In this article, we introduce a class of tests, using a martingale approach, for testing independence of failure time and cause of failure for competing risks data. Asymptotic distribution of the proposed test statistic is derived. The procedure is illustrated with a real-life data. A simulation study is carried out to assess the level and power of the test.  相似文献

Abstract.  Dependence structures between the failure time and the cause of failure are expressed in terms of the monotonicity properties of the conditional probabilities involving the cause of failure and the failure time. These properties of the conditional probabilities are used for testing four types of departures from the independence of the failure time and the cause of failure and tests based on U -statistics are proposed. In the process, a concept of concordance and discordance between a continuous and a binary variable is introduced to propose a statistical test. The proposed tests are applied to two illustrative applications.  相似文献

Recently, exact inference under hybrid censoring scheme has attracted extensive attention in the field of reliability analysis. However, most of the authors neglect the possibility of competing risks model. This paper mainly discusses the exact likelihood inference for the analysis of generalized type-I hybrid censoring data with exponential competing failure model. Based on the maximum likelihood estimates for unknown parameters, we establish the exact conditional distribution of parameters by conditional moment generating function, and then obtain moment properties as well as exact confidence intervals (CIs) for parameters. Furthermore, approximate CIs are constructed by asymptotic distribution and bootstrap method as well. We also compare their performances with exact method through the use of Monte Carlo simulations. And finally, a real data set is analysed to illustrate the validity of all the methods developed here.  相似文献

We consider the semiparametric proportional hazards model for the cause-specific hazard function in analysis of competing risks data with missing cause of failure. The inverse probability weighted equation and augmented inverse probability weighted equation are proposed for estimating the regression parameters in the model, and their theoretical properties are established for inference. Simulation studies demonstrate that the augmented inverse probability weighted estimator is doubly robust and the proposed method is appropriate for practical use. The simulations also compare the proposed estimators with the multiple imputation estimator of Lu and Tsiatis (2001). The application of the proposed method is illustrated using data from a bone marrow transplant study.  相似文献

In this paper, we consider some problems of estimation and reconstruction based on middle censored competing risks data. It is assumed that the lifetime distributions of the latent failure times are independent and exponential distributed with different parameters and also that the censoring mechanism is independent. The maximum likelihood estimators (MLEs) of the unknown parameters are obtained. We then use the asymptotic distribution of the MLEs to construct approximate confidence intervals. Based on gamma priors, Lindley's approximation method is applied to obtain the Bayesian estimates of the unknown parameters under squared error loss function. Since it is not possible to construct the credible intervals, we propose and implement the Gibbs sampling technique to construct the credible intervals. Several point reconstructors for failure time of censored units are provided. Finally, a simulation study is given by Monte-Carlo simulations to evaluate the performances of the different methods and a data set is analysed to illustrate the proposed procedures.  相似文献

Typically, differences in the effect of treatment on competing risks are compared by a weighted log-rank test. This test compares the cause specific hazard rates between the groups. Often the test does not agree with the impressions gained from plots of the cumulative incidence functions. Here we discuss several K-sample tests allowing us to directly compare cumulative incidence functions. These include tests based on the weighted integrated difference between the subdistribution hazards or cumulative incidence functions, Kolmogorov-Smirnov type test, and Renyi type test. In addition to unadjusted comparison techniques, tests based on the regression modeling of the cumulative incidence functions are considered. A simulation study is used to compare the various tests and to assess their power against different alternatives. The methods are illustrated using real data examples.  相似文献

ABSTRACT

In this article, we consider a simple step-stress life test in the presence of exponentially distributed competing risks. It is assumed that the stress is changed when a pre-specified number of failures takes place. The data is assumed to be Type-II censored. We obtain the maximum likelihood estimators of the model parameters and the exact conditional distributions of the maximum likelihood estimators. Based on the conditional distribution, approximate confidence intervals (CIs) of unknown parameters have been constructed. Percentile bootstrap CIs of model parameters are also provided. Optimal test plan is addressed. We perform an extensive simulation study to observe the behaviour of the proposed method. The performances are quite satisfactory. Finally we analyse two data sets for illustrative purposes.  相似文献

In this paper, we discuss the problem of predicting times to the latent failures of units censored in multiple stages in a progressively Type-II censored competing risks model. It is assumed that the lifetime distribution of the latent failure times are independent and exponential-distributed with the different scale parameters. Several classical point predictors such as the maximum likelihood predictor, the best unbiased predictor, the best linear unbiased predictor, the median unbiased predictor and the conditional median predictor are obtained. The Bayesian point predictors are derived under squared error loss criterion. Moreover, the point estimators of the unknown parameters are obtained using the observed data and different point predictors of the latent failure times. Finally, Monte-Carlo simulations are carried out to compare the performances of the different methods of prediction and estimation and one real data is used to illustrate the proposed procedures.  相似文献

In the competing risks analysis, most inferences have been developed based on continuous failure time data. However, failure times are sometimes observed as being discrete. We propose nonparametric inferences for the cumulative incidence function for pure discrete data with competing risks. When covariate information is available, we propose semiparametric inferences for direct regression modelling of the cumulative incidence function for grouped discrete failure time data with competing risks. Simulation studies show that the procedures perform well. The proposed methods are illustrated with a study of contraceptive use in Indonesia.  相似文献

