妇女进步与我们的未来 全国妇联副主席孟晓驷在香港“北京＋15妇女地位论坛”上的演讲（摘要）

It is my pleasure to be here in Hong Kong at the Beijing ＋ 15 Forum of Status of Women amid the elegance and charm of China＇s Pearl of the Orient, and to have the opportunity to meet and discuss with the women of Hong Kong their good works. As this year marks the 15th anniversary of the Fourth World Conference on Women in Beijing, it is an apt date indeed for the Hong Kong Federation of Women to hold this forum. One hundred years ago, the Second International Socialist Women＇s Conference designated March 8 International Women＇s Day. Since then, March 8 has been a festival for women around the world.

＇Showing a Beautiful World＇ Exhibition Held To commemorate the 100th anniversary of International Women＇s Day （IWD）, the women＇s federation in Baoshan District, Shanghai, held the ＂Showing a Beautiful World＂ Exhibition to display works by Baoshan women. Although IWD was on March 8, the exhibit was held in Shanghai on March 1. In December 2009, the Baoshan Women＇s Federation announced its plan to collect original works by Baoshan women. The response was positive. Women contributed more than 120 calligraphies, paintings, photographs and embroideries, among other works. The items reflected the wisdom of the women, displayed Baoshan women＇s pursuit of beauty, and extended the women＇s best wishes to the World Expo 2010 Shanghai. The expo will open on May 1.

The year 2010 is the last year of the Eleventh Five-Year Plan for National Economic and Social Development as well as the final year of the 2001-2010 Program for Women and Children. In addition, this year marks the centenary of the International Working Women＇s Day. We will continue to take the Scientific Outlook on Development as our guide, diligently serve the overall interests of the country, serve women and serve local branches of the All-China Women＇s Federation and strive to open up new prospects for programs to help women.

Invited by the president of Polish Women＇s League, a four-member delegation of Chinese women visited Poland and attended the event to commemorate the 100th anniversary of the establishment of Polish Women＇s League from October 18-20, 2013. The delegation, headed by Mu Hong, Director-General of the International Department of the All-China Women＇s Federation, visited grass-roots organizations of Polish Women＇s League. A. Michalak, President of Polish Women＇s League, met with the delegation. Both sides shared their opinions on improving the friendly cooperation between Chinese and Polish women. The visit helped to renew the traditional friendship between ACWF and Polish Women＇s League.

China＇s top 10 career women role models were honored at Chang＇an Grand Theater, in Beijing, during the evening of March 3, just days before the 100th anniversary of International Women＇s Day. Created by popular talk show host Yang I_an and her Sun Media Group in 2007, and co-sponsored by All-China Women＇s Federation （ACWF）, Chinese web portal sina.com and Hunan Satellite TV, the awards are presented annually to extraordinary Chinese professional women.

I think it is an essential read for anyone interested in gender equality and （anyone who） supports win-win progress for both men and women. I would like to see more debate on family and cultural issues, though, and read more about the secret to China＇s economic growth. “2010·中国女性艺术大展”在妇女儿童博物馆开幕

An exhibition of Chinese women＇s art opened on March 25 at the Beijing-based Chinese Museum of Women and Children. The exhibit was part of the celebrations to mark the 100th anniversary of lnternatioual Women＇s Day.     

印度妇女组织联合代表团访华

Invited by the All-China Women＇s Federation （ACWF）, a six-member delegation of Indian women, headed by Mrs. Gomathi Nair, President of the All India Women＇s Conference, visited Beijing and Shanghai from July 25-31, 2010. It was the first time that the ACWF had invited a non- governmental women＇s delegation from India to visit. During the visit, Meng Xiaosi, Vice-President and Member of the Secretariat of the All-China Women＇s Federation, met members of the delegation. In Beijing, the delegation visited Wuzhou Women＇s Hospital and the grass-roots women＇s federation at Shijia Hutong, in Dongcheng District. In Shanghai, the delegation visited the Employment Promotion Center in Baoshan District. The guests also attended a work-experience- exchange meeting with Baoshan District Women＇s Federation, and they visited a pear orchard, the Shanghai Lilan Fashion Accessories Manufacturing Co., Ltd, and the Expo 2010 Shanghai China.     

