medical area is analyzed.  相似文献

This article considers a class of estimators for the location and scale parameters in the location-scale model based on ‘synthetic data’ when the observations are randomly censored on the right. The asymptotic normality of the estimators is established using counting process and martingale techniques when the censoring distribution is known and unknown, respectively. In the case when the censoring distribution is known, we show that the asymptotic variances of this class of estimators depend on the data transformation and have a lower bound which is not achievable by this class of estimators. However, in the case that the censoring distribution is unknown and estimated by the Kaplan–Meier estimator, this class of estimators has the same asymptotic variance and attains the lower bound for variance for the case of known censoring distribution. This is different from censored regression analysis, where asymptotic variances depend on the data transformation. Our method has three valuable advantages over the method of maximum likelihood estimation. First, our estimators are available in a closed form and do not require an iterative algorithm. Second, simulation studies show that our estimators being moment-based are comparable to maximum likelihood estimators and outperform them when sample size is small and censoring rate is high. Third, our estimators are more robust to model misspecification than maximum likelihood estimators. Therefore, our method can serve as a competitive alternative to the method of maximum likelihood in estimation for location-scale models with censored data. A numerical example is presented to illustrate the proposed method.  相似文献

Birnbaum-Saunders models have largely been applied in material fatigue studies and reliability analyses to relate the total time until failure with some type of cumulative damage. In many problems related to the medical field, such as chronic cardiac diseases and different types of cancer, a cumulative damage caused by several risk factors might cause some degradation that leads to a fatigue process. In these cases, BS models can be suitable for describing the propagation lifetime. However, since the cumulative damage is assumed to be normally distributed in the BS distribution, the parameter estimates from this model can be sensitive to outlying observations. In order to attenuate this influence, we present in this paper BS models, in which a Student-t distribution is assumed to explain the cumulative damage. In particular, we show that the maximum likelihood estimates of the Student-t log-BS models attribute smaller weights to outlying observations, which produce robust parameter estimates. Also, some inferential results are presented. In addition, based on local influence and deviance component and martingale-type residuals, a diagnostics analysis is derived. Finally, a motivating example from the medical field is analyzed using log-BS regression models. Since the parameter estimates appear to be very sensitive to outlying and influential observations, the Student-t log-BS regression model should attenuate such influences. The model checking methodologies developed in this paper are used to compare the fitted models.  相似文献

Observations collected over time are often autocorrelated rather than independent, and sometimes include observations below or above detection limits (i.e. censored values reported as less or more than a level of detection) and/or missing data. Practitioners commonly disregard censored data cases or replace these observations with some function of the limit of detection, which often results in biased estimates. Moreover, parameter estimation can be greatly affected by the presence of influential observations in the data. In this paper we derive local influence diagnostic measures for censored regression models with autoregressive errors of order p (hereafter, AR(p)‐CR models) on the basis of the Q‐function under three useful perturbation schemes. In order to account for censoring in a likelihood‐based estimation procedure for AR(p)‐CR models, we used a stochastic approximation version of the expectation‐maximisation algorithm. The accuracy of the local influence diagnostic measure in detecting influential observations is explored through the analysis of empirical studies. The proposed methods are illustrated using data, from a study of total phosphorus concentration, that contain left‐censored observations. These methods are implemented in the R package ARCensReg.  相似文献

For the first time, we introduce a generalized form of the exponentiated generalized gamma distribution [Cordeiro et al. The exponentiated generalized gamma distribution with application to lifetime data, J. Statist. Comput. Simul. 81 (2011), pp. 827–842.] that is the baseline for the log-exponentiated generalized gamma regression model. The new distribution can accommodate increasing, decreasing, bathtub- and unimodal-shaped hazard functions. A second advantage is that it includes classical distributions reported in the lifetime literature as special cases. We obtain explicit expressions for the moments of the baseline distribution of the new regression model. The proposed model can be applied to censored data since it includes as sub-models several widely known regression models. It therefore can be used more effectively in the analysis of survival data. We obtain maximum likelihood estimates for the model parameters by considering censored data. We show that our extended regression model is very useful by means of two applications to real data.  相似文献

Multilevel models have been widely applied to analyze data sets which present some hierarchical structure. In this paper we propose a generalization of the normal multilevel models, named elliptical multilevel models. This proposal suggests the use of distributions in the elliptical class, thus involving all symmetric continuous distributions, including the normal distribution as a particular case. Elliptical distributions may have lighter or heavier tails than the normal ones. In the case of normal error models with the presence of outlying observations, heavy-tailed error models may be applied to accommodate such observations. In particular, we discuss some aspects of the elliptical multilevel models, such as maximum likelihood estimation and residual analysis to assess features related to the fitting and the model assumptions. Finally, two motivating examples analyzed under normal multilevel models are reanalyzed under Student-t and power exponential multilevel models. Comparisons with the normal multilevel model are performed by using residual analysis.  相似文献