Accelerated life testing of a product under more severe than normal conditions is cawiionly used to reduce test time and cost. Data collected at such accelerated conditions is used to obtain estimates of parameters of a stress translation function which is then used to make inference about the product's, per" formance under normal conditions. This problem is considered when the product is a p component series system with WeibuH distributed component lifetimes liaving a caimon shape parameter. A general stress translation function is used and estimates of model parameters are obtained for various censoring schemes.  相似文献

The case-cohort design brings cost reduction in large cohort studies. In this paper, we consider a nonlinear quantile regression model for censored competing risks under the case-cohort design. Two different estimation equations are constructed with or without the covariates information of other risks included, respectively. The large sample properties of the estimators are obtained. The asymptotic covariances are estimated by using a fast resampling method, which is useful to consider further inferences. The finite sample performance of the proposed estimators is assessed by simulation studies. Also a real example is used to demonstrate the application of the proposed methods.  相似文献

Abstract

Recently, the study of the lifetime of systems in reliability and survival analysis in the presence of several causes of failure (competing risks) has attracted attention in the literature. In this paper, series and parallel systems with exponential lifetime for each item of the system are considered. Several causes of failure independently affect lifetime distributions and observations of failure times of the systems are considered under progressive Type-II censored scheme. For series systems, the maximum likelihood estimates of parameters are computed and confidence intervals for parameters of the model are obtained using Fisher information matrix. For parallel systems, the generalized EM algorithm which uses the Newton-Raphson algorithm inside the EM algorithm is used to compute the maximum likelihood estimates of parameters. Also, the standard errors of the maximum likelihood estimates are computed by using the supplemented EM algorithm. The simulation study confirms the good performance of the introduced approach.  相似文献

Accelerated life testing of a product under more severe than normal conditions is commonly used to reduce test time and costs. Data collected at such accelerated conditions are used to obtain estimates of the parameters of a stress translation function. This function is then used to make inference about the product's life under normal operating conditions. We consider the problem of accelerated life tests when the product of interest is a p component series system. Each of the components is assumed to have an independent Weibull time to failure distribution with different shape parameters and different scale parameters which are increasing functions stress. A general model i s used for the scale parameter includes the standard engineering models as special This model also has an appealing biological interpretation  相似文献

Summary. Bayesian analysis of system failure data from engineering applications under a competing risks framework is considered when the cause of failure may not have been exactly identified but has only been narrowed down to a subset of all potential risks. In statistical literature, such data are termed masked failure data. In addition to masking, failure times could be right censored owing to the removal of prototypes at a prespecified time or could be interval censored in the case of periodically acquired readings. In this setting, a general Bayesian formulation is investigated that includes most commonly used parametric lifetime distributions and that is sufficiently flexible to handle complex forms of censoring. The methodology is illustrated in two engineering applications with a special focus on model comparison issues.  相似文献

One of the general problems in clinical trials and mortality rates is the comparison of competing risks. Most of the test statistics used for independent and dependent risks with censored data belong to the class of weighted linear rank tests in its multivariate version. In this paper, we introduce the saddlepoint approximations as accurate and fast approximations for the exact p-values of this class of tests instead of the asymptotic and permutation simulated calculations. Real data examples and extensive simulation studies showed the accuracy and stability performance of the saddlepoint approximations over different scenarios of lifetime distributions, sample sizes and censoring.  相似文献

In a recent paper by Mao, Shi and Sun that appeared in Journal of Statistical Computation and Simulation, the authors discuss, among other approaches, the construction of exact confidence intervals for the underlying parameters by ‘pivoting the cumulative distribution functions’ of the corresponding maximum likelihood estimators (MLEs). The authors assume that this method is applicable without providing the appropriate justification. In this short note the two requirements for the applicability of this method are discussed, namely, the stochastic monotonicity of the MLEs and the existence of solutions to the equations defining the exact confidence interval's endpoints.  相似文献

In competing risks models, the joint distribution of the event times is not identifiable even when the margins are fully known, which has been referred to as the “identifiability crisis in competing risks analysis” (Crowder, 1991). We model the dependence between the event times by an unknown copula and show that identification is actually possible within many frequently used families of copulas. The result is then extended to the case where one margin is unknown. The Canadian Journal of Statistics 41: 291–303; 2013 © 2013 Statistical Society of Canada  相似文献

Let X1,X2,…,Xp be p random variables with cdf's F1(x),F2(x),…,Fp(x)respectively. Let U = min(X1,X2,…,Xp) and V = max(X1,X2,…,Xp).In this paper we study the problem of uniquely determining and estimating the marginal distributions F1,F2,…,Fp given the distribution of U or of V.

First the problem of competing and complementary risks are introduced with examples and the corresponding identification problems are considered when the X1's are independently distributed and U(V) is identified, as well as the case when U(V) is not identified. The case when the X1's are dependent is considered next. Finally the problem of estimation is considered.  相似文献

In survival and reliability studies, panel count data arise when we investigate a recurrent event process and each study subject is observed only at discrete time points. If recurrent events of several types are possible, we obtain panel count data with competing risks. Such data arise frequently from transversal studies on recurrent events in demography, epidemiology and reliability experiments where the individuals cannot be observed continuously. In the present paper, we propose an isotonic regression estimator for the cause specific mean function of the underlying recurrent event process of a competing risks panel count data. Further, a nonparametric test is proposed to compare the cause specific mean functions of the panel count competing risks data. Asymptotic properties of the proposed estimator and test statistic are studied. A simulation study is conducted to assess the finite sample behaviour of the proposed estimator and test statistic. Finally, the procedures developed are applied to a real data arising from skin cancer chemo prevention trial.  相似文献
