In this paper, step partially accelerated life tests are considered when the lifetime of an item under use condition follows a finite mixture of distributions. The analysis is performed when each of the components follows a general class of distributions, which includes, among others, the Weibull, compound Weibull (or three-parameter Burr type XII), power function, Gompertz and compound Gompertz distributions. Based on type-I censoring, the maximum likelihood estimates (MLEs) of the mixing proportions, scale parameters and acceleration factor are obtained. Special attention is paid to a mixture of two exponential components. Simulation results are obtained to study the precision of MLEs.  相似文献

In this paper, recurrence relations from a general class of doubly truncated continuous distributions which are satisfied by single as well as product moments of order statistics are obtained. Recurrence relations from doubly truncated generalized Weibull, exponential, Raleigh and logistic distributions have been derived as special cases of our result, Some previous results for doubly truncated Weibull, standard exponential, power function and Burr type XII distributions are obtained as special cases. The general recurrence relation of single moments has been used in the case of the left and right truncation to characterize the Weibull, Burr type XII and Pareto distributions.  相似文献

A general class of distributions is proposed to be the underlying population model from which observables are to be predicted using the Bayesian approach. This class of distributions includes, among others, the Weibull, compound Weibull (or three-parameter Burr-type XII), Pareto, beta, Gompertz and compound Gompertz distributions. A proper general prior density function is suggested and the predictive density functions are obtained in the one- and two-sample cases. The informative sample is assumed to be a type II censored sample. Illustrative examples of Weibull (α,β), Burr-type XII (α,β), and Pareto (α,β) distributions are given and compared with the results obtained by previous researchers.  相似文献

An expression for the Bayesian predictive survival function of the median of a set of future observations is obtained whether its size is assumed to be odd or even. Both of the informative and future samples are drawn from a population whose distribution is a general class that includes several distributions used in life testing (and other areas as well) such as the Weibull (including the exponential and Rayleigh), compound Weibull (including the compound exponential and compound Rayleigh), Pareto, beta, Gompertz and compound Gompertz, among other distributions. A general proper (conjugate) prior density function is used to cover most prior distributions that have been used in literature. Applications to the Weibull, exponential and Rayleigh models are illustrated.  相似文献

In this paper, progressive-stress accelerated life tests are applied when the lifetime of a product under design stress follows the exponentiated distribution [G(x)]α. The baseline distribution, G(x), follows a general class of distributions which includes, among others, Weibull, compound Weibull, power function, Pareto, Gompertz, compound Gompertz, normal and logistic distributions. The scale parameter of G(x) satisfies the inverse power law and the cumulative exposure model holds for the effect of changing stress. A special case for an exponentiated exponential distribution has been discussed. Using type-II progressive hybrid censoring and MCMC algorithm, Bayes estimates of the unknown parameters based on symmetric and asymmetric loss functions are obtained and compared with the maximum likelihood estimates. Normal approximation and bootstrap confidence intervals for the unknown parameters are obtained and compared via a simulation study.  相似文献

Some statistical data are most easily accessed in terms of record values. Examples include meteorology, hydrology and athletic events. Also, there are a number of industrial situations where experimental outcomes are a sequence of record-breaking observations. In this paper, Bayesian estimation for the two parameters of some life distributions, including Exponential, Weibull, Pareto and Burr type XII, are obtained based on upper record values. Prediction, either point or interval, for future upper record values is also presented from a Bayesian view point. Some of the non-Bayesian results can be achieved as limiting cases from our results. Numerical computations are given to illustrate the results.  相似文献

In this paper, we present a formal simple proof for the existence and uniqueness of the maximum likelihood estimates (MLEs) of the parameters of a general class of exponentiated distributions. This class includes the exponentiated (general) exponential, exponentiated Rayleigh (scaled Burr X) and exponentiated Pareto distributions, as special cases, and thus the proof given here establishes the existence and uniqueness of the MLEs for these important special cases as well.  相似文献

