武警官兵情牵“春蕾计划”

The People＇s Armed Police has donated a combined four million yuan （US $655,738） -- during two presentations -- to the Spring Bud Project so far this year. The money will fund a scholarship that will support 1,100 high school girls from Jiangxi and Anhui provinces. Two ceremonies were held -- the first on March 1 in Jiangxi and the other March 2 in Anhui -- to mark the donations.

CCTF, Nestle Team Up to Improve Health of Newborns, Women
The China Children and Teenagers＇ Foundation （CCTF）, on April 22, 2014, received a donation of 30 million yuan （US $4.9 million） from Nestl6 China to fund a project aimed at improving the health of women and newborns in China. The donation was made in Beijing. The project, entitled ＂1,000 Days Action for Newborn and Maternal Health,＂ is intended to raise public awareness of the significance of the 1,000 days from conception to a child＇s second birthday, through various types of publicity and training. It is also intended to improve the nutrition of newborns and their mothers.     

“母亲邮包”使青海3万名贫困母亲受益

The Project Postal Parcel for Mothers was launched in Northwest China＇s Qinghai Province in 2012.Since then, employees of Qinghai Women and Children＇s Development Foundation have helped the project＇s organizers raise more than 2.9 million yuan （US $475,409）. All of that money has been used to help about 30,000 impoverished mothers.     

世界水日 关爱生命——“母亲水窖·润泽十年”宣传倡导活动在京举行

The Land of Love Water Cellar for Mothers Project, under the China Women＇s Development Foundation （CWDF）, held a ceremony on March 22, in Beijing, to celebrate World Water Day. During the ceremony, 10 singers and actors were named project ambassadors. Also, nearly 20 million yuan （US $2.9 million） in donations were collected from 23 comoanies and institutions.     

空军持续19年捐助“春蕾计划”

The Air Force of China＇s People＇s Liberation Army （PLA） on December 9, 2013, donated 10 million yuan （US S1.64 million） to the Spring Bud Project. The project, established and administered by the China Children and Teenagers＇ Foundation （CCTF）, is intended to help female dropouts return to school.     

空军官兵第八次向“春蕾计划”捐款

The People＇s Liberation Army （PLA） Air Force on July 30, 2010, donated 10 million yuan （US $1.47 million） to the Spring Bud Project, a program aimed at helping girl dropouts, in poverty- stricken areas, return to school. The donation was the eighth by China＇s air force in the past 15 years.

《我国家庭教育指导服务现状调查报告》发布 Initial findings are in and, based on the survey＇s results, the Chinese Government plans to play a greater role in the guidance of family education across the nation. The Chinese Family Education Guidance Service Report was released -- by officials from the China Family Education Society （CFES）, the Department for Children of the All-China Women＇s Federation （ACWF）, and the China National Children＇s Center （CNCC） during a news conference in Beijing, on September 15.     

听见爱的呼唤——“听障儿童救助专项基金”首批受益儿童来京治疗

Five hearing-impaired children arrived in Beijing on December 3, 2013, the International Day of Persons with Disabilities, to receive free cochlear implants at the General Hospital of the People＇s Liberation Army （PLA）. The children became the first beneficiaries of a fund -- established by China Children and Teenagers＇ Foundation （CCTF）, the PLA General Hospital, People＇s Insurance Company of China （PICC） and Hangzhou Nurotron Biotechnology Co., Ltd -- to treat hearing-impaired children.     

西安市建立妇女儿童发展研究基地

The Xi＇an （capital of Northwest China＇s Shaanxi Province） Women＇s Federation and Xi＇an Academy of Social Sciences recently hosted, in the academy, a conference to mark the founding of the Xi＇an Research Base of Women and Children＇s Development. More than 60 people -- including leaders of the federation and academy, liaison persons of the member units of the working committee on children and women under the municipal government, directors of the offices of the working committees on children and women under the governments of various districts and counties, and scholars dedicated to studying wolnen and children＇s development -- attended.     

