In this paper, we derive the almost unbiased generalized Liu estimator and examine an exact unbiased estimator of the bias and mean squared error of the feasible generalized Liu estimator . In this article, we aim to study the linearized ridge regression (LRR) estimator in a linear regression model motivated by the work of Liu (1993). The LRR estimator and the two types of generalized Liu estimators are investigated under the PRESS criterion. The method of obtaining the optimal generalized ridge regression (GRR) estimator is derived from the optimal LRR estimator. We apply the Hald data as a numerical example and then make a simulation study to show the main results. It is concluded that the idea of transforming the GRR estimator as a complicated function of the biasing parameters to a linearized version should be paid more attention in the future.  相似文献

In this paper, we are proposing a modified jackknife Liu-type estimator (MJLTE) that was created by combining the ideas underlying both the Liu-type estimator (LTE) and the jackknifed Liu-type estimator (JLTE). We will also present the necessary and sufficient conditions for superiority of the MJLTE over the LTE and JLTE, in terms of mean square error matrix criterion. Finally, a real data example and a Monte Carlo simulation are also given to illustrate theoretical results.  相似文献

ABSTRACT

In this paper, we propose three generalized estimators, namely, generalized unrestricted estimator (GURE), generalized stochastic restricted estimator (GSRE), and generalized preliminary test stochastic restricted estimator (GPTSRE). The GURE can be used to represent the ridge estimator, almost unbiased ridge estimator (AURE), Liu estimator, and almost unbiased Liu estimator. When stochastic restrictions are available in addition to the sample information, the GSRE can be used to represent stochastic mixed ridge estimator, stochastic restricted Liu estimator, stochastic restricted almost unbiased ridge estimator, and stochastic restricted almost unbiased Liu estimator. The GPTSRE can be used to represent the preliminary test estimators based on mixed estimator. Using the GPTSRE, the properties of three other preliminary test estimators, namely preliminary test stochastic mixed ridge estimator, preliminary test stochastic restricted almost unbiased Liu estimator, and preliminary test stochastic restricted almost unbiased ridge estimator can also be discussed. The mean square error matrix criterion is used to obtain the superiority conditions to compare the estimators based on GPTSRE with some biased estimators for the two cases for which the stochastic restrictions are correct, and are not correct. Finally, a numerical example and a Monte Carlo simulation study are done to illustrate the theoretical findings of the proposed estimators.  相似文献

In this paper, a generalized difference-based estimator is introduced for the vector parameter β in the semiparametric regression model when the errors are correlated. A generalized difference-based Liu estimator is defined for the vector parameter β in the semiparametric regression model. Under the linear nonstochastic constraint Rβ=r, the generalized restricted difference-based Liu estimator is given. One of the problems with the Liu estimator is the appropriate value for the unknown biasing parameter d. In this article we consider the optimum value for d and give upper bound for the expected value of the estimator of this biasing parameter. We also derive the general expressions for the moments of the stochastic shrinkage parameters of the Liu estimator and the generalized Liu estimator. Numerical calculations are carried out to illustrate the behavior of the mean and variance of the biasing parameter. Also, a numerical example is given to illustrate the effect of the biasing parameter d, on the mean square error of the Liu estimator.  相似文献

In this article, we introduce a new stochastic restricted estimator for the unknown vector parameter in the linear regression model when stochastic linear restrictions on the parameters hold. We show that the new estimator is a generalization of the ordinary mixed estimator (OME), Liu estimator (LE), ordinary ridge estimator (ORR), (k-d) class estimator, stochastic restricted Liu estimator (SRLE), and stochastic restricted ridge estimator (SRRE). Performance of the new estimator in comparison to other estimators in terms of the mean squares error matrix (MMSE) is examined. Using the idea of impirical influence function, Hinkley (1977), the weighted jackknife technique is extended to ratio estimation. A weighted jackknife variance estimator for the ratio estimator is developed. Using the prediction theory approach, the properties of the weighted jackknifed variance estimator are examined. The implications of the failures of regression model on the behaviour of the weighted jackknifed variance estimator, for ratio estimation, are also studied.  相似文献

?iray et al. proposed a restricted Liu estimator to overcome multicollinearity in the logistic regression model. They also used a Monte Carlo simulation to study the properties of the restricted Liu estimator. However, they did not present the theoretical result about the mean squared error properties of the restricted estimator compared to MLE, restricted maximum likelihood estimator (RMLE) and Liu estimator. In this article, we compare the restricted Liu estimator with MLE, RMLE and Liu estimator in the mean squared error sense and we also present a method to choose a biasing parameter. This article considers the predictive performance of the almost unbiased Liu estimator compared to the ordinary least-squares estimator, principal component regression estimator, and Liu estimator. In this article, a two-parameter estimator is proposed to combat multicollinearity in the negative binomial regression model. The proposed two-parameter estimator is a general estimator which includes the maximum likelihood (ML) estimator, the ridge estimator (RE) and the Liu estimator as special cases. Some properties on the asymptotic mean-squared error (MSE) are derived and necessary and sufficient conditions for the superiority of the two-parameter estimator over the ML estimator and sufficient conditions for the superiority of the two-parameter estimator over the RE and the Liu estimator in the asymptotic mean-squared error (MSE) matrix sense are obtained. Furthermore, several methods and three rules for choosing appropriate shrinkage parameters are proposed. This article generalizes the ordinary mixed estimator (OME) in theory, and obtains the estimator of the unknown regression parameters in singular linear models with stochastic linear restrictions: singular mixed estimator (SME). We also give some properties of SME obtained in this article, and prove that it is superior to unrestricted least squared estimator (LSE) in singular linear models in the sense of the covariance matrix and generalized mean square error (GMSE). After that, we also have a discussion about the two-stage estimator of SME. The result we give in this article could be regarded as generalizations of both OME and unrestricted LSE at the same time.  相似文献

In this paper we introduce a new biased estimator for the vector of parameters in a linear regression model and discuss its properties. We show that our new biased estimator is superior, in the mean square error(mse) sense, to the ordinary least squares (OLS) estimator, the ordinary ridge regression (ORR) estimator and the Liu estimator. We also compare the performance of our new biased estimator with two other special Liu-type estimators proposed in Liu (2003). We illustrate our findings with a numerical example based on the widely analysed dataset on Portland cement.  相似文献

It is shown by simulation t h a t the (arc-sine transformation of the) Kaplan-Meier survival estimator for censored data can be usefully jackknifed to give conservative confidence limits for survival probabilities when samples are small (25 and 50).
