In this paper we investigate limiting properties of predictors of some finite population quantities. Both, the sample size and the population size are considered to become large. Abstract

In this paper, we consider the problem of estimating the quantile of a two-parameter exponential distribution with respect to an arbitrary strictly convex loss function under progressive type II censoring. Inadmissibility of the best affine equivariant (BAE) estimator is established through a conditional risk analysis. In particular we provide dominance results for quadratic, linex and absolute value loss functions. Further, a class of dominating estimators is derived using the IERD (integral expression of risk difference) approach of Kubokawa (1994 Kubokawa, T. 1994. This paper studies methods for simple estimation of the exponential mean parameter in small samples in the presence of outliers. Existing estimation methods are discussed. Adaptation of these methods to allow for Type I censoring is investigated. New robust procedures are proposed. A series of simulation experiments Indicate trimming provides significant protection against outliers while the premium is usually small when trimming uncontarninated samples. A linearly weighted mean is recommended for uncontarninated samples, both censored and complete. In larger samples, (n - 20), the proposed Huber-type estimator performs quite well in all situations of censoring and contarnination  相似文献

An asymptotic expansion of the variance of the uniformly minimum variance unbiased estimator of a class of parameters of the multivariate lognormal distribution is considered. This article investigates a quasi-maximum exponential likelihood estimator(QMELE) for a non stationary generalized autoregressive conditional heteroscedastic (GARCH(1,1)) model. Failure time data subject to three progressive Type-I multistage censoring schemes are studied. Product limit estimators are proposed for the estimation of the survival function. It is shown that the resulting estimators are asymptotically equivalent to the corresponding estimators where the data are subject to a random iid right censoring scheme. Many well-known results on confidence bands and tests for randomly right censored data hold for these progressive censoring schemes.  相似文献

Suppose (X, Y) has a Downton's bivariate exponential distribution with correlation ρ. For a random sample of size n from (X, Y), let X r:n be the rth X-order statistic and Y [r:n] be its concomitant. We investigate estimators of ρ when all the parameters are unknown and the available data is an incomplete bivariate sample made up of (i) all the Y-values and the ranks of associated X-values, i.e. (i, Y [i:n]), 1≤in, and (ii) a Type II right-censored bivariate sample consisting of (X i:n , Y [i:n]), 1≤ir<n. In both setups, we use simulation to examine the bias and mean square errors of several estimators of ρ and obtain their estimated relative efficiencies. The preferred estimator under (i) is a function of the sample correlation of (Y i:n , Y [i:n]) values, and under (ii), a method of moments estimator involving the regression function is preferred.  相似文献

Under the assumption that the exponential distribution is a reasonable model for a given population, some shrinkage estimators for the location parameter based on type 1 and type II censored samples have been derived. It is shown that these estimators dominate maximum likelihood estimators (MLE's) asymptotically under the mean squared error (MSE) criterion. A Monte Carlo study shows a significant improvement of our estimators over MLE's in terms of MSE for small samples.  相似文献

In this paper, we consider the inferential procedures for the generalized inverted exponential distribution under progressive first failure censoring. The exact confidence interval for the scale parameter is derived. The generalized confidence intervals (GCIs) for the shape parameter and some commonly used reliability metrics such as the quantile and the reliability function are explored. Then the proposed procedure is extended to the prediction interval for the future measurement. The GCIs for the reliability of the stress-strength model are discussed under both equal scale and unequal scale scenarios. Extensive simulations are used to demonstrate the performance of the proposed GCIs and prediction interval. Finally, an example is used to illustrate the proposed methods.  相似文献

The area under the receiver operating characteristic curve is the most commonly used summary measure of diagnostic accuracy for a continuous-scale diagnostic test. In this paper, we develop methods to estimate the area under the curve (AUC) with censored data. Based on two different integration representations of this parameter, two nonparametric estimators are defined by the “plug in” method. Both the proposed estimators are shown to be asymptotically normal based on counting process and martingale theory. A simulation study is conducted to evaluate the performances of the proposed estimators.  相似文献

In this paper, we first consider the pseudo maximum likelihood estimation of the univariate GARCH (2,2) model and derive the underlying estimator. Then, we make use of the technique of martingales to establish the asymptotic normality of the pseudo-maximum likelihood estimator (PMLE) of the univariate GARCH (2,2) model. Contrary to previous approaches encountered in the statistical literature, the pseudo-likelihood function uses the general form of the density laws of the quadratic exponential family.  相似文献

In the present paper, minimum Hellinger distance estimates for parameters of a bilinear time series model are presented. The probabilistic properties such as stationarity, existence of moments of the stationary distribution and strong mixing property of the model are well known (see for instance [J. Liu, A note on causality and invertibility of a general bilinear time series model, Adv. Appl. Probab. 22 (1990) 247–250; J. Liu, P.J. Brockwell, On the general bilinear time series model, J. Appl. A generalized Type-I progressive hybrid censoring scheme was proposed recently to overcome the limitations of the progressive hybrid censoring scheme. In this article, we provide a robust Bayesian method to estimate the unknown parameters of the two-parameter exponential distribution of a generalized Type-I progressive hybrid censored sample. For each parameter, we derive the marginal posterior density functions and the corresponding Bayesian estimators under the squared error loss function. The paper studies the asymptotic size property of various specification tests in linear structural models where instrumental variables may locally violate the exclusion restrictions. Our results provide some new insights and extensions of earlier studies. In particular, we derive an explicit formula of the asymptotic size of the tests which shows clearly the factors that influence their size under instrument endogeneity. We show that all tests have correct asymptotic size when the usual orthogonality condition holds, but their asymptotic size can be arbitrary large even if only one instrument is slightly correlated with the error term. We present a Monte Carlo experiment that confirms our theoretical findings.  相似文献

Often, in reliability theory, risk analysis, renewal processes and actuarial studies, mean residual life function or life expectancy plays an important role in studying the conditional tail measure of lifetime data. In this paper, we introduce the notion of the mean residual waiting time of records and present some monotonic and aging properties.