青岛市妇儿工委办进一步推进为妇女儿童办实事工作

The Shandong Provincial Party （Communist Party of China） Committee has included work related to the protection of women and children＇s legal rights and interests in the standards for the evaluation of government organs＇ work. Officials of the Qingdao （a city in East China＇s Shandong Province） Working Committee on Children and Women recently monitored the city＇s work related to women and children, and they concluded the city had done the following during the first half of this year：     

Promoting Harmony within Families

The ACWF and the Chinese Women＇s Research Society （CWRS） held, in Beijing on October 30, a seminar on eradicating sexual harassment in universities. Tan Lin, Member of ACWF＇s Secretariat and Vice-President of CWRS, Gao Shawei, Director of ACWF＇s Legal Department, and Xu Tao, Director of the Teachers＇ Department of China＇s Ministry of Education, spoke during the event. More than 50 people -- including leaders and teachers from 22 universities （in various regions of China）, each of which has established a women and gender research and training base with ACWF and CWRS＇s help -- attended. During the seminar, many participants offeredsuggestions on how to curb and prevent sexual harassment.     

国务院妇儿工委办公室组织专家开展“儿童纲要实施项目”国家级督导

To promote the National Program for Children＇s Development （2011-2020）, the Office of the National Working Committee on Children and Women （NWCCW） under the State Council, in cooperation with the United Nations International Children＇s Emergency Fund （UNICEF）, implemented a five-year （2011- 2015） project to promote implementation of the program in the 20 counties, cities or districts in which the project was introduced. The purpose of the project is to help solve the problems children face in their lives, to promote children＇s development and to protect children＇s legal rights and interests.     

全国妇联召开健全农村留守儿童关爱服务体系专题研讨会

The seminar on improving the system used to care for rural left- behind children was held in January 2014 by the Department for Children, under the All-China Women＇s Federation （ACWF）. in Nanchong, a city in South China＇s Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region. Various experts and the presidents and directors-general of the departments for children under the wonlen＇s federations of 14 provinces, autonomous regions or municipalities attended.

The ＂2 NPAs＂ refer to the National Program for Women＇s Development （2001-2010） and the National Program for Children＇s Development （2001-2010）. Prior to the 2 NPAs, China had issued the National Program for Women＇s Development （1995-2000） and the National Program of Action for Child Development in China in the 1990s.

全国妇联、国务院妇儿工委办公窒召开反家暴立法研讨会

The All-China Women＇s Federation （ACWF） and the National Working Committee on Children and Women （NWCCW） under the State Council plan to organize experts, who study laws and regulations, to study key and difficult issues related to the promotion of anti-domestic violence legislation. In conjunction with the 14th International Day for the Elimination of Violence Against Women （on November 25, 2013）, the organizations hosted a seminar to discuss anti-domestic violence legislation in Beijing. Organizers invited experts from the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences, Peking University, China University of Political Science and Law, and the Women＇s Studies Institutes of China, to ACWF＇s headquarters to discuss issues related to the promotion of anti-domestic violence legislation.     

第五届中美妇女领导者交流对话会在美召开

On the sidelines of the fourth round of the China-US High-Level Consultation on People-to-People Exchange, the Fifth China-US Women＇s Leadership Exchange and Dialogue （WLEAD Dialogue） was held, in the US, on November 21. The event, with the theme ＂Women, Science and Education,＂ was co-chaired by the All-China Women＇s Federation （ACWF） and the US Secretary＇s Office of Global Women＇s Issues.     

大力发展手工编织 促进妇女就业创业

The All-China Women＇s Federation （ACWF） and China＇s Ministry of Human Resources and Social Security held, in Chengdu （capital of Southwest China＇s Sichuan Province） on May 8, a conference to demonstrate and promote achievements in developing the weaving industry to help women find work and/or start a business. Shen Yueyue, Vice- Chairperson of the NPC （National People＇s Congress） Standing Committee and ACWF President, spoke during the conference. Song Xiuyan, Vice- President and First Member of the Secretariat of ACWF, hosted the event.

Led by Su Fengjie, Deputy Director of the Office of the National Working Committee on Children and Women （NWCCW）, a team from NWCCW recently completed an inspection tour of Anyang （in Central China＇s Henan Province）, during which the team＇s members monitored the city＇s efforts to implement the National Program for Women＇s Development （2011-2020） and the National Program for Children＇s Development （2011-2020） （the two NPAs）.