Abstract

This paper deals with Bayesian estimation and prediction for the inverse Weibull distribution with shape parameter α and scale parameter λ under general progressive censoring. We prove that the posterior conditional density functions of α and λ are both log-concave based on the assumption that λ has a gamma prior distribution and α follows a prior distribution with log-concave density. Then, we present the Gibbs sampling strategy to estimate under squared-error loss any function of the unknown parameter vector (α, λ) and find credible intervals, as well as to obtain prediction intervals for future order statistics. Monte Carlo simulations are given to compare the performance of Bayesian estimators derived via Gibbs sampling with the corresponding maximum likelihood estimators, and a real data analysis is discussed in order to illustrate the proposed procedure. Finally, we extend the developed methodology to other two-parameter distributions, including the Weibull, Burr type XII, and flexible Weibull distributions, and also to general progressive hybrid censoring.  相似文献

This paper introduces a new four-parameter lifetime model called the Weibull Burr XII distribution. The new model has the advantage of being capable of modeling various shapes of aging and failure criteria. We derive some of its structural properties including ordinary and incomplete moments, quantile and generating functions, probability weighted moments, and order statistics. The new density function can be expressed as a linear mixture of Burr XII densities. We propose a log-linear regression model using a new distribution so-called the log-Weibull Burr XII distribution. The maximum likelihood method is used to estimate the model parameters. Simulation results to assess the performance of the maximum likelihood estimation are discussed. We prove empirically the importance and flexibility of the new model in modeling various types of data.  相似文献

The Burr XII distribution offers a more flexible alternative to the lognormal, log-logistic and Weibull distributions. Outliers can occur during reliability life testing. Thus, we need an efficient method to estimate the parameters of the Burr XII distribution for censored data with outliers. The objective of this paper is to present a robust regression (RR) method called M-estimator to estimate the parameters of a two-parameter Burr XII distribution based on the probability plotting procedure for both the complete and multiply-censored data with outliers. The simulation results show that the RR method outperforms the unweighted least squares and maximum likelihood methods in most cases in terms of bias and errors in the root mean square.  相似文献

We give a general procedure to characterize multivariate distributions by using products of the hazard gradient and mean residual life components. This procedure is applied to characterize multivariate distributions as Gumbel exponential, Lomax, Burr, Pareto and generalized Pareto multivariate distributions. Our results extend the results of several authors and can be used to study how to extend univariate models to the multivariate set-up.  相似文献

The problem of estimating the survivorship function, R(t) = P(T > t), arises frequently in both engineering and biomedical sciences. In many applications the data one sees are censored due to the occurrence of some competing cause of failure such as withdrawal from the study, failure from some cause not under study, etc. In the biomedical sciences the distribution free estimator suggested by Kaplan and Meier (JASA 1958) is routinely used, while in the engineering sciences a parametric approach is more commonly used. In this report we study the efficiency of these two techniques when a particular parametric model such as the exponential, Weibull, normal, log normal, exponential power, Pareto, Gompertz, gamma, or bathtub shaped hazard distribution is assumed under a variety of censoring schemes and underlying failure models. We conclude that in most cases the parametric estimators outperform the distribution free estimator. The results are particularly striking if the Weibull forms of these estimators are used routinely.  相似文献

For the first time, a five-parameter distribution, called the Kumaraswamy Burr XII (KwBXII) distribution, is defined and studied. The new distribution contains as special models some well-known distributions discussed in lifetime literature, such as the logistic, Weibull and Burr XII distributions, among several others. We obtain the complete moments, incomplete moments, generating and quantile functions, mean deviations, Bonferroni and Lorenz curves and reliability of the KwBXII distribution. We provide two representations for the moments of the order statistics. The method of maximum likelihood and a Bayesian procedure are adopted for estimating the model parameters. For different parameter settings and sample sizes, various simulation studies are performed and compared to the performance of the KwBXII distribution. Three applications to real data sets demonstrate the usefulness of the proposed distribution and that it may attract wider applications in lifetime data analysis.  相似文献

