Let X be a po-normal random vector with unknown µ and unknown covariance matrix ∑ and let X be partitioned as X = (X (1), …, X (r))′ where X(j)is a subvector of X with dimension pjsuch that ∑r j=1Pj = P0. Some admissible tests are derived for testing H0: μ = 0 versus H1: μ ¦0 based on a sample drawn from the whole vector X of dimension p and r additional samples drawn from X(1), X(2), …, X(r) respectively, All (r+1) samples are assumed to be independent. The distribution of some of the tests' statistics involved are also derived.  相似文献

Let X1, …, Xn be independent random variables with XiEWG(α, β, λi, pi), i = 1, …, n, and Y1, …, Yn be another set of independent random variables with YiEWG(α, β, γi, qi), i = 1, …, n. The results established here are developed in two directions. First, under conditions p1 = ??? = pn = q1 = ??? = qn = p, and based on the majorization and p-larger orders between the vectors of scale parameters, we establish the usual stochastic and reversed hazard rate orders between the series and parallel systems. Next, for the case λ1 = ??? = λn = γ1 = ??? = γn = λ, we obtain some results concerning the reversed hazard rate and hazard rate orders between series and parallel systems based on the weak submajorization between the vectors of (p1, …, pn) and (q1, …, qn). The results established here can be used to find various bounds for some important aging characteristics of these systems, and moreover extend some well-known results in the literature.  相似文献

The classical coupon collector's problem is considered, where each new coupon collected is type i with probability pi , ∑ n i = 1 pi = 1. Suppose coupons are collected in a sequence of independent trials. An expression is developed for the probability that all coupon types iij, have been collected prior to collecting r ? 1 coupons of type j in the sequence of trials. Given two different coupon subsets A, B of {1, 2, …, n}, the foregoing is then generalized to an expression for the probability that s ? 1 copies of A appear in the sequence of trials before r ? 1 copies of B. Some computational considerations are discussed.  相似文献

Consider an ergodic Markov chain X(t) in continuous time with an infinitesimal matrix Q = (qij) defined on a finite state space {0, 1,…, N}. In this note, we prove that if X(t) is skip-free positive (negative, respectively), i.e., qij, = 0 for j > i+ 1 (i > j+ 1), then the transition probability pij(t) = Pr[X(t)=j | X(0) =i] can be represented as a linear combination of p0N(t) (p(m)(N0)(t)), 0 ≤ m ≤N, where f(m)(t) denotes the mth derivative of a function f(t) with f(0)(t) =f(t). If X(t) is a birth-death process, then pij(t) is represented as a linear combination of p0N(m)(t), 0 ≤mN - |i-j|.  相似文献

{Xn, n≥1} are independent and identically distributed random variables with continuous distribution function F(x). For j=1,…,n, Xj is called a near-record up to time n if Xj ∈ (Mna, Mn], where Mn = max1≤j≤n {Xj} and a is a positive constant. Let Zn(a) denote the number of near-records after, and including the maximum observation of the sequence. In this paper, the distributional results of Zn(a) are considered and its asymptotic behaviours are studied.  相似文献

In this article, we study large deviations for non random difference ∑n1(t)j = 1X1j ? ∑n2(t)j = 1X2j and random difference ∑N1(t)j = 1X1j ? ∑N2(t)j = 1X2j, where {X1j, j ? 1} is a sequence of widely upper orthant dependent (WUOD) random variables with non identical distributions {F1j(x), j ? 1}, {X2j, j ? 1} is a sequence of independent identically distributed random variables, n1(t) and n2(t) are two positive integer-valued functions, and {Ni(t), t ? 0}2i = 1 with ENi(t) = λi(t) are two counting processes independent of {Xij, j ? 1}2i = 1. Under several assumptions, some results of precise large deviations for non random difference and random difference are derived, and some corresponding results are extended.  相似文献

This paper develops a conditional approach to testing hypotheses set up after viewing the data. For example, suppose Xi are estimates of location parameters θi, i = 1,…n. We show how to compute p-values for testing whether θ1 is one of the three largest θi after observing that X1 is one of the three largest Xi, or for testing whether θ1 > θ2 > … > θn after observing X1 >X2> … >Xn.  相似文献

