The Boat to Redemption is author Su Tong＇s last novel. It earned Su the Man Asian Literary Prize in November 2009. Established in 2007, the award is the most prestigious prize for literature in Asia.

It was published after Dictionary, and Guo won the 2007 Orange Fiction prize for the novel. The Yinchuan Women＇s Federation （in Northwest China＇s Ningxia Hui Autonomous Region）, in recent years, has scored outstanding achievements in improving women and children＇s lives, and in encouraging women to participate in the management and decision- making of social affairs.To protect women and children＇s legal rights and interests, the federation has taken the lead in establishing the home for women and women＇s rights-protection work station, and in formulating the system, in which lawyers take turns to handle （for free） women＇s letters and visits.

The “special group” for protecting women and children＇s rights and interests, and for building peaceful families, in North China＇s Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region held, in Hohhot （capital of the region） on July 7, a working conference on promoting the group＇s member units＇ roles in protecting women and children＇s rights and interests, and in building peaceful families.     

Federation Promotes Women＇s Handicrafts Brand for Charity

Mother＇s Art was established by Sichuan Women＇s Federation in October. The Mother＇s Art project is intended to spur development of the craft industry in Sichuan Province. Under the project, the women＇s federation provides financial assistance to underprivileged women, so they can acquire the skills needed to make crafts and, in turn, make money to care for their families. The project benefits women and children. Each woman who works in the province＇s craft industry, and each business that sells crafts made by the province＇s women, will join the project.     

Educating Juvenile Offenders

Leaders of Zaozhuang （a city in East China＇s Shandong Province） Women＇s Federation visit orphans and disabled children in Zaozhuang Children＇s Welfare Office. The hospital of the 22nd Regiment of the Second Agricultural Division of the Xinjiang （in Northwest China） Production and Construction Corps, in Xinjiang＇s Hejing County, recently distributed, among doctors and nurses, a handbook to illustrate the importance of working in the frontier.     

联合国儿基会驻华代表考察宜昌市科学育儿指导中心

Gillian Mellsop, UNICEF＇s Representative to China, visited a children＇s center in Yichang （a city in Central China＇s Hubei Province） on August 28, 2014. During her visit, Mellsop learned about the center＇s development and the services with the technical support of a project jointly by UNICEF and the All-China Women＇s Federation. The project has helped families learn about early childhood development, children＇s care and parenting skills.     

山东省莒县颁布实施2014年度十件为妇女儿童办实事项目

The Office of Juxian County （in East China＇s Shandong Province）＇s Party （Communist Party of China） Committee and the Office of Juxian County People＇s Government in early April promulgated 10 projects to improve women and children＇s livelihoods in 2014. The projects （to be implemented throughout the rest of the year） include.
