The quasi-score function, as defined by Wedderburn (1974) and McCullagh (1983) and so on, is a linear function of observations.
The generalized quasi-score function introduced in this paper is a linear function of some unbiased basis functions, where
the unbiased basis functions may be some linear functions of the observations or not, and can be easily constructed by the
meaning of the parameters such as mean and median and so on. The generalized quasi-likelihood estimate obtained by such a
generalized quasi-score function is consistent and has an asymptotically normal distribution. As a result, the optimum generalized
quasi-score is obtained and a method to construct the optimum unbiased basis function is introduced. In order to construct
the potential function, a conservative generalized estimating function is defined. By conservative, a potential function for
the projected score has many properties of a log-likelihood function. Finally, some examples are given to illustrate the theoretical
results.

We discuss a general application of categorical data analysis to mutations along the HIV genome. We consider a multidimensional table for several positions at the same time. Due to the complexity of the multidimensional table, we may collapse it by pooling some categories. However, the association between the remaining variables may not be the same as before collapsing. We discuss the collapsibility of tables and the change in the meaning of parameters after collapsing categories. We also address this problem with a log-linear model. We present a parameterization with the consensus output as the reference cell as is appropriate to explain genomic mutations in HIV. We also consider five null hypotheses and some classical methods to address them. We illustrate methods for six positions along the HIV genome, through consideration of all triples of positions. 相似文献

In a general parametric setup, a multivariate regression model is considered when responses may be missing at random while the explanatory variables and covariates are completely observed. Asymptotic optimality properties of maximum likelihood estimators for such models are linked to the Fisher information matrix for the parameters. It is shown that the information matrix is well defined for the missing-at-random model and that it plays the same role as in the complete-data linear models. Applications of the methodologic developments in hypothesis-testing problems, without any imputation of missing data, are illustrated. Some simulation results comparing the proposed method with Rubin's multiple imputation method are presented. 相似文献

The weighted likelihood is a generalization of the likelihood designed to borrow strength from similar populations while making minimal assumptions. If the weights are properly chosen, the maximum weighted likelihood estimate may perform better than the maximum likelihood estimate (MLE). In a previous article, the minimum averaged mean squared error (MAMSE) weights are proposed and simulations show that they allow to outperform the MLE in many cases. In this paper, we study the asymptotic properties of the MAMSE weights. In particular, we prove that the MAMSE-weighted mixture of empirical distribution functions converges uniformly to the target distribution and that the maximum weighted likelihood estimate is strongly consistent. A short simulation illustrates the use of bootstrap in this context. 相似文献

AbstractIn a 2-step monotone missing dataset drawn from a multivariate normal population, T2-type test statistic (similar to Hotelling’s T2 test statistic) and likelihood ratio (LR) are often used for the test for a mean vector. In complete data, Hotelling’s T2 test and LR test are equivalent, however T2-type test and LR test are not equivalent in the 2-step monotone missing dataset. Then we interest which statistic is reasonable with relation to power. In this paper, we derive asymptotic power function of both statistics under a local alternative and obtain an explicit form for difference in asymptotic power function. Furthermore, under several parameter settings, we compare LR and T2-type test numerically by using difference in empirical power and in asymptotic power function. Summarizing obtained results, we recommend applying LR test for testing a mean vector. 相似文献

In this paper we propose a new robust estimator in the context of two-stage estimation methods directed towards the correction of endogeneity problems in linear models. Our estimator is a combination of Huber estimators for each of the two stages, with scale corrections implemented using preliminary median absolute deviation estimators. In this way we obtain a two-stage estimation procedure that is an interesting compromise between concerns of simplicity of calculation, robustness and efficiency. This method compares well with other possible estimators such as two-stage least-squares (2SLS) and two-stage least-absolute-deviations (2SLAD), asymptotically and in finite samples. It is notably interesting to deal with contamination affecting more heavily the distribution tails than a few outliers and not losing as much efficiency as other popular estimators in that case, e.g. under normality. An additional originality resides in the fact that we deal with random regressors and asymmetric errors, which is not often the case in the literature on robust estimators. 相似文献

This paper presents a new Laplacian approximation to the posterior density of η = g(θ). It has a simpler analytical form than that described by Leonard et al. (1989). The approximation derived by Leonard et al. requires a conditional information matrix Rη to be positive definite for every fixed η. However, in many cases, not all Rη are positive definite. In such cases, the computations of their approximations fail, since the approximation cannot be normalized. However, the new approximation may be modified so that the corresponding conditional information matrix can be made positive definite for every fixed η. In addition, a Bayesian procedure for contingency-table model checking is provided. An example of cross-classification between the educational level of a wife and fertility-planning status of couples is used for explanation. Various Laplacian approximations are computed and compared in this example and in an example of public school expenditures in the context of Bayesian analysis of the multiparameter Fisher-Behrens problem. 相似文献