Let X1,…, Xn be mutually independent non-negative integer-valued random variables with probability mass functions fi(x) > 0 for z= 0,1,…. Let E denote the event that {X1X2≥…≥Xn}. This note shows that, conditional on the event E, Xi-Xi+ 1 and Xi+ 1 are independent for all t = 1,…, k if and only if Xi (i= 1,…, k) are geometric random variables, where 1 ≤kn-1. The k geometric distributions can have different parameters θi, i= 1,…, k.  相似文献

Progressively Type-II censored conditionally N-ordered statistics (PCCOS-N) arising from iid random vectors Xi = (X1i, X2i, …, Xip), i = 1, 2…, n, were investigated by Bairamov (2006 Bairamov, I. (2006). Progressive Type II censored order statistics for multivariate observations. J. Mult. Anal. 97:797809.[Crossref], [Web of Science ®] [Google Scholar]), with respect to the magnitudes of N(Xi), i = 1, 2, …, n, where N( · ) is a p-variate measurable function defined on the support set of X1 satisfying certain regularity conditions and N(Xi) denotes the lifetime of the random vector Xi, i = 1, …, n. Under the PCCOS-N sampling scheme, n independent units are placed on a life-test and after the ith failure, Ri (i = 1, …, m) of the surviving units are removed at random from the remaining observations. In this article, we consider PCCOS-N arising from a vector with identical as well as non identical dependent components, jointly distributed according to a unified elliptically contoured copula (PCCOSDUECC-N). Results established here contain the previous results as particular cases. Illustrative examples and simulation studies show that PCCOSDUECC-N enables us to analyze the lifetime of several systems, including repairable systems and systems with standby components, more efficiently than PCCOS-N.  相似文献

Let X1,…,X2n be independent and identically distributed copies of the non-negative integer valued random variable X distributed according to the unknown frequency function f(x). A total of 2n disjoint sequences of urns, each consisting of k urns, are given. Xj balls are placed in urn sequence j (1 ≤ j ≤ 2n). Each ball is placed in an urn of a given sequence with a certain known probability independently of the other balls. The variables X1,…,X2n are not observed; rather we observe whether certain pairs of urns are both empty or not. Our object is to estimate the mean μ of the number of balls X. Two different kinds of estimators of μ are investigated. One of the estimators studied is a method of moments type estimator while the other is motivated by the maximum likelihood principle. These estimators are compared on the basis of their asymptotic mean squared error as k tends to infinity. An application of these results to a problem in genetics involved with estimating codon substitution rates is discussed.  相似文献

This article derives the likelihood ratio statistic to test the independence between (X 1,…,X r ) and (X r+1,…,X k ) under the assumption that (X 1,…,X k ) has a multivariate normal distribution and that a sample of size n is available, where for N observation vectors all components are available, while for M = (n + N) observation vectors, the data on the last q components, (Xk-q+1,…,X k ) are missing (k+q≥r).  相似文献

Let (X1,X2, …,Xn) be jointly distributed random variables. Define Xn:n = max(X1,X2, …,Xn).Bounds on E(Xn:n), obtained by putting constraints on the distributions and/or dependence structure of the Xi's, are surveyed.  相似文献

Let Xi:j denote the ith order statistic of a random sample of size j from a continuous life distribution. We show that if Xk:n, is IFR, IFRA, NBU, or DMRL, so are Xk+1:n, Xk+1:n?1 and Xk+1:n+1. Further we show that, in the first three cases, Xk+1:n+2 also shares the corresponding property if k ≤ (n+3)/2. We also present dual results for DFR, DFRA and NWU classes.  相似文献