In this article, one- and two-sample Bayesian prediction intervals based on progressively Type-II censored data are derived. For the illustration of the developed results, the exponential, Pareto, Weibull and Burr Type-XII models are used as examples. Some of the previous results in the literature such as Dunsmore (Technometrics 16:455–460, 1974), Nigm and Hamdy (Commun Stat Theory Methods 16:1761–1772, 1987), Nigm (Commun Stat Theory Methods 18:897–911, 1989), Al-Hussaini and Jaheen (Commun Stat Theory Methods 24:1829–1842, 1995), Al-Hussaini (J Stat Plan Inference 79:79–91, 1999), Ali Mousa (J Stat Comput Simul 71: 163–181, 2001) and Ali Mousa and Jaheen (Stat Pap 43:587–593, 2002) can be achieved as special cases of our results. Finally, some numerical computations are presented for illustrating all the proposed inferential procedures.  相似文献

Two families of distributions are introduced and studied within the framework of parametric survival analysis. The families are derived from a general linear form by specifying a function of the survival function with certain restrictions. Distributions within each family are generated by transformations of the survival time variable subject to certain restrictions. Two specific transformations were selected and, thus, four distributions are identified for further study. The distributions have one scale and two shape parameters and include as special cases the exponential, Weibull, log-logistic and Gompertz distributions. One of the new distributions, the modified Weibull, is studied in some detail.

The distributions are developed with an emphasis on those features that data analysts find especially useful for survivorship studies, A wide variety of hazard shapes are available. The survival, density and hazard functions may be written in simple algebraic forms. Parameter estimation is demonstrated using the least squares and maximum likelihood methods. Graphical techniques to assess goodness of fit are demonstrated. The models may be extended to include concmitant information.  相似文献

The design parameters of the economic and economic statistical designs of control charts depend on the distribution of process failure mechanism or shock model. So far, only a small number of failure distributions, such as exponential, gamma, and Weibull with fixed or increasing hazard rates, have been used as a shock model in the economic and economic statistical designs of the Hotelling T2 control charts. Due to both theoretical and practical aspects, the lifetime of the process under study may not follow a distribution with fixed or increasing hazard rate. A proper alternative for this situation may be the Burr distribution, in which the hazard rate can be fixed, increasing, decreasing, single mode, or even U-shaped. In this research article, economic and economic statistical designs of the Hotelling T2 control charts under the Burr XII shock models under two uniform and non uniform sampling schemes were proposed, constructed, and compared. The obtained design models were implemented by a numerical example, and a sensitivity analysis was conducted to evaluate the effect of changing parameters of shock model distribution on the optimum values of the proposed design models. The results showed that first the proposed designs under non uniform sampling scheme perform better and second the optimum values of the designs are not significantly sensitive to changing of the Burr XII distribution parameters. We showed that the obtained design models are also true for the beta Burr XII shock model.  相似文献

In this article, two-sample Bayesian prediction intervals of generalized order statistics (GOS) based on multiply Type II censored data are derived. To illustrate these results, the Pareto, Weibull, and Burr-Type XII distributions are used as examples. Finally, a numerical illustration of the sequential order statistics from the Pareto distribution is presented.  相似文献

In a sequence of independent and identically distributed (iid) random variables, the upper (lower) current records and record range are studied. We derive general recurrence relations between the single and product moments for the upper and lower current records based on Weibull and positive Weibull distributions, as well as Pareto and negative Pareto distributions, respectively. Moreover, some asymptotic results for general current records are established. In addition, a recurrence relation and an explicit formula for the moments of record range based on the exponential distribution are given. Finally, numerical examples are presented to illustrate and corroborate theoretical results.  相似文献

This paper is concerned with the problem of obtaining Bayesian prediction bounds of future observables from a finite mixture of Burr type XII distribution with its reciprocal based on type-I censored data. We consider the one-sample and two-sample prediction schemes using the Markov chain Monte Carlo algorithm. Numerical examples are given to illustrate the procedures and the accuracy of prediction intervals is investigated via extensive Monte Carlo simulation.  相似文献
