With a population of 1,250,500 （as of 2000）, China＇s ethnic Kazakhs live mainly in the Ill Kazakh Autonomous Prefecture and the Mori and Barkol Kazakh autonomous counties in Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region. A small population of Kazakhs lives in Gansu and Qinghai provinces.

Song Xiuyan, Vice- President and First Member of the Secretariat of the All- China Women＇s Federation （ACWF）, visited earthquakestricken Yushu, a Tibetan Autonomous Prefecture in northwestern China＇s Qinghai Province, on May 27.

“美丽中国爱心行”走进玉树 Led by Chen Xiaoxia, Secretary-General of the China Children and Teenagers＇ Foundation （CCTF）, a group from the foundation＇s ＂Love Travel in China＂ project began a two-day visit to Yushu Tibetan Prefecture, in northwestern China＇s Qinghai Province, on September 24, 2013. The prefecture was rocked by a 7.1-magnitude earthquake on April 14, 2010.

Adevastating earthquake struck Yushu Tibetan Autonomous Prefecture, in northwestern .China＇s Qinghai Province, on April 14. The magnitude-7.1 earthquake caused extensive damage to property and shattered countless lives. The situation facing tens of thousands of victims, especially children, has caught the attention of people across the nation.     

山东省莒县颁布实施2014年度十件为妇女儿童办实事项目

The Office of Juxian County （in East China＇s Shandong Province）＇s Party （Communist Party of China） Committee and the Office of Juxian County People＇s Government in early April promulgated 10 projects to improve women and children＇s livelihoods in 2014. The projects （to be implemented throughout the rest of the year） include.     

Educating Juvenile Offenders

Leaders of Zaozhuang （a city in East China＇s Shandong Province） Women＇s Federation visit orphans and disabled children in Zaozhuang Children＇s Welfare Office. The hospital of the 22nd Regiment of the Second Agricultural Division of the Xinjiang （in Northwest China） Production and Construction Corps, in Xinjiang＇s Hejing County, recently distributed, among doctors and nurses, a handbook to illustrate the importance of working in the frontier.

The Bureau of Human Resources and Social Security of Shanghe County （in Ji＇nan, capital of East China＇s Shandong Province） in 2013 put a lot of effort into fulfilling the targets of women＇s development, as prescribed in China＇s 12th Five- Year （2011-2015） Plan. To promote women＇s development, the bureau did the following to help women find work and/or start a business：     

纪念首部婚姻法颁布60周年大会

A seminar was held on April 28, 2010, in Beijing to mark the 60th anniversary （May 1, 1950） of the promulgation of the Marriage Law of the People＇s Republic of China. Chen Zhili, Vice- Chairperson of the Standing Committee of the National People＇s Congress and President of the All-ChJna Women＇s Federation, spoke about the significant role the Marriage Law has played in Chinese women＇s liberation.     

Anti-drug Activities Held

The China Meets Egypt activity, organized by Beijing Women＇s Federation and the Embassy of the Arab Republic of Egypt, was held on October 25 in the Haidian Women and Children＇s Activity Center in Beijing. Ma Lanxia, President of Beijing Women＇s Federation （BWF）, Zhou Zhijun, BWF＇s Vice-President, Magdy Amer, Egypt＇s Ambassador to China, and Karima Nasser AI-Saadi, wife of Abdullah Saleh AI-Saadi, the Ambassador of the Sultanate of Oman to China, attended. Nearly 300 people, including students from Egypt and residents in Haidian District, participated.
