This work is devoted to the problem of change-point parameter estimation in the case of the presence of multiple changes in the intensity function of the Poisson process. It is supposed that the observations are independent inhomogeneous Poisson processes with the same intensity function and this intensity function has two jumps separated by a known quantity. The asymptotic behavior of the maximum-likelihood and Bayesian estimators are described. It is shown that these estimators are consistent, have different limit distributions, the moments converge and that the Bayesian estimators are asymptotically efficient. The numerical simulations illustrate the obtained results.  相似文献

We apply the Abramson principle to define adaptive kernel estimators for the intensity function of a spatial point process. We derive asymptotic expansions for the bias and variance under the regime that n independent copies of a simple point process in Euclidean space are superposed. In this article, we propose a nonparametric approach for estimating the intensity function of temporal point processes based on kernel estimators. In particular, we use asymmetric kernel estimators characterized by the gamma distribution, in order to describe features of observed point patterns adequately. Some characteristics of these estimators are analyzed and discussed both through simulated results and applications to real data from different seismic catalogs.  相似文献

Abstract. Motivated by applications of Poisson processes for modelling periodic time‐varying phenomena, we study a semi‐parametric estimator of the period of cyclic intensity function of a non‐homogeneous Poisson process. There are no parametric assumptions on the intensity function which is treated as an infinite dimensional nuisance parameter. We propose a new family of estimators for the period of the intensity function, address the identifiability and consistency issues and present simulations which demonstrate good performance of the proposed estimation procedure in practice. We compare our method to competing methods on synthetic data and apply it to a real data set from a call center.  相似文献

We introduce new estimators of the inhomogeneous K-function and the pair correlation function of a spatial point process as well as the cross K-function and the cross pair correlation function of a bivariate spatial point process under the assumption of second-order intensity-reweighted stationarity. These estimators rely on a ‘global’ normalisation factor which depends on an aggregation of the intensity function, while the existing estimators depend ‘locally’ on the intensity function at the individual observed points. The advantages of our new global estimators over the existing local estimators are demonstrated by theoretical considerations and a simulation study.  相似文献

Capture–recapture processes are biased samplings of recurrent event processes, which can be modelled by the Andersen–Gill intensity model. The intensity function is assumed to be a function of time, covariates and a parameter. We derive the maximum likelihood estimators of both the parameter and the population size and show the consistency and asymptotic normality of the estimators for both recapture and removal studies. The estimators are asymptotically efficient and their theoretical asymptotic relative efficiencies with respect to the existing estimators of Yip and co-workers can be as large as ∞. The variance estimation and a numerical example are also presented.  相似文献

We consider the problem of estimating unknown parameters, reliability function and hazard function of a two parameter bathtub-shaped distribution on the basis of progressive type-II censored sample. The maximum likelihood estimators and Bayes estimators are derived for two unknown parameters, reliability function and hazard function. The Bayes estimators are obtained against squared error, LINEX and entropy loss functions. Also, using the Lindley approximation method we have obtained approximate Bayes estimators against these loss functions. Some numerical comparisons are made among various proposed estimators in terms of their mean square error values and some specific recommendations are given. Finally, two data sets are analyzed to illustrate the proposed methods.  相似文献

In this paper, the problem of estimating the mean vector under non-negative constraints on location vector of the multivariate normal distribution is investigated. The value of the wavelet threshold based on Stein''s unbiased risk estimators is calculated for the shrinkage estimator in restricted parameter space. We suppose that covariance matrix is unknown and we find the dominant class of shrinkage estimators under Balance loss function. The performance evaluation of the proposed class of estimators is checked through a simulation study by using risk and average mean square error values.  相似文献

Abstract. We consider the properties of the local polynomial estimators of a counting process intensity function and its derivatives. By expressing the local polynomial estimators in a kernel smoothing form via effective kernels, we show that the bias and variance of the estimators at boundary points are of the same magnitude as at interior points and therefore the local polynomial estimators in the context of intensity estimation also enjoy the automatic boundary correction property as they do in other contexts such as regression. The asymptotically optimal bandwidths and optimal kernel functions are obtained through the asymptotic expressions of the mean square error of the estimators. For practical purpose, we suggest an effective and easy‐to‐calculate data‐driven bandwidth selector. Simulation studies are carried out to assess the performance of the local polynomial estimators and the proposed bandwidth selector. The estimators and the bandwidth selector are applied to estimate the rate of aftershocks of the Sichuan earthquake and the rate of the Personal Emergency Link calls in Hong Kong.  相似文献