Let X 1,X 2,…,X n be independent exponential random variables such that X i has hazard rate λ for i = 1,…,p and X j has hazard rate λ* for j = p + 1,…,n, where 1 ≤ p < n. Denote by D i:n (λ, λ*) = X i:n  ? X i?1:n the ith spacing of the order statistics X 1:n  ≤ X 2:n  ≤ ··· ≤ X n:n , i = 1,…,n, where X 0:n ≡ 0. It is shown that the spacings (D 1,n ,D 2,n ,…,D n:n ) are MTP2, strengthening one result of Khaledi and Kochar (2000), and that (D 1:n 2, λ*),…,D n:n 2, λ*)) ≤ lr (D 1:n 1, λ*),…,D n:n 1, λ*)) for λ1 ≤ λ* ≤ λ2, where ≤ lr denotes the multivariate likelihood ratio order. A counterexample is also given to show that this comparison result is in general not true for λ* < λ1 < λ2.  相似文献

Let X1,X2,…,Xp be p random variables with cdf's F1(x),F2(x),…,Fp(x)respectively. Let U = min(X1,X2,…,Xp) and V = max(X1,X2,…,Xp).In this paper we study the problem of uniquely determining and estimating the marginal distributions F1,F2,…,Fp given the distribution of U or of V.

First the problem of competing and complementary risks are introduced with examples and the corresponding identification problems are considered when the X1's are independently distributed and U(V) is identified, as well as the case when U(V) is not identified. The case when the X1's are dependent is considered next. Finally the problem of estimation is considered.  相似文献

A sequence {Xn, n≥1} of independent and identically distributed random variables with absolutely continuous (with respect to Lebesque measure) cumulative distribution function F(x) is considered. Xj is a record value of this sequence if Xj>max(X1,…,Xj?1), j>1. Let {XL(n), n≥0} with L(o)=1 be the sequence of such record values and Zn,n?1=XL(n)–XL(n?1). Some properties of Zn,n?1 are studied and characterizations of the exponential distribution are discussed in terms of the expectation and the hazard rate of zn,n?1.  相似文献

In an earlier paper the authors (1997) extended the results of Hayter (1990) to the two parameter exponential probability model. This paper addressee the extention to the scale parameter case under location-scale probability model. Consider k (k≧3) treatments or competing firms such that an observation from with treatment or firm follows a distribution with cumulative distribution function (cdf) Fi(x)=F[(x-μi)/Qi], where F(·) is any absolutely continuous cdf, i=1,…,k. We propose a test to test the null hypothesis H01=…=θk against the simple ordered alternative H11≦…≦θk, with at least one strict inequality, using the data Xi,j, i=1,…k; j=1,…,n1. Two methods to compute the critical points of the proposed test have been demonstrated by talking k two parameter exponential distributions. The test procedure also allows us to construct simultaneous one sided confidence intervals (SOCIs) for the ordered pairwise ratios θji, 1≦i<j≦k. Statistical simulation revealed that: 9i) actual sizes of the critical points are almost conservative and (ii) power of the proposed test relative to some existing tests is higher.  相似文献

Let X 1, X 2,…, X n be independent exponential random variables with X i having failure rate λ i for i = 1,…, n. Denote by D i:n  = X i:n  ? X i?1:n the ith spacing of the order statistics X 1:n  ≤ X 2:n  ≤ ··· ≤ X n:n , i = 1,…, n, where X 0:n ≡ 0. It is shown that if λ n+1 ≤ [≥] λ k for k = 1,…, n then D n:n  ≤ lr D n+1:n+1 and D 1:n  ≤ lr D 2:n+1 [D 2:n+1 ≤ lr D 2:n ], and that if λ i  + λ j  ≥ λ k for all distinct i,j, and k then D n?1:n  ≤ lr D n:n and D n:n+1 ≤ lr D n:n , where ≤ lr denotes the likelihood ratio order. We also prove that D 1:n  ≤ lr D 2:n for n ≥ 2 and D 2:3 ≤ lr D 3:3 for all λ i 's.  相似文献

Let π1,…,πp be p independent normal populations with means μ1…, μp and variances σ21,…, σ2p respectively. Let X(ni) be a simple random sample of size ni from πi, i = 1,…,p. Given the simple random samples X(n1),…, X(np) from π1,…,πp respectively, a test has been proposed for testing the homogeneity of variances H0: σ21=…σ2p, against the restricted alternative, H1: σ21≥…≥σ2p, with at least one strict inequality. Some properties of the test are discussed and critical values are tabulated.  相似文献