晋中妇联庆三八“十业百星”颁奖晚会举行

Jinzhong （in North China＇s Shanxi Province） Women＇s Federation on February 24 held an evening party to celebrate International Women＇s Day （on March 8）. During the party, 100 women received awards for their contributions to promoting the city＇s political, economic, cultural and social development.     

全国妇联和联合国儿基会赴云南实地调研

Officials from the Legal Department of the All-China Women＇s Federation （ACWF）, the United Nations Children＇s Fund （UNICEF）, and the women＇s federations in Tianjin （municipality） and Hubei, Jiangsu and Yunnan provinces visited Huaning County, Yuxi, a city in Yunnan Province, on January 9, 2014. The purpose of the trip was to allow officials to see firsthand how the 12388 hotline （used to protect women＇s rights and interests） operates, and to visit local women＇s homes and various cmnmunity-based child- protection projects.

FOR the last three years I have been working on two big projects about women around the world. One is Mothers of the World, and the other one is Working Women of the World. So I travel to different parts of the world to meet Women and photograph them. I knew from the start that I would be able to see China only very superficially, because there was no way I could spend more than two to three weeks there. I therefore

I＇m interested in your magazine, but there＇s no way for me to get copies of it where I live. I see that your website has an electronic version of the magazine, but it＇s only one issue, it＇s a few months old, it＇s difficult to read （because you have to wait for the pages to enlarge）, and you have to click on the pages to flip them back to the table of contents or reload the whole page. It＇s extremely aggravating and not at all easy for readers to use.     

Women and the Environment: Declaration Encourages Active Participation

JUNE 5, 1994 has been mandated World Environment Day. On this day the first meeting on Women and the Environment in China was held in Beijing and the Declaration of Chinese Women on Environment was established. According to the declaration, environmental pollution and the destruction of the ecology have posed a serious threat to the survival of the human race. It has become a great issue of common concern. The functions of women in procreation and social development are directly affected by the deterioration of the environment. It is the common interest of the populations of the world to protect the environment. The declaration notes that Chinese women are greatly concerned about the environmental conditions of their     

河北省石家庄市关注儿童健康成长

Sun Ruibin, Secretary of the Shijiazhuang （a city in Hebei Province） Municipal CPC （Communist Party of China） Committee, leaders from the Shijiazhuang Municipal Government, Education Bureau and the women＇s federation, on May 29 made a special tour of Chang＇an District No. 1 Kindergarten, to celebrate International Children＇s Day （June I） with the kids.     

“1＋4妇女维权服务模式”维护妇女权益

Alongside the rapid development of China＇s modernization and deepening economic and political reforms, the Women＇s Legal Aid Center of the All- China Women＇s Federation （ACWF） has achieved great progress in protecting women＇s rights and interests. How？ It has been offering better services and legal aid to women. At the same time, many new problems and difficulties have emerged.     

全国妇联、国务院妇儿工委办公窒召开反家暴立法研讨会

The All-China Women＇s Federation （ACWF） and the National Working Committee on Children and Women （NWCCW） under the State Council plan to organize experts, who study laws and regulations, to study key and difficult issues related to the promotion of anti-domestic violence legislation. In conjunction with the 14th International Day for the Elimination of Violence Against Women （on November 25, 2013）, the organizations hosted a seminar to discuss anti-domestic violence legislation in Beijing. Organizers invited experts from the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences, Peking University, China University of Political Science and Law, and the Women＇s Studies Institutes of China, to ACWF＇s headquarters to discuss issues related to the promotion of anti-domestic violence legislation.

Dear Women of China, I＇ve had the pleasure of having dinner with my Chinese girlfriend＇s family a few times in the past, but each time they urged me to drink lots of alcohol. I understand that it＇s their way of welcoming and encouraging me to feel comfortable around them, but I＇m not very fond of drinking. However, every time I try to refuse a drink, they keep insisting that I drink anyway, until I give up trying to convince them. Now, I＇m uneasy about having more dinners with them.
