The semiparametric accelerated failure time (AFT) model is not as widely used as the Cox relative risk model due to computational difficulties. Recent developments in least squares estimation and induced smoothing estimating equations for censored data provide promising tools to make the AFT models more attractive in practice. For multivariate AFT models, we propose a generalized estimating equations (GEE) approach, extending the GEE to censored data. The consistency of the regression coefficient estimator is robust to misspecification of working covariance, and the efficiency is higher when the working covariance structure is closer to the truth. The marginal error distributions and regression coefficients are allowed to be unique for each margin or partially shared across margins as needed. The initial estimator is a rank-based estimator with Gehan’s weight, but obtained from an induced smoothing approach with computational ease. The resulting estimator is consistent and asymptotically normal, with variance estimated through a multiplier resampling method. In a large scale simulation study, our estimator was up to three times as efficient as the estimateor that ignores the within-cluster dependence, especially when the within-cluster dependence was strong. The methods were applied to the bivariate failure times data from a diabetic retinopathy study.  相似文献

The use of bivariate distributions plays a fundamental role in survival and reliability studies. In this paper, we consider a location scale model for bivariate survival times based on the proposal of a copula to model the dependence of bivariate survival data. For the proposed model, we consider inferential procedures based on maximum likelihood. Gains in efficiency from bivariate models are also examined in the censored data setting. For different parameter settings, sample sizes and censoring percentages, various simulation studies are performed and compared to the performance of the bivariate regression model for matched paired survival data. Sensitivity analysis methods such as local and total influence are presented and derived under three perturbation schemes. The martingale marginal and the deviance marginal residual measures are used to check the adequacy of the model. Furthermore, we propose a new measure which we call modified deviance component residual. The methodology in the paper is illustrated on a lifetime data set for kidney patients.  相似文献

The article develops a semiparametric estimation method for the bivariate count data regression model. We develop a series expansion approach in which dependence between count variables is introduced by means of stochastically related unobserved heterogeneity components, and in which, unlike existing commonly used models, positive as well as negative correlations are allowed. Extensions that accommodate excess zeros, censored data, and multivariate generalizations are also given. Monte Carlo experiments and an empirical application to tobacco use confirms that the model performs well relative to existing bivariate models, in terms of various statistical criteria and in capturing the range of correlation among dependent variables. In this paper, we propose to use a special class of bivariate frailty models to study dependent censored data. The proposed models are closely linked to Archimedean copula models. We give sufficient conditions for the identifiability of this type of competing risks models. The proposed conditions are derived based on a property shared by Archimedean copula models and satisfied by several well‐known bivariate frailty models. Compared with the models studied by Heckman and Honoré and Abbring and van den Berg, our models are more restrictive but can be identified with a discrete (even finite) covariate. Under our identifiability conditions, expectation–maximization (EM) algorithm provides us with consistent estimates of the unknown parameters. Simulation studies have shown that our estimation procedure works quite well. We fit a dependent censored leukaemia data set using the Clayton copula model and end our paper with some discussions. © 2014 Board of the Foundation of the Scandinavian Journal of Statistics  相似文献

In this article, we propose a new empirical likelihood method for linear regression analysis with a right censored response variable. The method is based on the synthetic data approach for censored linear regression analysis. A log-empirical likelihood ratio test statistic for the entire regression coefficients vector is developed and we show that it converges to a standard chi-squared distribution. The proposed method can also be used to make inferences about linear combinations of the regression coefficients. Moreover, the proposed empirical likelihood ratio provides a way to combine different normal equations derived from various synthetic response variables. Maximizing this empirical likelihood ratio yields a maximum empirical likelihood estimator which is asymptotically equivalent to the solution of the estimating equation that are optimal linear combination of the original normal equations. It improves the estimation efficiency. The method is illustrated by some Monte Carlo simulation studies as well as a real example.  相似文献

ABSTRACT

This note presents an approximation to multivariate regression models which is obtained from a first-order series expansion of the multivariate link function. The proposed approach yields a variable-addition approximation of regression models that enables a multivariate generalization of the well-known goodness-of-link specification test, available for univariate generalized linear models. Application of this general methodology is illustrated with models of multinomial discrete choice and multivariate fractional data, in which context it is shown to lead to well-established approximation and testing procedures.  相似文献