The power law process, a nonhomogeneous Poisson process with intensity function µ(t) = (β/θ)(t/θ) , is frequently used to model the occurence of events in time. Often, an important quantity is the value of the intensity function at the current time, that is, the time when data collection is ceased. In this article, the problem of estimating this quantity is addressed when the data are time truncated, that is, when data collection is stopped at a predetermined time T. The class of multiples of the conditional MLE is suggested, and some members are analyzed. In addition, the class of estimators formed by first performing a preliminary test of significance on the parameter β is analyzed. The local polynomial methods and martingale estimating equations are used to develop closed form estimators of the intensity function and its derivatives for multiplicative counting process models. The consistency and asymptotic normality of the estimators are established. The estimator generalizes that proposed by Ramlau-Hansen (1983 Ramlau-Hansen , H. ( 1983 ). Smoothing counting process intensities by means of kernel function . Ann. Statist. 11 ( 2 ): 453466 . [Google Scholar]) with a smaller bias than the Ramlau-Hansen intensity estimator. The derivative estimators give smoother estimates than the Ramlau-Hansen derivative estimators. This paper proposes an estimator of the unknown size of a target population to which has been added a planted population of known size. The augmented population is observed for a fixed time and individuals are sighted according to independent Poisson processes. These processes may be time-inhomogeneous, but, within each population, the intensity function is the same for all individuals. When the two populations have the same intensity function, known results on factorial series distributions suggest that the proposed estimator is approximately unbiased and provide a useful estimator of standard deviation. Except for short sampling times, computational results confirm that the proposed population-size estimator is nearly unbiased, and indicate that it gives a better overall performance than existing estimators in the literature. The robustness of this performance is investigated in situations in which it cannot be assumed that the behaviour of the plants matches that of individuals from the target population.  相似文献

The finite distributed lag models include highly correlated variables as well as lagged and unlagged values of the same variables. Some problems are faced for this model when applying the ordinary least squares (OLS) method or econometric models such as Almon and Koyck models. The primary aim of this study is to compare performances of alternative estimators to the OLS estimator defined by combining the Almon estimator with some estimators using Almon (1965) data. A simulation study with different model parameters is performed and the estimators are compared according to the root mean square error (RMSE) and prediction mean square error (PMSE).  相似文献

The periodic multiplicative intensity model is considered. A new bootstrap method for non stationary counting processes which intensity function has some periodicity properties is presented. Its main advantage is that it does not destroy the temporal order and the original periodicity of the underlying counting process. The proposed algorithm is used to construct a bootstrap version of the maximum likelihood hazard function estimator. The consistency of the bootstrap method is shown. A possible modification of the proposed bootstrap method is discussed. The bootstrap simultaneous confidence intervals for the hazard function are presented. Under the weakly singular Gauss-Markov model, the class of linearly admissible estimators for the expectation of the observable random vector with respect to the mean square error criterion is considered. This paper considers the problem of estimating the autoregressive parameter in discretely observed Ornstein–Uhlenbeck processes. Two consistent estimators are proposed: one obtained by maximizing a kernel-based likelihood function, and another by minimizing a Kolmogorov-type distance from independence. After establishing the consistency of these estimators, their finite-sample performance and possible normality in large samples, is investigated by means of extensive simulations. Abstract.  Recurrent event data are largely characterized by the rate function but smoothing techniques for estimating the rate function have never been rigorously developed or studied in statistical literature. This paper considers the moment and least squares methods for estimating the rate function from recurrent event data. With an independent censoring assumption on the recurrent event process, we study statistical properties of the proposed estimators and propose bootstrap procedures for the bandwidth selection and for the approximation of confidence intervals in the estimation of the occurrence rate function. It is identified that the moment method without resmoothing via a smaller bandwidth will produce a curve with nicks occurring at the censoring times, whereas there is no such problem with the least squares method. Furthermore, the asymptotic variance of the least squares estimator is shown to be smaller under regularity conditions. However, in the implementation of the bootstrap procedures, the moment method is computationally more efficient than the least squares method because the former approach uses condensed bootstrap data. The performance of the proposed procedures is studied through Monte Carlo simulations and an epidemiological example on intravenous drug users.  相似文献

We propose a new summary statistic for inhomogeneous intensity‐reweighted moment stationarity spatio‐temporal point processes. The statistic is defined in terms of the n‐point correlation functions of the point process, and it generalizes the J‐function when stationarity is assumed. We show that our statistic can be represented in terms of the generating functional and that it is related to the spatio‐temporal K‐function. We further discuss its explicit form under some specific model assumptions and derive ratio‐unbiased estimators. To analyze interactions in marked spatiotemporal point processes (MSTPPs), we introduce marked second‐order reduced moment measures and K‐functions for inhomogeneous second‐order intensity‐reweighted stationary MSTPPs. These summary statistics, which allow us to quantify dependence between different mark‐based classifications of points, depend on the specific mark space and mark reference measure chosen. Unbiased and consistent minus‐sampling estimators are derived for all statistics considered, and a test for random labeling is indicated. In addition, we treat Voronoi intensity estimators for MSTPPs. These new statistics are finally employed to analyze an Andaman Sea earthquake data set.  相似文献

In this study, the performance of the estimators proposed in the presence of multicollinearity in the linear regression model with heteroscedastic or correlated or both error terms is investigated under the matrix mean square error criterion. Structures of the autocorrelated error terms are given and a Monte Carlo simulation study is conducted to examine the relative efficiency of the estimators against each other.  相似文献