We propose a study of asymptotic properties in an extension of the Nelder-Wedderburn generalized linear models (GLM) and we apply the results to a model choice in Mandel's models of analysis of variance (ANOVA). This study concerns the behaviour of the maximum likelihood estimators (MLE) when the scale parameter of the GLM tends to zero. Finally, to allow the use of our results, we give some specifications of this limit in three cases of the GLM. 相似文献

In this paper, the robustness of the least distances (LD) estimate in multivariate linear models, as defined by Bai, Chen, Miao and Rao (1990), is discussed in terms of the influence function as well as the breakdown point. The LD estimate is shown to be more robust than the least squares (LS) estimate. The robustness of the LD is similar to that of the least absolute deviations (LAD) estimate, a well studied robust estimate in the univariate case. In particular, if there are no outliers in the design matrices, the breakdown point of the LD estimate reaches the highest value, 1/2. 相似文献

We consider a regression of y on x given by a pair of mean and variance functions with a parameter vector θ to be estimated that also appears in the distribution of the regressor variable x. The estimation of θ is based on an extended quasi-score (QS) function. We show that the QS estimator is optimal within a wide class of estimators based on linear-in-y unbiased estimating functions. Of special interest is the case where the distribution of x depends only on a subvector α of θ, which may be considered a nuisance parameter. In general, α must be estimated simultaneously together with the rest of θ, but there are cases where α can be pre-estimated. A major application of this model is the classical measurement error model, where the corrected score (CS) estimator is an alternative to the QS estimator. We derive conditions under which the QS estimator is strictly more efficient than the CS estimator. 相似文献

In the mid-1950s S.N. Roy and his students contributed two landmark articles to the contingency table literature [Roy, S.N., Kastenbaum, M.A., 1956. On the hypothesis of no “interaction” in a multiway contingency table. Ann. Math. Statist. 27, 749–757; Roy, S.N., Mitra, S.K., 1956. An introduction to some nonparametric generalizations of analysis of variance and multivariate analysis. Biometrika 43, 361–376]. The first article generalized concepts of interaction from 2×2×2 contingency tables to three-way tables of arbitrary size and to larger tables. In the second article, which is the source of our primary focus, various notions of independence were clarified for three-way contingency tables, Roy's union–intersection test was applied to construct chi-squared tests of hypotheses about the structure of such tables, and the chi-squared statistics were shown not to depend on the distinction between response and explanatory variables. This work pre-dates by many years later developments that expressed such results in the context of loglinear models. It pre-dates by a quarter century the development of graphical models. We summarize the main results in these key articles and discuss the connection between them and the later developments of loglinear modeling and of graphical modeling. We also mention ways in which these later developments have themselves been further generalized. 相似文献

This paper investigates statistical issues that arise in interlaboratory studies known as Key Comparisons when one has to link several comparisons to or through existing studies. An approach to the analysis of such a data is proposed using Gaussian distributions with heterogeneous variances. We develop conditions for the set of sufficient statistics to be complete and for the uniqueness of uniformly minimum variance unbiased estimators (UMVUE) of the contrast parametric functions. New procedures are derived for estimating these functions with estimates of their uncertainty. These estimates lead to associated confidence intervals for the laboratories (or studies) contrasts. Several examples demonstrate statistical inference for contrasts based on linkage through the pilot laboratories. Monte Carlo simulation results on performance of approximate confidence intervals are also reported. 相似文献

In this paper, we consider how to incorporate quantile information to improve estimator efficiency for regression model with missing covariates. We combine the quantile information with least-squares normal equations and construct an unbiased estimating equations (EEs). The lack of smoothness of the objective EEs is overcome by replacing them with smooth approximations. The maximum smoothed empirical likelihood (MSEL) estimators are established based on inverse probability weighted (IPW) smoothed EEs and their asymptotic properties are studied under some regular conditions. Moreover, we develop two novel testing procedures for the underlying model. The finite-sample performance of the proposed methodology is examined by simulation studies. A real example is used to illustrate our methods. 相似文献

In split-plot experiments, estimation of unknown parameters by generalized least squares (GLS), as opposed to ordinary least squares (OLS), is required, owing to the existence of whole- and subplot errors. However, estimating the error variances is often necessary for GLS. Restricted maximum likelihood (REML) is an established method for estimating the error variances, and its benefits have been highlighted in many previous studies. This article proposes a new two-step residual-based approach for estimating error variances. Results of numerical simulations indicate that the proposed method performs sufficiently well to be considered as a suitable alternative to REML. 相似文献

The recursive least squares technique is often extended with exponential forgetting as a tool for parameter estimation in time-varying systems. The distribution of the resulting parameter estimates is, however, unknown when the forgetting factor is less than one. In this paper an approximative expression for bias of the recursively obtained parameter estimates in a time-invariant AR( na ) process with arbitrary noise is given, showing that the bias is non-zero and giving bounds on the approximation errors. Simulations confirm the approximation expressions. 相似文献