The modeling and analysis of lifetime data in which the main endpoints are the times when an event of interest occurs is of great interest in medical studies. In these studies, it is common that two or more lifetimes associated with the same unit such as the times to deterioration levels or the times to reaction to a treatment in pairs of organs like lungs, kidneys, eyes or ears. In medical applications, it is also possible that a cure rate is present and needed to be modeled with lifetime data with long-term survivors. This paper presented a comparative study under a Bayesian approach among some existing continuous and discrete bivariate distributions such as the bivariate exponential distributions and the bivariate geometric distributions in presence of cure rate, censored data and covariates. In presence of lifetimes related to cured patients, it is assumed standard mixture cure rate models in the data analysis. The posterior summaries of interest are obtained using Markov Chain Monte Carlo methods. To illustrate the proposed methodology two real medical data sets are considered.  相似文献

This paper discusses multivariate interval‐censored failure time data observed when several correlated survival times of interest exist and only interval censoring is available for each survival time. Such data occur in many fields, for instance, studies of the development of physical symptoms or diseases in several organ systems. A marginal inference approach was used to create a linear transformation model and applied to bivariate interval‐censored data arising from a diabetic retinopathy study and an AIDS study. The results of simulation studies that were conducted to evaluate the performance of the presented approach suggest that it performs well. It is well known that many data, such as the financial or demographic data, exhibit asymmetric distributions. In recent years, researchers have concentrated their efforts to model this asymmetry. Skew normal model is one of such models that are skew and yet possess many properties of the normal model. In this paper, a new multivariate skew model is proposed, along with its statistical properties. It includes the multivariate normal distribution and multivariate skew normal distribution as special cases. The quadratic form of this random vector follows a χ2 distribution. The roles of the parameters in the model are investigated using contour plots of bivariate densities.  相似文献

As is the case of many studies, the data collected are limited and an exact value is recorded only if it falls within an interval range. Hence, the responses can be either left, interval or right censored. Linear (and nonlinear) regression models are routinely used to analyze these types of data and are based on normality assumptions for the errors terms. However, those analyzes might not provide robust inference when the normality assumptions are questionable. In this article, we develop a Bayesian framework for censored linear regression models by replacing the Gaussian assumptions for the random errors with scale mixtures of normal (SMN) distributions. The SMN is an attractive class of symmetric heavy-tailed densities that includes the normal, Student-t, Pearson type VII, slash and the contaminated normal distributions, as special cases. Using a Bayesian paradigm, an efficient Markov chain Monte Carlo algorithm is introduced to carry out posterior inference. A new hierarchical prior distribution is suggested for the degrees of freedom parameter in the Student-t distribution. The likelihood function is utilized to compute not only some Bayesian model selection measures but also to develop Bayesian case-deletion influence diagnostics based on the q-divergence measure. The proposed Bayesian methods are implemented in the R package BayesCR. The newly developed procedures are illustrated with applications using real and simulated data.  相似文献

For the first time, we introduce a generalized form of the exponentiated generalized gamma distribution [Cordeiro et al. The exponentiated generalized gamma distribution with application to lifetime data, J. Statist. Comput. Simul. 81 (2011), pp. 827–842.] that is the baseline for the log-exponentiated generalized gamma regression model. The new distribution can accommodate increasing, decreasing, bathtub- and unimodal-shaped hazard functions. A second advantage is that it includes classical distributions reported in the lifetime literature as special cases. We obtain explicit expressions for the moments of the baseline distribution of the new regression model. The proposed model can be applied to censored data since it includes as sub-models several widely known regression models. It therefore can be used more effectively in the analysis of survival data. We obtain maximum likelihood estimates for the model parameters by considering censored data. We show that our extended regression model is very useful by means of two applications to real data.  相似文献

A bivariate generalized linear model is developed as a mixture distribution with one component of the mixture being discrete with probability mass only at the origin. The use of the proposed model is illustrated by analyzing local area meteorological measurements with constant correlation structure that incorporates predictor variables. The Monte Carlo study is performed to evaluate the inferential efficiency of model parameters for two types of true models. These results suggest that the estimates of regression parameters are consistent and the efficiency of the inference increases for the proposed model for ρ≥0.50 especially in larger samples. As an illustration of a bivariate generalized linear model, we analyze a precipitation monitoring data of adjacent local stations for Tokyo and Yokohama.  相似文献

The authors consider the estimation of regression parameters in the context of a class of generalized proportional hazards models, termed linear transformation models, in the presence of interval‐censored data. They present an estimating equation approach whose good performance is demonstrated through simulations and which they illustrate in a few concrete cases.  相似文献

In this paper, the variable selection strategies (criteria) are thoroughly discussed and their use in various survival models is investigated. The asymptotic efficiency property, in the sense of Shibata Ann Stat 8: 147-164, 1980, of a class of variable selection strategies which includes the AIC and all criteria equivalent to it, is established for a general class of survival models, such as parametric frailty or transformation models and accelerated failure time models, under minimum conditions. Furthermore, a multiple imputations method is proposed which is found to successfully handle censored observations and constitutes a competitor to existing methods in the literature. A number of real and simulated data are used for illustrative purposes.  相似文献

In this article, we compare three residuals based on the deviance component in generalised log-gamma regression models with censored observations. For different parameter settings, sample sizes and censoring percentages, various simulation studies are performed and the empirical distribution of each residual is displayed and compared with the standard normal distribution. For all cases studied, the empirical distributions of the proposed residuals are in general symmetric around zero, but only a martingale-type residual presented negligible kurtosis for the majority of the cases studied. These studies suggest that the residual analysis usually performed in normal linear regression models can be straightforwardly extended for the martingale-type residual in generalised log-gamma regression models with censored data. A lifetime data set is analysed under log-gamma regression models and a model checking based on the martingale-type residual is performed.  相似文献

We develop a test procedure to test the hypothesis that the distribution of the lifetime is bivariate exponential of Marshall and Olkin against that it is bivariate increasing failure rate average when the sample is of the type univariate or bivariate randomly censored.  相似文献

Abstract.  For the analysis with recurrent events, we propose a generalization of the accelerated failure time model to allow for evolving covariate effects. These so-called accelerated recurrence time models postulate that the time to expected recurrence frequency, upon transformation, is a linear function of covariates with frequency-dependent coefficients. This modelling strategy shares the same spirit as quantile regression. An estimation and inference procedure is developed by generalizing the celebrated Powell's ( J. Econometrics 25, 1984, 303; J. Econometrics 32, 1986, 143) estimator for censored quantile regression. Consistency and asymptotic normality of the proposed estimator are established. An algorithm is devised to attain good computational efficiency. Simulations demonstrate that this proposal performs well under practical settings. This methodology is illustrated in an application to the well-known bladder cancer study.  相似文献

In this paper, we study M-estimators of regression parameters in semiparametric linear models for censored data. A class of consistent and asymptotically normal M-estimators is constructed. A resampling method is developed for the estimation of the asymptotic covariance matrix of the estimators.  相似文献

In this paper, a unified maximum marginal likelihood estimation procedure is proposed for the analysis of right censored data using general partially linear varying-coefficient transformation models (GPLVCTM), which are flexible enough to include many survival models as its special cases. Unknown functional coefficients in the models are approximated by cubic B-spline polynomial. We estimate B-spline coefficients and regression parameters by maximizing marginal likelihood function. One advantage of this procedure is that it is free of both baseline and censoring distribution. Through simulation studies and a real data application (VA data from the Veteran's Administration Lung Cancer Study Clinical Trial), we illustrate that the proposed estimation procedure is accurate, stable and practical.  相似文献

In this paper we show that fully likelihood-based estimation and comparison of multivariate stochastic volatility (SV) models can be easily performed via a freely available Bayesian software called WinBUGS. Moreover, we introduce to the literature several new specifications that are natural extensions to certain existing models, one of which allows for time-varying correlation coefficients. Ideas are illustrated by fitting, to a bivariate time series data of weekly exchange rates, nine multivariate SV models, including the specifications with Granger causality in volatility, time-varying correlations, heavy-tailed error distributions, additive factor structure, and multiplicative factor structure. Empirical results suggest that the best specifications are those that allow for time-varying correlation coefficients.  相似文献
